PLEASE excuse my harshness sometimes. I really am not as judgemental and "prickish" like I come across sometimes. Sometimes I'll go back and reread some of my older posts and think, "Gee...what a douche bag!"

it's sad that someone is thinking bout that because of fear of being cast out by family.

i'm going to try to relay info to help them.
Obviously, most of you know that I believe in God. And I have been in some pretty heated pro-life/pro-choice debates.
My stand on this is that each situation is different. There are an impossible number of factors to consider. Some basic ones are:
1. How old is the fetus
2. Was the baby a consequence of sexual assult
3. Is the baby life threatening to the mother
4. Why can she not carry it to term and then go the adoption route
Most of us need to stay out of it and let the mother choose. I don't support abortion in MOST situations. I think that in most situations the adoption route is the one to take. But I've gotten to the point where I realize,it is not my business (as MrsJones so eloquently put it).
i thought this would be an interesting poll that would show everyone the backgrounds of all of us when we left, if we have.. for myself, i am not df'd, but i am attempting a fade.
i still go to some meetings with the wife to help with kids, but that's it.
no commenting or field service.. what about everyone else?.
To me DA'ing is like a Resignation Letter.
I agree with you. It's like saying, "I'm not going to quit my job, because I don't recognize them as being my employer anymore." It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. But when you DA, at least you are giving your final condemnation or defense against what you see as wrong. It gives you the opportunity to take matters into your hand and not give them the option of DF'ing you. With fading...well...they could df you anytime they want. And then it would not have been your control.
I totally respect where you are coming from Nobleheart. I'm on your side. If it's not too personal, it'd be awesome if you posted your DA letter on the board. Sometimes it helps people when writing their own.
BTW, LWT has a GREAT DA letter. He takes it from the blood stand. He does a fantastic job in showing how their policy shows a gross disrespect for life and how he won't allow that to happen to his family.
this set of scriptures pretty much demolishes "the holy spirit is only god's active force and is only personified throughout the bible" argument (as if the rest book of acts doesn't already).
these verses pretty much put the nail in the coffin of that argument :.

That account in Genesis actually talks about YHWH being one of the 3. It could have been Jesus or the Holy Spirit.
That's the thing that has shocked some people that I've shown the scripture to. Abraham is actually spoken of as FEEDING JEHOVAH HIMSELF! Of course, they take "Jehovah" to mean "Father", but most of us know that that is not the case.

Going along with Mad Sweeny's comment, they claim to have no clergy. Yet if you read the 9/15/2010 WT, they say that by following the GB, they are in fact following Christ himself. No leaders? Distinction without a difference. That's the game they LOVE to play.

There are many cases of the Holy Spirit speaking. And that is not the only thing that makes it CLEAR that He is a person.
1. The Holy Spirit has a mind (1Cor 2:10)
2. He has emotions (Eph 4:30)
3. He has will (1Cor 12:11)
4. He prays for us (Romans 8:26)
5. He speaks (John 15:26)
6. He has omnipresence (Psalm 139:7)
7. He has omniscience (1Cor 2:19)
8. He has omnipotence (Romans 15:19)
The WT likes to argue, though, that the Holy Spirit can't be a person because the Holy Spirit is "poured out" and we are to be "filled" with the Spirit. They forget that in Eph 3:19 we are to be "filled" with God and in Eph 4:10 we are to be "filled" with Christ. Guess that slipped their minds...
it is so strange how once you distance yourself from your kingdom hall and friends, that they find it necesary to discuss and contemplate your departure and put out all kinds of statements that simply are not true.. i am licking my wounds today because some kind of nasty things were said about me to a friend of mine who is df, from her ubber righteous sister.

mamalove...I'm so sorry. They can really hurt you when they try, huh? I think the gossip trend is encouraged in the organization. If someone "goes apostate" then everyone wants to talk about it, and judge the person. How sad it is that the JWs are the actual apostates...But I digress.

YOU ARE NOT BAD NEWS!!! You have brightened my day on MANY occasions. Your posts are refreshing and honest. And yet they are sweet and delicate. Do you know what I call bad news? Someone who passive/agressively sends text messages calling other people names and insulting the spouse of that person.
There's another word I call those people, but I will hold my tongue. It just really makes me angry. You are so sweet and don't deserve that.

I am someone that strives to be the nice guy, sometimes to a fault. But I have strong opinions, so when I write, sometimes my niceness doesn't come out and I offend some people. I'm afraid of people not liking me. I love my kids and my wife. I play the guitar and piano and have written music since I was 12 years old. I've recorded some as well. I was in bethel for 2 years, and met some amazing people there. I left because I didn't feel "good enough" to stay. I came back home with ruined self esteem. My self esteem is at an all time high now. I'm a pretty lazy guy. I'll take a quiet relaxing night at home over a party any day. I am a loyal friend. I am self destructive sometimes, but I'm working on it. I love God and His Word more than anything else. I never had a "love" of Jesus until I came out of the Watchtower, and now I see how I did not honor him just as I honored his Father. I am creative. I am weak. But I can be strong. And....I LOVE BACON!

i went to both collage and uni when i was a jw, i got marked and shunned as a result.
it seemed like every week there would be some dig made from the platform about " those that chose higher education" , my so called "freinds" were constandly on at me " why don't you pioneer highdose?!!".
i even had the ciruit overseer denounce me from the platform as being "spirtualy weak" never mind that most of the peers i grew up with had got themselves reproved or disfellowed and that i was the only who had been good!.
to late for meeeeeee......
It's never too late! Unless your 90 or something, you can go for an education. If money is an issue, the government has some fantastic financial aid programs for adults.
I went to college, but did not make it well known. So no one talked to me about it. Plus, I think it was during the time that they were a bit more relaxed about it. NOW they are coming back strong on how bad it is. People that can think don't make very good cult members.
