Last Night's Intervention
by brotherdan ini'm afraid of starting a new post because i've stepped on a few feet here with my last post... but i still love you guys.. last night i went home to find my wife and her friend on the couch with the bible, ready to show me how i'm wrong and exercising "apostate thinking".
my wife said, "i am unable to fight you with the bible because you know more than me about it.
but k** knows more and will be able to show you how you are wrong.. so my wife went into the other room so as not to be stumbled by my discussion.

Have her read "Truth in Translation" by Jason Beduhn. Witnesses love the fact that it points out the NWT to be an accurate translation (on selective verses). I read it with the hope of keeping my faith and squashing doubts. It had a reverse effect for me. I came to appreciate that the NWT translators attempted to be accurate, even to the point of putting the footnotes in the study edition that give alternate usage of the term. Just as Jehovah's Witnesses could show the "Truth" with a KJV, you can clearly see the other side of the story with the NWT.
The end of the book deals with the name Jehovah being added to the Greek Scriptures as an inaccuracy. When you read between the lines and take the whole book into consideration it opens your eyes ... at least it did mine.
The Watchtower quoted this book in an Awake! magazine for praising the accuracy of the NWT. I figured if they were going to accept the praise, I should also accept the criticism offered.

How much of the UP are you doing? Porcupine Mtns are on the west side, not too far, for the nature lover is Isle Royale, a 3 hour ferry ride, on the far east side are the Soo Locks in Sault Ste Marie, MI ... across the border in Sault Ste Marie, ON is Agawa Canyon ... also mentioned was Tahquamenon Falls and of course the famous Mackinac Island ... Pictured Rocks is nice, its more towards the north central area.
If you like gaming, there are several casinos. Lac Vieux Desert resort in Watersmeet, Kewadin Casinos , Island Resort & Casino.
On your way north you of course would not want to miss The Packers Hall of Fame or Lambeau Field.

In my dealings with my wife, it seems to get down to the trinity, immortality of the soul, worldwide unity, global preaching ... because of these things, any wrongs are forgivable as the light just keeps getting brighter. I guess getting the core thoughts right is all that really matters and since other religions don't have these things right, Jehovah just can not tolerate them.

Just talked to a brother in the service department and he hung up on me!
by life is to short inok so last sunday was my last meeting.
i have been in contact with the service department over this problem with the child molesters in my hall, i have written many, many letters begging for help, i have gotten nothing for help from them, but to wait on jehovah and pray more study more, etc.
so i want them to know that they they win they have weeded me out from the "truth" i am a bad seed from satan as i cannot abide by how we handle child molesters.

So wannabefree would you put your child in his care?
No. I am not putting you down for what you did, I applaud you for your tenacity, I just am not surprised by the results.

We are all sinners, we all need forgiveness, Jesus' sacrifice covers sins that we might have a hard time forgiving ourselves. Clearly you are passionate about this and I doubt you were ready to hang up until you got the result you wanted, which was not going to happen, therefore I can understand why he did.

OMG! My MOM is asking for info???
by Morbidzbaby inbrief history...my mother (love her dearly) is the most devout (okay, brainwashed) jw i know.
wouldn't hear anything that would cause her to doubt.
my dad converted after 20-some-odd years, so i grew up with the "unbelieving father", my mom had the "unbelieving mate" and we were henceforth treated like dirt in the congregation...plus we were poor.

UN letter coupled with "Organized to Do Jehovah's Will" page 155 2nd paragraph - '... a person might renounce his place in the Christian congregation by his actions, such as by becoming part of a secular organization that has objectives contrary to the Bible and, hence, is under judgment by Jehovah God. (Isa 2:4; Rev 19:17-21)'
... Certainly the UN is 'under judgment by Jehovah God'. By their actions, didn't The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society disassociate itself from the Christian Congregation?
