does anyone on this forum have knowledge about casting out demons or evil spirits?
there's at least two of them that have been harrasing me even before i was a jw.
i recently attended a deliverance church to find some help but it was apparent that the holy spirit was missing from that church.

Hmmmmm, I'm always curious meeting exJW's who are atheist. Not trying to put you down, but I always wonder how you can reach that conclusion that there is no God/Creator.

"Don't get involved in meditation" Hilarious. Meditation calms the mind and actually has a healing effect in patients recovering from serious illnesses.

Personally, anyone tormented by evil spirits (they do exist), I advise to try this: Chant the wonderful mantra

What a mess. Feel so sorry for the JoeHoe's. Mish mashed ideas/theories. Most JW's dont even have a direct connection to their master.

I remember hearing how fortunate we were that God was holding off the end. Brothers couldn't even picture seeing the year 2000 (this was 1987). I bet the JW's must really freak out about earthquakes in Missouri.

I remember as a kid in the '70's when there were several of the "annointed" in our congregation. It was an aged married couple and my dad being good friends with them, would invite them over to eat an occasional meal. I used to sit near them waiting for some deep realizations. While they were very polite and sweet natured, I don't recall any significant ideas said. I used to be in awe of them because they were people who my dad said were in an exclusive club and going to heaven the moment they died.
i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .
Was born into this, from birth to age 25. Stayed in it until 1991. Heard there was a big scandal in the cong. after I left: several affairs going on, drugs, beer parties. Sheesh. Much happier chanting Sanskrit mantras.
there always seemed to be some witnesses who seemed to be in it for the social aspect of it.
the ones who planned most of the gatherings and trips.
and the ones who got invited to the parties two states away.
I was hardcore, died in the wool foot soldier for the WT. Was made an MS at around 21 years old. I was even giving public talks a couple of times a year. Read and marked up my WT every weekend. Volunteered for the nasiest jobs at the Circuit Ass-emblies (trash collection, bathroom clean up, etc).

the 2010 district convention of jehovahs witnesses is about to begin.
I remember the District Ass-emblies over at Dodger Stadium; getting up before 6am only to scramble for a decent seat where you won't suffer too much. I laugh when I would doze off during an especially boring talk only to be woken up each time the audience applauded. A few times they had it at the Inglewood Race Track. Was weird looking at the signs for betting and booze while walking around. One time they had it at the LA Forum where the Los Angeles Lakers used to play. That place was even worse; esp. if you sat up in the higher seats. Back in the seventies, I recall the assemblies starting on Thursday afternoons and ending on Sunday afternoons with everyone staggering out to their cars, dizzy from being in the sun all day. I hated the assemblies from start to finish!
um... a witness sent me this in an email.
it's going around as the rumored program, but there's no proof.. if it is real though...is very last one symbolic?
or is it literal?
God, all this talk about JW Conventions brings back a lot of crappy memories of rubbery Assembly sandwiches, boring talks, dozing off just waiting for the day to end so I can pull off that tie and relax. They will always have to dangle the ultimate carrot out in front of the believers: "the end is near". I heard my dad talking on the phone the other day to another JW. They were talking about how the lousy economy and the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile as sure evidence of "the end". Heard that propaganda in the seventies and eighties, all the way up until I left in 1989. So glad to be out.
