  The pointless thing is even trying to make sense of it at all.

  Whereas it may be contrived to convey a sense of urgency now, in a few years, the overlapping generations can be extended out to Jesus evidently meant two overlapping generations of 70-80 years each. At that future possible evidently, if one of the anointed was BORN in 1914, died in 2014, an upcoming anointed born before he died would be around on earth during the great tribulation. Could potentially be a 200 year overlapping generation.

  having read a couple of wt books and magazines i expect it to be full of logical fallacies, scholary dishonesty, irrelevant illustrations, mind-control and scripture taken out of context.. but the writer want to give even more so he apparently saw it fit to randomly insert really, really stupid statement.

  to clarify - they dont serve any purpose, there does not seem to be a point with them, they are just so incredibly retarded you dont know if you should laugh or cry.. an example is the first two lines of the section "those who god love" on page 26. the writer want to convince us that we cant choose our friends ourselves, and he write: [my translation].

  True, but IMO the context is accurate as presented in the book (in this particular instance).

  Love for all of mankind does not necessarily mean the same as friendship with all.

  God, because of his love for all people, offers the free gift, this still requires an individual to accept the gift.

  A person may love their neighbor, even an enemy, but you may not consider them a friend.

  I am assuming this is the statement you are referring to from the English version ...

  *** lv chap. 3 p. 26 par. 4 Love Those Whom God Loves ***
  When it comes to friendship, Jehovah is particular. Does he not have the right to be? After all, he is the Sovereign Lord of the universe, and friendship with him is the greatest of all privileges.

  While not defending all teachings of The Watchtower, paragraph 5 refers you to Psalm 15:1-5, so I think in context there is nothing wrong with the statement.

  since the term "this generation" evidently means "two generations" i think we should have our discussion of things that are evidently true.

  no need to limit it to the bible, but i'll start off with one.. 1 tim.

  3 "2now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife" evidently means everybody else can have as many wives as they want.

  epo injections have been on the acceptable list for quite some time - the preparation contains a small amount of albumin.. .

  a friend of mine tells me a letter was read in his congregation last week after the service meeting stating that these injections don't contain any blood fractions and are no longer a conscience matter.. .

  anyone know more details?.

  After reading Truth in Translation, I trust the New World Translation Reference Editon, making sure to check footnotes carefully, bracketed words, and take into consideration that the Divine Name most likely does not belong in the Greek Scriptures. I also have been using the New American Bible - these two translations were viewed as quite accurate by Jason BeDuhn.

  I found his book to very helpful in reading the New World Translation from a different perspective by taking into consideration the issues he had with the translation despite it being quite accurate. Understanding these nuances and paying close attention to the footnotes was instrumental to me seeing the real truth of the bible.

  If I can remain in until the article is studied at the KH it would be fun to comment at the meeting and ask "am I the only one bothered by this? am I the only one that thinks this is a bunch of nonsense? this doesn't make sense" ... do you think if we did this at meetings others would reason? I suppose not, and it would most likely be the final opportunity to make a comment.

  i think that i recently saw a post where someome made a referrence to a book or books specifically dealing with teaching children to think for themselves.

  I realize its a shame that I have to ask for information on teaching my children to think for themselves ... but I pretty much gave that over to an organization for the past couple of decades so I have to relearn myself (as I was not a born-in). I know how find answers using the Watchtower Library, the concordance, the bound volumes, and I know introducing other sources to my children is going to cause trouble in the mind of my wife.
