A couple that I know recently divorced without the proverbial grounds to make it legit. The young lady returned to her home area approx 400km away. The brother told me that she wants to date and that the elders in his area have been driving by frequently late at night and early in the morning hoping to find a reason to give her the grounds.

What are the consequences if a JW files for an unscriptural divorce?
by Daniel1555 inin january my wife separated from me, because she views me as an apostate (to make the story short).. at that time the elders explained to us, that the bible doesn't approve of such a separation.
i heard from my mother in law, that my wife finally wants to divorce.
(when i think of how my wife treated me the last year i actually want a divorce too).. now my question to you:.

Heads Up: If you are an older JW, WT has no further use for you!
by AndDontCallMeShirley inwt is retiring district overseers, has sent older jws serving at bethel packing despite years of faithful service, and as of june 1, 2014, has announced that any elder that has reached 80 years of age is no longer valued or wanted as a cobe.
in wt land it would appear that older people have little or no value, and wt sees no reason to use them in any meaningful capacity.
i wonder how this makes older ones feel after devoting their lives to wt's interests while shelving their own hopes and dreams?.

MissFit ... a couple of elders showed up at my door the week of the CO visit wanting to meet with me, we set a tentative time to meet, I followed up with a "that day isn't going to work for me" he said we would talk and set up a time later .... that was 7 weeks ago ... most likely the elder doesn't really care if he gets to meet with you (maybe he has genuine concern), what he does care about is that he can report to the CO that he did his job.

1975 end prediction
by FL_Panthers indoes anyone have the article written by the wt saying that the end would come in 1975?.
how did people back then come to this year?
i need this information becuase i was told, this was never literally written by the wt in any publication.. thanks.

FL_Panthers .... you won't find anything in writing that comes right out and says 1975 is the end, they somewhat learned their lessons from past specific predictions ... what they did was build hype about it, they were careful not to write anything 100% specific about it, but they taught it "off the books" and implied it heavily in publications and talks from 1968 on.

I imagine this will be quite a positive cash flow for the BORG even if some congregations are paying less. I know that the Society's Kingdom Hall Fund was the least supported in my congregation and the amount read off each month in the thank you letter was pennies compared to what they will be getting now.

You Americans are the friendliest people I've met
by not bitter in........ well at least the ones i encountered on my recent holiday to orlando.
now i know that its a tourist destintion so everyone working in the hotels and parks are on their best behaviour.
but i have been to tourist towns here in the uk and europe but not one is on a par with you guys.. my husband and i haven't stopped talking about to anyone that wants to listen.

My Elderette is attempting to change the subject again
by Faithful Witness inwe were in the middle of discussing their use of god's personal name, and miss k was not able to find one place in the bible, where jesus actually said the name out loud (that wasn't a quote from the ot).
we had started out by talking about jesus being "the way, the truth and the life.
" then she stated that one of the purposes of jesus' coming to earth, was "to make god's name known.
