Ancient,
Yes, I do have a quotation reference from a Watchtower stating this exact thing. However, I will have to go look it up. I don't know it off the top of my head which WT it is.

.. it must not be forgotten that back in the early 1900's the society taught that world war i was the beginning of the great tribulation and when wwi ended--that was the "unless those days were cut short no flesh would be saved" and it was the "these are the ones that come out of the great tribulation" as recorded by the apostle john in his revelation.
when wwii started it was the great tribulation commencing again such that all of those jw's between the two world wars belonged to the great crowd.
in 1968 at the peace on earth international convention, the society changed its teaching and made the great tribulation a yet future event.

matthew 7:15-20. be on the watch for the false prophets that come to you in sheeps covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves.
never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they?
likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit.
Talk about the 'false stylus of the scribe.' (Jeremiah 8:8) The Society is ruled by men who have 'seated themselves [arrogated to themselves] in the seat of Moses'--Scribes & Pharisees! Scribes = the makers of many books; Pharisees = the makers of man-made rules and laws. (Matthew 23) Obviously, if the Master has not come yet, arrived, or is present, then he couldn't have appointed a 'faithful and discreet slave' yet. And Matthew 24 states that Jesus comes, arrives, and is present AFTER THE TRIBULATION which is a yet future event. Thus, not having come yet--he hasn't appointed anybody yet!

LiveLife:
In addition, Jesus says in another place (Matthew 24:24) the following:
"Then if anyone says to you, 'Look! Here is the Christ,' or, 'There!' do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. Look! I have forwarned you. Therefore, if people say to you, 'Look! he is in the wilderness,' do not go out; 'Look!' He is in the inner chambers,' do not believe it."
Now read it again with a bit more discernment.
"Then if anyone [claiming authority to speak and teach you because they supposedly know more than you do] says to you, 'Look! Here is the Christ,' [the Anointed One(s)] or, 'There!' do not believe it. For false Christs [false anointed ones] and false prophets will arise [even from among yourselves] and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible [but it's not really possible because the chosen ones will eventually realize the deception], even the chosen ones. Look! I have forwarned you. Therefore, if people say to you, 'Look! he is in the wilderness [close, but you can't see him],' do not go out; 'Look!' He is in the inner chambers [again 'his presence,' but you can't see him],' do not believe it."

And . . .
Which, frankly, negates the 1935 Great Crowd coming out of or from between the world wars of the Great Trib. They didn't change THAT teaching and few among the JW's realized the ramifications of making the Great Trib a future event thus nullifying the existence of the Great Crowd. Now that the Great Trib is a future event, the Great Crowd coming out of it also has to be a future event--Duh! So . . . there can't be a Great Crowd yet because they don't make a showing until after the Great Trib and therefore all Christians today have a heavenly hope.
(Now as for where the Great Crowd are located, that's another discussion. . . .)
And that's just my two cents.

Now those are some serious tree worshipers.

to keep from hijacking another thread, i'm going to continue this here:.
in the case of an auto accident that causes death or being charged with driving under the influence, the elders can investigate and bring charges against a person.
the charge is "no regard for the sanctity of life".. what's the charge when you allow your child to die because you refused the recommended medical procedure that could have saved them?.
Undercover,
It is written that Jesus gave his blood so that all may live. Are you not to follow "his" example? Okay, so his blood didn't go into your veins, but you do drink it, yes? Again, following his directive, yes?
You also write: "[T]he elders can investigate and bring charges against a person." Only if you hand over "your power" and "your authority" to them. Who gave you your driver's license, the state or the body of elders? Did you register your car with the state or the body of elders? Unless you choose to give the elders (individually or as a collective body) authority, they have no authority over you so that they may "investigate" squat or "bring charges against a person." Is the body of elders a police force? Only if you let them be one in your life.
They will try, oh yes, they will try. But if you give them no "in," they can't do squat.
Why do you give your power, your authority, to others? Why?

hey!
my wife just called me and informed me that in the may 1, 2007, watchtower question from readers on pages 30/31, states that any new anointed are not to be judged by the congregation and that they most likely were wrong in closing the anointed calling in 1935. yeah!.
does this mean that those who professed to be anointed and were kicked out for it will be welcomed back with open arms?
And all the while it plainly, clearly, reads that the 144,000 consist of 12,000 from this tribe, 12,000 from that, etc., etc., totalling 144,000. And yet it plainly reads too that the kings and priests are made up of every tribe, people, tongue, of mankind. And at one point, despite what and how it's written, we believed them.

judicial committee preparation.
recently a friend inquired about how to best prepare for a judicial committee hearing from the prospective of the subject individual.
at a minimum i recommend the following:.
jgnat:
True it is not a court in the secular view; but in the religious and biblical view it is indeed a court. Read the Society's literature on this subject. IT IS A COURT such that you can "appeal" their decision.
