One sport that I think is lame is pro hockey. It's the only sport where players are expected to beat the crap out of each other. It's not as much about scoring but how many punches were thrown! Don't get me wrong, I love a good boxing match but hockey is about guys skating and beating people up.

I have a good friend that LOVES hockey and ESPECIALLY when they start whacking each other. That's the part that I don't get. In most every other sport, you're not expected to beat the daylights out of the other guy but in pro hockey, it is encouraged.

For anyone who has watched hockey on TV and not been impressed: you need to go to a game in person. There's where you can really appreciate the game and learn how it's really played. Fighting is a part of certain leagues, true... but it's not just about fighting.
Being from the South I grew up not caring about hockey. Then I went to a minor league game in my teens and was hooked. From there I started watching Olympic hockey (no fighting) and the NHL along with keeping up with area minor league teams. I've been lucky enough to attend some Stanley Cup Finals games, where the championship series is more about the game and not the spectacle of the event (like the NFL).
I've never gotten into soccer (football, futbol). I think because, again, I never grew up with it and other than seeing it on TV, I haven't really taken the time to learn more or watch. If it's on in a bar, I'll watch but I don't go out of my way to keep up with leagues or teams or anything.
Hockey is not uninteresting to me. The fighting is what I consider stupid.
