the posts in the elders meeting thread got me thinking about this, so i've spun it off for into another thread.. were you ever 'counseled' because "some" in the congregation were disturbed by things you said/did/listened to/watched?.
here is just some of the stupid stuff that the elders brought me in on.
though they were usually handled through shepherding calls, not in the back room at the kh.. 1: because i decided to change my first and middle names.
hi there.
this is a good point.
i was once called over by the school overseer, to discuss my "obsession" with
CHESS!!!
he told me it was a dangerous thing to spend time competing, and could lead me astray.
funnily enough he later attempted to commit a fraud against me and my brother in an attempt
to have us disfellowshipped. he was removed himself, only after i threatened court action.
thats kinda why im here.

why does there have to be a point in celebrating a festival - why cant.
it just be a good excuse to have the family get together and enjoy each.
others company, have good food and drink and have a few days off to.

hi
you said,
Why does there have to be a point in celebrating a festival - why cant
it just be a good excuse to have the family get together and enjoy each
others company, have good food and drink and have a few days off to
watch some good tv and spend some time playing with your kids on the
floor with their new toys. To most people the religion has gone out of
Christmas anyway.
there is nothing wrong whatsoever in taking advantage of this holiday.
my family has done this for many years.
the problem comes when you try to take up WRONG practices.
please by all means have a party.
but why try to follow every wrong practice that is done ?
if you lived in ancient amazon would you enjoy the yearly holiday from slave like drudgery ?
SURE
but would you then run around looking for virgin hearts to cut out and sacrifice to the gods ?
you know its wrong, and yet you do it.
i am not trying to start a flame war, but it seems to lack a mental courage to go against what you
know to be true.

well, i started today.... christmas shopping!
i have been waiting a long time for this pleasure and i couldn't wait another day!
well, it is only 12 weeks to go!!!
i dont see the point in celebrating it.
its a manipulative holiday.
its not biblical.
if you are not religious anymore, fine, but why would you do it you know its wrong
josephus
you said it.

i thought you folk in the states might like to know how things stand this side of the pond.. sky news interactive showed that 90% of those polled thought that the uk should join with the us military in attacks on countries harbouring terrorists.. the the entrance to the us embassy in london is stacked high with flowers and tributes, the fdr statue in particular has also been similarly honoured.. flags all around the country are at half-mast.. the queen ordered that the daily changing of the guard ceremony at buckingham palace should feature the usa national anthem, this has never happened before at such a nationalistic event.. the famous last night of the proms at the albert hall and hyde park has been restructured to honour the american dead.. it is know that several hundred brits were in the trade centre at the time of the attack.. i just wanted you people to know that your country is by no means on its own in this crisis.
((((((big british hugs))))))).

first of all i wish to exspress my sorrow for everyones loss here.. i hope that no has lost loved ones, sadly it seems very likely.. mr bush and mr powell siad that they must fight against, not just.
terrorists, but the countries who let them operate.. where i live we have faced terrorism for years.. bombs have ripped through women and children.. runners in local funruns have died in carbombs.. my own father dealt with the dying in omagh.
my home has beel bombed.. yet the question was never asked "who paid for there weapons".
sorry i got a bit carried away.
i live in northern ireland, just outside Belfast.
