You didn't agree to this in your marriage vows. It's not fair of him to expect you to give up your tradition because of Watchtower rules. As long as you don't expect him to help you set up the tree, decorate it, sing Christmas carols around it, take it down, it's none of his damn business. Don't let him force his Watchtower rules on you. If he doesn't understand that you have rights to your beliefs and traditions then he is a bit controlling.

This is the state required annual meeting for corporate shareholders of the Watchtower printing corporation. Watchtower turned a mandated business meeting it into a religious event where a select number of tickets were made available that gave non-shareholders bragging rights for attending. A few years ago this meeting was turned into a big deal ... Select few Halls were set up to take part.
I'm pretty much out of touch now. I don't know how extensively the Kingdom Halls are connected. I assume in the U.S. it is the majority.
It is an event that now rivals the memorial in importance ... it seems.

How Long Out Before They leave You Alone
by tepidpoultry inmany years ago i met an older man in the ministry who told me he was a baptized jw years ago, when i met him he was an alchoholic and had girlfriends, i told the elders, two came by and they told me to treat him as a regular worldly guy, my question is (i know this is a fuzzy area) about how much time needs to go by before someone (me for instance) would be looked upon as a non jw worldly person?.
:0).

I'm in a small town and the elders here don't really seem to care to deal with things they aren't forced to. My wife and oldest daughter are still believers and regular attenders. This past Christmas the COBE (if that's still the current term) and his wife happened to be in line in front of me while I was buying Christmas tree paraphernalia ... awkward ... when I got home I told my wife if he said anything to tell him that I don't celebrate it or recognize it as a religious holiday ... she told him, he had a laugh. I'm still considered inactive. -

Russia and the letter writing
by Listener inthis is the whole of the instructions that the watchtower gave jws when writing to russian officials -.
content • you are writing to the official to request his intervention.
express the hope that the russian authorities will stop the legal action being taken against the branch office and the congregations in russia so that our brothers and sisters can continue to gather peacefully for christian meetings without interference.

This is totally nuts! The GB is probably loving this ! They don't expect anything positive from the Russians, just the positive effect of persecution to strengthen the base. Too bad the Russians don't know that banning them actually makes them stronger. The king of the North is making a comeback! Everybody back to the Kingdumb Halls while the Chariot waits!

Two closed down in my small rural area within the past six months. One of the halls had been built 8 years ago. Remember when they pointed at other religions closing their doors as a big deal back in the 80's and 90's?

New sad song: 0940 Our Spiritual Mother
by 9.40am inyou might like our new song on you tube titled '0940 our spiritual mother' about the experience her 'children' have had as jehovah's witnesses.
it's a reworded version of mother (pink floyd) set to new and historic watchtower images.. some who've already seen it have been kind enough to describe it as 'incredibly sad', 'powerful' and even 'poignant'.
