JW Urban Legend - The Demonised Teddy Bear
by God_Delusion inhowdy guys and girls!.
how many of you have heard the jehovah's witness urban legend about the demonised teddy bear?.
if you're from north london and were a witness during the late eighties and early nineties, there's a good chance you would have heard it.. i was lucky enough to have played a part in the actual account!.

The mentioning of the poster reminded me of a JW urban legend that was floating around the Kingdom Halls: a rebellious JW teen decided to buy a Black Sabbath, or AC/DC poster and one night he heard rock music and when he turned on the light, the rock band on the poster was dancing and singing. That was supposed to make all of us hate rock and roll music.

my boyfriend and i went out to dinner tonight and we had trouble getting in the door because a portly clueless man was standing in the door.

I had a similar experience when my car broke down last summer in a Denny's parking lot in Bakersfield, CA. Since I had to wait a while for the tow truck, I decided to have some breakfast. As I was walking toward the entrance, I noticed how everybody was dressed up in, what I call, old man style suits and the women in frumpy dresses. Sure enough, it was a herd of JW's parading around the parking lot of the restaurant acting extremely haughty, with a 'we're so much better than you' attitude. One old JW was on the phone in the lobby, trying to convince somebody of how great the first day was and the end was near. Ugh. Nearly turned me off from wanting to eat. LOL.

Wow. Now you've opened a can of memories. I, not only was I baptized there in 1987, I used to run the soft serve ice cream stand in the cafeteria. I was also, I might add, the trash overseer of the whole place. LOL. I used to run the trash compactor and was up to my nose in the gooiest trash you ever experienced. At least I could brag to the sisters about being an 'overseer'. Hare Krishna.

WOW! Was it really last night?
by AK - Jeff ini completely did not know the date of the memorial this year.
just happened across a post on fb in which it was mentioned a few minutes ago.. this is a good thing - probably the first time in 50 years i did not know the day/time of the memorial celebration of jehovah's witnesses.
i did know that today is good friday and that easter is sunday.

"Wow" was my reaction to this, also. Ever since my JW father passed away over a year ago, the JW influence is fading quickly. No more new mags laying around the house, no yearly invites to the Dist. Conventions. Weird.

Actually, a married couple who claimed they were of the "annointed" used to come over to eat lunch on a regular basis with my JW dad. I can vaguely remember them, as I was about 8/9 years old at the time, but they seemed to be very friendly and at ease, as they would sit and chat with my father for hours over lunch and coffee. Even my mother, who never liked the JW's, still speaks positively of these two, all these years later. At the Memorial, I can remember watching them nibble on the Memorial crackers and sipping on the jewish wine that was being passed around. Everyone would stare at them as they partook. Years later, when they both eventually died, we were in awe of knowing somebody who made it to heaven, "ruling with Christ." On a sidenote, was anyone else scared, or nervous as the "Lord's meal" was being passed by them? I guess I was afraid I was gonna drop the glass, or spill the vino and get my ass kicked by God. LOL.

Nothing more fun and memorable than dressing up & going to an Easter egg hunt in your community. Kids remember that kind of stuff for the rest of their lives.

That's what I've always wondered about the folks here who still attend. There's no way in Hell I could sit through that man made drivel anymore. It's amazing how you guys can sit there taking in all that BS when at this point you know for a fact it definitely is man made rules of BS but still sit there and take it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You hit the nail on the head: it's manmade drivel - the rules, the articles, the boring, dry talks...it's all from some old men in the Watchtower head office. I"m truly amazed anyone can put up with this. I left in 1990 and we would secretly make the same complaints about the god awful mtgs. at the KH.
