Help for children to think and reason for themselves

help please.. i did a search and could not find the reference.

i think that i recently saw a post where someome made a referrence to a book or books specifically dealing with teaching children to think for themselves.

on page 5 of the of the wt while talking about the annual meeting report.. "john barr gave the third and final talk.".

"john barr made clear that the gathering wound not continue indefinitely.

I too brought out this new information to my wife and separately to a couple of elders. All are on board and see it as being increased light and making even more sense now. If they get together and start comparing notes on the questions I have been asking I am done for!

Are the GB members and other elite persons captives as well?

i know that the masses have definitely drunk the kool-aid but does that same conviction flow all the way to the top?

is there a clear line between those following and those in the know?

what current proof is there that the leadership is not captive, but the captor?

My opinion ... I think they are captives. The publishing company became an evolving religion that has grown and lives. The GB has inherited the responsiblity to feed it and discover new light when things go wrong. I think they are controlled by it like the rank & file. Most if not all of them know nothing else. Where would they go? The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, Inc. is the monster, all witnesses are its puppets.

That brings me to another thing that has bouncing around in my small mind. New light. The illustration used about this is always how the day dawns and as it gets brighter what was merely a shadow takes form ... etc. etc. ... but why is it that new light always seems to come because the Organization messed up. Instead of a gradual increased understanding of Bible truth, it is oops what was that I tripped over, what went wrong, I must turn around an look back with my trusty flashlight to come up with an explanation.

since we have a lot of canadian friends on this board, i have to ask - who are your favorite canadian bands?.

mine is rush.

they have been one of my favorite bands ever since i can remember.. they totally rule........the music and lyrics are all top notch.. the other one is the tea party - jeff martin is a genius.

Matthew 24:14 - past statements concerning

i am just wondering .... one of the issues i would hold on to and i have used and heard others use in the ministry is about the preaching ... you know, only jehovah's witnesses are doing it, they are fulfilling this prophecy .... since the organization has predicted the date for armageddon in the past, did they ever make statements as to what degree this preaching had been accomplished or have explanations on this changed over the years as well?.

I can understand the thinking OUTSIDE of the organization and am coming to grips with that, I just wondered if since actual dates were predicted for Armageddon such as 1925, did they also make comments leading up to that why they were confident that Mat 24:14 had been fulfilled?

Hoser's reference to divine plan of the ages makes sense since CT Russell believed Armageddon to be imminent even prior to 1900.

i really needed to find a place to write this as i don't believe i can talk with anyone else about my account, perhaps it is similar to a lot of yours.. last night for whatever reason i said i would go online and look up information on jws.

i have been raised as a jw all my life and baptized the last few years.

i looked at www.freeminds.org and www.sixscreensofthewatchtower.com and couldn't believe how easily the whole of my lifes teachings were refuted.. i can't stop my brain from running, bs just in regards to theology alone (1914, paradise earth, celebrations etc.

Gutted ... a few months ago I was where you are at right now, so, I'm not much further ahead and am still experiencing confusion and anxiety about what to do next. My first few nights were sleepless, and I still wake up each morning wondering what to do next. It is literally like scales have fallen from my eyes and when I read the Bible and go to meetings I see things that I never saw before. As others have said, be careful what you say, don't think that everyone you know is going to want to know these things too, cuz they don't. I'm still trying to figure things out so can't offer much advice, just know that you aren't alone. I hope all goes well for you.

death unnatural?? whats with that?

my mother, like all the dubs, excels at dropping casual sentences here and there designed to suck me back into the borg.... her latest subtle (not) attempt to use my father's death as the drawing card was to send an sms saying only: "death is so unnatural".. of course i remember all those public talks, so i know exactly where she's coming from: we were made to live forever so no wonder death is so painful for us to deal with.. but honestly, what planet are they on????

on the planet earth death is the most natural thing ever!

Through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin .... so death spread to all men ... if you believe this, death is unnatural as it wasn't God's purpose for humans. Its just a statement to make you think how profound it truly is. Death is an enemy, introduced through Satan and sin.
