  The Bible as inerrant and complete, or sufficient.

  i think we will agree that the wt holds it that the bible is the inerrant word of god.

  this is an idea that i just learned from a blog.. the idea is very, very simple:.

  the bible is considered "inerrant" and "sufficient".. meaning, it contains no errors, but it is also all you need for salvation.

  The Watchtower denies that God is Omnipresent

  i was flipping through the newest awake this afternoon and stumbled on an interesting article.

  the title is "is god omnipresent?

  " this is a pretty basic christian belief, and i thought that the watchtower was on board with it.

  By that logic, "Grandpa is coming down out of the attic" means, "Grandpa is staying in the attic but now he's paying attention to what we're doing down here."

  How will Jehovah "reside" with his people spiritually in a way that he doesn't now?

  And THAT is why Ding is such a good resource for Christians! A great Christian thinker that has helped me beyond belief. I hope you know how much I love you, Ding!

  a year after my parents were baptized i was born in 1954. that same year my father was appointed presiding overseer and remained in that position until the early sixties despite the fact he was still smoking.

  he gained the position by default because he was the only baptized man who could read.

  thus began my life course of abuse, neglect and cult thinking.

  You brought tears to my eyes. I could not help but imagine my own children in your situation. It is amazing that you are stronger than 7 million other people and able to see that this WASN'T your fault. This was the result of some VERY bad people and an organization that is willing to protect them.

  I hope you know that you will be able to come here and have friends that will stick by your side. I have acted, in a few cases, very immature on this site. And yet the people here have been willing to forgive.

  Please know that we are here for you and want to be your friend. Again...I am so sorry that you had to deal with this. Just let it be a motivation for you to protect others from having to go through these same experiences.

  the jw's boast about how the nwt is directly from the original languages, but that is only for english.

  when it comes to other languages, jw's translate from the english nwt into the other language, which makes it one step removed.

  3Mozzies! Fantastic!!! What a valuable post! It would be interesting to examine the differences in all the languages. Cris Sanchez (a translator of the NWT in spanish) gave some fantastic experiences in the past. If anyone is interested I have a few talks from him regarding the dishonesty that took place in the spanish translation that was directed through Fred Franz.

  DO WE NEED TO BELONG TO A RELIGION TO BE A "SPIRITUAL PERSON"?

  i have been noticing people posting on this site have a "deep" spiritual desire, but don't quite know how to find it, or where it is at.. this beg the question...do we need to be involved with a "religion" to find "spirituality"...especially an "organized religion"???.

  anyone that has there eyes open can see that all religion is loosing their influence over people around the world...i spent 47 years thinking i was in the "truth" being one of jw's!

  and now that i am out...and looking back from the "outside"...all i see is that its just another religion...filled with all the "control-grid" stuff found in any other group.. worse yet...they are worse than other religions...so it begs an answer..is there such thing as a "true religion"???.

  Bible revision question. Important?

  i have been talking lately with my neighbor about the watchtower religion, and she said she is very good at going verse to verse with them to disprove their bible.

  then she asked me if they have their own bible?

  so, i told her yes, they started making one in the 1950's.

  Here is their twist on it...

  From the Rev Climax book:

  “I saw also the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” (Revelation 21:2)

  New Jerusalem is the bride of Christ, made up of the anointed Christians who remain faithful to death and who are raised to become kings and priests with the glorified Jesus. (Revelation 3:12; 20:6) Just as earthly Jerusalem became the seat of government in ancient Israel, the magnificent New Jerusalem and her Bridegroom make up the government of the new system of things. This is the new heaven. The ‘bride comes down out of heaven,’ not literally, but in the sense of directing attention to the earth. The Lamb’s bride is to be his loyal helpmeet in operating a righteous government over all mankind. A blessing indeed for the new earth!

  4 John tells us further: “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ‘Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them.’” (Revelation 21:3) When Jehovah made the Law covenant with the then new nation of Israel, he promised: “I shall certainly put my tabernacle in the midst of you, and my soul will not abhor you. And I shall indeed walk in the midst of you and prove myself your God, and you, on your part, will prove yourselves my people.” (Leviticus 26:11, 12) Now Jehovah is making a similar promise to faithful humans. During the thousand-year Judgment Day, they will become a very special people to him.

  5 During the Millennial Reign, Jehovah will “reside” among mankind in a temporary arrangement, he being represented by his royal Son, Jesus Christ. At the end of the Thousand Year Reign, however, when Jesus hands the Kingdom over to his Father, no royal representative or intercessor will be needed. Jehovah will reside spiritually with “his peoples” in a permanent and direct way. (Compare John 4:23, 24.) What a lofty privilege for restored humanity!
