Is that the rule
No
i was speaking with an older sister who is quite zealous and she is typical of many who are concerned that men are not reaching out.
she notes that young men in particular have no interest in doing anything, congregation-wise.. the change in this area is quite dramatic, if you can remember that once, being an elder was an aspiration of nearly every brother - and we had plenty of young men to run the mics and hand out magazines.
i once pointed out to a c.o.
Is that the rule
No
watchtower study for 7/18/2010.
pg.
26, paragraph 9 - mankind's redeemer - is this not confusing?
Watchtower study for 7/18/2010
pg. 26, paragraph 9 - mankind's Redeemer - is this not confusing? Is he the redeemer for the 144,000 or mankind? Which is it? Is this a new understanding or a slip or just an unqualified mankind's but technically just the anointed?
EDIT -
Oops ... sorry, I was confusing mediator with redeemer ... never mind.
i personally would lose the overlapping terminology and just say that the generation refers to the entire jehovah's witness movement.
jesus is basically saying that the movement would not be gone when end comes to fruition.
this will give us hope during the great tribulation because there will be times when our extermination seems imminent.. what about you?.
guuuyyysss! you arn't playing right!
I would return to old light as brighter light and stick with "this generation" as being the "faithful and discreet slave [class]" and focus on scriptures such as 2 Tim 3:1-5 and Romans 13:11-12 and 2 Tim 4:1-5. Emphasis on the season and the urgency. For those who cool down because of the lack of an imminent near date I would emphasize how sad it is but they have been weeded out and were not of our sort with James 2:18-19. Let the chips fall where they may. If numbers go down, then refer to Matt 24:12,13 - love of the greater number cooling off and how important for us to endure.

i'm in a discussion with a guy who tells jw's at his door that he can't follow their beliefs because, as a military retiree, he is technically and legally on the military rolls forever.. .
anyone know if the society handles a person in this situation differently than anyone else who wants to be part of the congregation?
I think that is okay only in Mexico.
just for the record, today is july 17. two days ago i was in a store and they already have tons of new halloween costumes and all kind of witchy paraphenelia out on the shelves.. why are they pushing this stuff so early?.
are you seeing halloween stuff displayed right now in your area?
what do you make of it?.
Wasn't there a WT BigWig that died on Halloween?

I think they need to close the doors, pack everything up, go home, this particular game has been going on for 130 years. If they are God's Organization, he won't let it happen.
now up on jw.org.. it would seem that the days of "local needs" berating the flock may be coming to an end - one article instructs that elders should ensure that meetings are "encouraging" and that where counsel is needed for just a few people then it should be given privately rather than from the platform..
Even if they do relax a bit, the result will eventually necessitate a return to strictness. If those in control don't like how the sheep respond to freedom, and they won't, they have to exercise the control again. (ie higher education)
Paul advised the Christians on how to view their freedom ...
(Galatians 5:13-14) . . .YOU were, of course, called for freedom, brothers; only do not use this freedom as an inducement for the flesh, but through love slave for one another. 14 For the entire Law stands fulfilled in one saying, namely: "You must love your neighbor as yourself."
The WB&TS,inc. says, "better yet, to prevent the misuse of freedom, don't give it to them in the first place"
many times in the recent weeks, i have heard statements to the effect of "you dont understand biblical science", "science proove the bible right" etc.
i want to begin by saying i really like it when people make those kind of broad, sweeping statements because when each party in a discussion come clean about what they believe to be true, you can easier get down to a factual discussion.. and i really do want to understand biblical science.
i has spend a long, long time reading cuts-and-pastes on this site, and i have read a large part of the content on aig.
Whilst in service I aksed a brother if the flood was global or regional? He replied global. I asked him how all of the animals that are unique to Australia got there, why aren't they in Africa too? He never thought of that. "Hmm", he said, "I will have to write that one down to ask in the new system."
i used to call them "cult like" but i do believe they are a "cult".. what's your opinion?.
At this point for me it is a tough call. I see cult-like characteristics, mind control techniques, but isn't this true of all religions? Couldn't you classify the first century Christians as cult-like?
i don't post here much, so hopefully i put this in the right section.
if not, let me know.. i've emailed my aunt about the new generation change, just to see her reaction to it and what her mindset is.
i tried to keep it simple and not attack her personally as she has a heart of gold and has been a jw 40+ years.
I strongly feel as Peter and the apostles did at John 6:68, 'Whom shall we go away to?' I wish you felt the same way. What other organization on earth is preaching the good news and directing people to Jehovah God? Who do you believe has the truth?
Answer: Jesus
