  This is true. I am still waiting for the full change of understanding regarding responsible members of the great crowd to take over GB positions in the future, even though currently, JW understanding is that only those of the anointed can assume a GB position.

  But back to the hypocrisy issue. If this article was not written for the UN situation as it seems that would be too quick to print, then there must be another form of hypocrisy that will eventually be revealed in due time thanks to all of the members here. How many other forms of hypocrisy can the WT commit???

  I just received this email too. It appears that it is making the rounds across the globe. My forwarded copy came from a relative on an island country. Also, did the author sign off on your email? On mine it says it was written by a Kim Arbuthnot. Anyone here know Kim to verify this is true?

  Something that you must also put into this mix is the internet. The web was not available back in and after 1975. Nowadays, most witnesses that I know have web access with email. This information will spread much quicker than anything related to 1975. My guess is that at LEAST one elder in each hall within two months will have heard of the UN/NGO/WTBTS issue. I do not believe that the WT will be able to ignore this matter.

  Well, since this thread was started in my honor, I might as well bring my idea into this too.

  The "new-light" that we will see, imo, will most likely be directed towards a dead man. If the Society realizes that they cannot provide legitimate spin control on this matter, all they have to do is point a finger. In this case, Brother Lloyd Barry, deceased, and formerly of the Governing Body, will now be exposed as being a former apostate in sheep's clothing. They did it before. What is to stop them from pointing a finger at a dead man when they can do it just as well to a living one(Ray Franz)? Except, Ray told the truth about the organization and was completely honest and forthright in his books. Lloyd is dead and would make a perfect scapegoat. I can see it now...The Society gives Lloyd Barry's widow a million dollars to keep her mouth shut and to not bring litigation against "God's Organization" for a slight mistake that her husband committed.

  BUT, that is just one possibility out of many. Come on, let's hear what everyone else thinks will happen.

  when the watchtower society applied to become a un ngo, they had to agree to support the un.. it *doesn't matter* what their purpose in applying was.

  it could have been to further the preaching work, to be more like all the other religions, or to get lloyd barry's wife off his back because she'd been bugging him for weeks about how much fun it would be to do something with the un.

Barry was an apostate. I know my mother for one always said that Bro. Barry was her favorite of all the GB members. Not sure why, she never met the man. I guess she liked the way he talked!

  Maybe a new thread should be started just for "new light" guesses on this UN matter. I think that would be fun to hear some of your ideas. As it was stated on another thread, all new light comes from the apostates anyway...

  Does God Use An Organization - Debate With Elder!

  i have read tom cabeen's excellent work "does god work through an organization" which i wholeheartedly support.. a while back a jw elder sent me a document which he had written entitled "the christian congregation and the twentieth century" in which he tries to prove that god is using an organization on earth today.

  i am requesting your help in refuting these claims.

  the most significant claims of this document i will present in several parts on this board.

  I and the Society would have to disagree slightly with that point. According to the publication The Revelation of Jesus Christ printed in 1918 by the WTBTS, I quote from the top of page 62 as saying:

  This quote is taken from the Commentary portion of the book. The "3:14" and "And by the angel" are refering to Rev. 3:14 with the commentary immediately following. If Russell was to have started on his own, then Mr. Barbour would not have been mentioned as passing on the torch, so to speak, to Russell. But as stated by the Society, Russell indeed did take over after Barbour became unfaithful. It is Barbour's spiritual heritage line that we are unsure of.

  Just a side note for those of the Hurling Class --- on the same page as above it says of verse 14 regarding the word "write":

  For those techies that understand what this list means, it means that the WTBTS has intentionally shut down their web server operating on port 80(the normal port that your browser connects to when you enter a web address). BUT, you can still visit their website if you access it through port 443, which is their encrypted web server. To do so, just add an "s" after "http". Or you can put a ":443" after watchtower.org(:443). https://www.watchtower.org

  I wonder what the reason for this removal is? Email, telnet, ftp, etc. all still work fine. Is there going to be a major revamp on their website? Or are they now heeding their own advice and killing their site? Any thoughts?

  I believe that I may have the record for the longest duration with the least amount of posts on this board. My first board ever was H20. When that board went away from its original host Cyberpass, I hunted around and found this one.

  I hope I get the chance to post more than just lurking(which is about all the time I have to do). A lot of names are familiar here, most of which are transplants from H20.

  so many visions leaving many to wonder what do they mean?
