recently i've been able to exchange emails about the dangers of the organization and share jesus with her.
Does anyone have any advice in comforting someone that knows that they are deciding to lose their family? My MIL just sent me this:
Well I think that there is hope for (brodans wife), but for (SIL 1) and (SIL 2) it is there entire identity and I don't think they could even touch the idea that they could have been misled. I am going to have to grieve the loss just like a death

reds, it HAS opened her eyes. We are emailing back and forth right now. She just brought up that the time between 1Corinthians and 2Corinthians was about 4 months. In 1Cor, Paul talks about the need to expell a man that was bragging about sleeping with his step mother. In 2Cor he talks about welcoming the man back and making sure that he is not overly sad.
Our congregation has held to a pretty regular policy of keeping people disfellowshipped from between 1 to 4 years.
i would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.
the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".
anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".

one sport that i think is lame is pro hockey.
it's the only sport where players are expected to beat the crap out of each other.
it's not as much about scoring but how many punches were thrown!

We all knows that the WT is a false prophet, that we must shun disfellowshipped ones, and that we cannot hold hands during prayers. I don't think that any of this is reading between the lines. His comment was not meant to say that they didn't specifically say it. He was responding to a post that asked where in the literature the society said that we shouldn't hold hands during prayers.He said, "The didn't". I was showing the poster that...they did.
just a thought yesterday as i was eating lunch with my 5 yr. old son.
the restaurant had ccr's bad moon rising playing, and i thought,.
this could be a real up temp song to sing at the hall and it even has the lyrics that speak of impending doom.
Interestingly, the guy that did those solos...now has a beard. Good for him!

When we are being represented in public prayer, we need to display reverential "fear of God." (1 Pet 2:17) There may be a proper time and place for some actions that would be inappropriate at a Christian meeting. (Eccl 3:1) For instance, suppose someone sought to have all in a group link arms or hold hands during prayer. This might offend or distract some, including visitors who do not share our beliefs. Some marriage mates might discreetly hold hands, but those who got a glimpse of such conduct might be stumbled. They might think or get the impression that the couple was focusing on their romantic relationship instead of reverence for Jehovah.
if you ever felt that you really did love god, but no matter what you did, ended up on the outs with your family and with the watchtower anyway..... these words have comforted me.. .

I don't tolerate the WT version of God either. I don't see how you could justify being a Christian if you don't hold to the Bible though... What would be the point?
bethel entrants' school lecture 2-d. .
the watchtower organization requires that all new full-time workers at its world headquarters or other facilities attend an entrant school.
attendees are provided worksheets that are outlines for lectures at these events.
We were to read all of the life stories of the GB during entrants school. This is a shock to many witnesses. The amount of person worship at bethel is amazing. The bethelites pretty much idolize many of the GB. And that is the way the GB likes it.
One afternoon Dan Sydlik was at Patterson for the noon meal. I got up to meet him after eating. He was surrounded by a ton of guests, and he was....SIGNING THEIR BIBLES! The GB are total celebrities there.
