I agree that it will be missed by the majority. The only ones it will help are those who are mentally ready and looking.
Nobody from my family caught it as anything different at the convention. I even printed out the study Watchtower article from jw.org before we recieved the mag and discussed it with my wife ... she sees no change.
We had the review of the convention at the service meeting last Thursday, nobody brought up the new understanding at all from the audience, they just talked about points from the beginning of the talk and the new DVD. The speaker handling the part ended up saying "there was a clarification of the generation".

Did your congregation have "Talent" Shows?
by lepermessiah ini saw this video on youtube and didnt know if i should laugh or crawl into the fetal position.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abm0t-qhllc&feature=related.
.
we had several "talent" shows over the years in my original congregation - it was the only annual gathering more nauseating that the meetings.. my friend and i would always bring our walkmans and blare heavy metal in the back - hoping to block out the embarassing crap on the stage.you always had a few older ones get up on stage and slaughter a kingdumb song.

Come on, all talent shows, get togethers, whatever, with whoever, can get downright corney and embarrassing ... but some people have fun with it, nothing wrong with having a little fun.

Off topic, but given the subject of the thread, this scripture just pops into my head when I think about new releases every year.
(Ecclesiastes 12:12) . . .As regards anything besides these, my son, take a warning: To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion [to them] is wearisome to the flesh.

Thank you all for sharing!
I am so worried about losing my wife and kids.
I don't know how long I can put up with this though.

Am I the only one who thought the GB was 100% correct when they were a JW?
by NiceDream ina few months ago i began researching my doubts on the internet about the wtbts and i came across a bunch of crazy facts.
this helped me realize this isn't "the truth.".
when i was growing up, i believed the society was always right, and we needed to obey what was in the publications.

I was more in line with your husbands thinking. I figured they are imperfect men, just like the kings of Israel, so despite the mistakes they made, they were still the faithful slave. I figured just like David respected the office and Saul as God's anointed, we likewise should respect the office of the faithful slave and live through the mistakes.
What made the difference to me was learning how that slave has truly been behaving. PR spin, covering things up, the hurt that has been done to people, insistence that others can't understand the Bible without their help, their willingness to make rules where the Bible is vague, so often being taught how a loving person should act like it is something that can be put on when it must come from within ... and so on. To me, it finally became clear Jehovah's Witnesses just could not be the one and only true Christian religion.

My insane JW friend takes me to lunch...
by sooner7nc inyesterday, i get a call at work from my old jw buddy, who btw doesn't know my true feelings on religion.
he offers to buy lunch so we go to a local burger joint, sit down, and start swapping stories like always.
we see each other once or twice a week, share many common interests, and generally get along well.

While it may seem shocking, the difference with the elders might be his attitude. If he approached them to confess on his own, that is a huge factor, that would make this more of a "prodigal son" type of situation to the body. His coming forward on his own, spilling his guts, shows repentance, public reproof ... it may play out differently with another body of elders, but this does seem reasonable.

Help! I need advideQ Elders want to speak to me..
by cia171 inas you read in the title, the elders from my congregation want to have a chat with me...which could be about to things...either why havent i gotten baptized ( since ive been in this since i was born...ive been tortured all my life lol) or either because i have a worldly boyfriend.. i dont know what to say in either case!
i cant say i dont want to get baptized because i have to appear to like the religion til i graduate college cuz my mom pays for it and is pract blackmailing me with it, and i cant say tht i will cause i hate it!
and about my boyfriend they will either give me advice about why not to be with him or convert him...so i dont know what to say to to pacify them and not let it get to me...so any advice?

If you are an unbaptized publisher, they may want information about your relationship with your boyfriend. Good thing is that "Cia171 is no longer an unbaptized publisher" doesn't carry the same good as disfellowshipped label as the old "Cia171 is no longer an approved associate".
Since you aren't baptized, I would believe they just want an encouragement session with you. If you are an unbaptized publsiher, it would be possible they want to find out if you still qualify.
