Kid needs a beating...Sure this isn't PC but there is nothing wrong with him by this story. He just knows how to push buttons and manipulate people really well. Goes along with the high IQ.
The parents encourage it by "looking for answers" in the mental health arena sometimes. Instead of facing the facts that their kid is just not a good person.

However, I am clarifying Huckabees point for those inclined to shut their ears, point the finger, and scream "Poo-poo head" like 5 yearolds on a playground as soon as anyone remotely conservative opens their mouth.
Huckabee feels that a lack of values and societial standards have led to an environment that makes it easier for the loonies to rationalize this kind of behaviour not harder!
We got no problem enticing Children to be good with Santa, why not keeping the really borderline personality types in line with a little bit of hell. You are free to agree or disagree, welcome to America. You have to remember there are a lot of people in this country that are still children mentally.
I personally see it as a point worthy of consideration. There are plenty of people that didn't believe in Hell or religion through out the history of this country and planet. We just kind of keep quiet most of the time hoping it keeps the crazies from doing anything incredibly stupid, like uhhhhh shooting up an elementary school.
I would love to go back and forth...but I am out the door to put a $20 in the plate at my local UMC church knowing that money will help teach some kids right and wrong, good and bad since no one else appears to be doing it. Even though, I don't believe in God... Religion is just a necessary evil sometimes.
Regardless, if you agree with Huckabee or not. His comments are sincere is my point and should be treated as such. I sure as hell am treating anti-gun folks arguments as sincere this morning. The mental children in our society can't make sense of the Glenn Beck's and Rachel Maddow's of the world like we can. It just confuses them an if they don't have a solid base ends tragically too often.

Entirelypossible....you are making my point. Most of us functional Christians, Atheists, or JWs have "figured it out" There probably is no hell, and it's probable God is indifferent at best so it's up to us to keep the cheese on the proverbial cracker.
For those that have not figured it out yet.... Herion, fundamentalist religion, excessive masturbation...I don't care as long as the dumbass is only hurting himself that's fine by me. It makes you wonder if society has tolerated things like religion and drugs in order to keep these types occupied and destroying themselves instead of taking a room of children with them. I think that is the line of a lot of people's thinking this weekend.
We live in a society where we increasingly recognize Anyone's right to do whatever they want, whenever they want as opposed to valuing being a good citizen, getting in line, and doing your job i.e. Japan. The problem is that some will always see a guy in CO smoking a joint, a lesbian couple getting married in Maine, and in the crazy's twisted mind they think hell ya I should be able to do what I really want to as well. We don't put any guardrails on society anymore and everyone is a f*ckin victim if they don't get what they want in the next five minutes. We have become a nation of spoiled children. Instead of handling these issues like grown up we act like children about it and the loonies just watch and figure it's their turn to make some kind of point. It's no wonder we have people flying over the cliff.
We have to find some balance in our values as a culture between personal liberty and good citizenship.

I think of Huckabee as one of the most sincere guys from that side of the political spectrum. Some of the things he has said about what happens when you don't support Wall ST as a candidate are spot on. He is a a bit of an old foogie at times, but what he is saying here is very clear: "Having kids like Adam scared of Hell wasn't ALL bad." Which is true.....Had Adam Lanza's fear of eternal damnation been enough to make him just go home a jack off or play video games, we would all been better off on Friday. I don't think he is necessary saying all the other b.s. involved is worth it, but I am sure he feels it might be.

Look, I think this tragedy pretty much solidified my suspicon that there is no God. BUT, let's not forget the average IQ of this board is much higher than that of most prisons. People that do this kind of thing are not like anyone you know on this board or hopefully in your life. I have wrestled with the same thoughts that Huckabee articulated since yesterday. I wonder as well if our society is missing some sort of way to weed out these type of people that are so disconnected from other people psychologically that they can do this. That is Huckabee's point in my opinion, that the threat of eternal damnation was a detterent to these idiots that does not exist anymore. It's a point worth considering.
i have seen debates and shizzle about god or not god etc etc.. i was even confronted by an aggressive and trheatening muslim in the street, who was angry that i wanted proof that god existed.

THE TRUTH IS: GOD'S EXISTENCE DOES NOT MATTER.
Here are the facts:
1.NO ONE ON THIS PLANET CAN GIVE EMPIRICAL PROOF OF GOD.
2.God has also decided not to provide us direct evidence of his being we are left in a pickle.
3. Unless you are completely delusional, one must accept that GOD would exist or not exist independent of your belief in him/her. God is not Santa Claus, he doesn't require you to believe in him to be real or not real.
Therefore, in light of the above facts which CAN be proven. The question of God's existence is of no consequence in this life.

I took a tour of Bethel when I was 14. Up until then I was determined to be accepted as soon as I turned 18. I even knew some Bethelites from my home Congo, so we got to eat and see the living quarters. It was depressing to the 14 year old Cage Fighter. I realized very quickly it was going to be a boring life of binding and boxing books and listening to old men drone on about the daily text while I tried to eat the barely edible fare they called "breakfast".
To think all of that would happen to me in the shadow of a cool place like NYC was too make to take. I started drinking and chasing girls very shortly after that trip.

this borders on stalking if it happened the way you said it did. send a tresspass warning in the mail certified to the kh and make a police report. that should be the eend of it.
this is a scenario im sure we have all thought about, and we keep looking for any signs that this may occur.
it would seem like the ultimate victory, and that our only emotion would be joy and relief.. but what if they printed an apology... and it included this:.

Even if it folded, Mr. and Mrs. Uber dub will figure they had been chosen to be the New Adam and Eve as they were the only ones being faithful enough to make it through armegeddon.
Sure, a lot of people like that ones on this board that stay in because they are too lazy or scared to leave would move on with life. However, I think we would be surprised how many Uber dubs would continue on their own. Remember the stories of the Japanese soldiers that hid in caves and refused to believe the Emperor surrendered in WWII. I remember hearing about old men still in their uniforms being found occasionaly and refusing to believe the war had been over for 10, 20, 30 years.
