Why? Well because my mother said so.
Our mothers must have been sisters. Oh snap! That would mean we're cousins! You wouldn't happen to be from W. Virginia would ya?
.
when you were a jw, what led you to think that the watchtower had god's approval?.
just because they said so??

since realising that this organisation doesn't have the truth, i've started to notice a lot of hypocritical statements from other jw's.
they criticise others for doing the same things they do, though they don't seem to realise it.
as i'm still a part of this organisation, it makes it very frustrating for me to hear these things, and not be able to shout out about their hypocrisy.
saying how crazy it is that Muslim's would be willing to kill all their family and friends if those people weren't muslims.
It's not hypocritical to say that jah will kill the worldlings. Jah is the one doing the killing, not the jdubbers.

No, because my mom said so.
at the service meeting the other day the "friends" were given an opportunity to discuss the district convention (portland, or, june 30-july 2).
) people baptized at that convention.
a bigger number than i remember for at least a decade.
how old I was getting to be, and "oh, my goodness, still not baptized?" the dirty looks, the hints, the talks about how we wouldn't be under the parents' umbrella of protection if Armageddon came right now
I wonder if the "brothers" have a harder time with this. Since I was baptized at 18, it was probably beginning to look like I might skip out. In the congregation I was in when I was baptized, there was one particular brother who ALWAYS asked me to say prayer. AND I WASN'T BAPTIZED YET. I would get that little nervous look on my face and shake my head slightly. Then he would say, "Oh that's right. I forgot you're not baptized yet." If you went and visited friends out of state, they would ask you to say prayer at the meals. Do you know how embarrassed you feel when you say you can't 'cause you're not baptized yet? If you're old enough to grow facial hair, or drive for that matter, it is automatically assumed that you are already baptized.
In my case, embarrassment worked wonders. No wonder I hate the org with a passion these days.

half of those 41 "baptismal candidates" were under the age of 13. Four fifths of them were teenagers or younger.
I wonder if they had enough chlorine in the pool to kill all of the bacteria from the urine....

I wish I could go back to 1991 and tell my 18 year old self to ask the elders, "Would there be anything wrong in following Jesus' example by waiting to get baptized when I am 30 years old?"
I would love to see their expressions.
some years ago, when the 'voluntary donation' arrangement was announced, the society followed it up with a period of near panic.. they flooded the kingdom ministry, watchtower and circuit assemblies with pleas "reminding" the friends to open up their wallets.. eventually, they calmed down and accepted the situation, especially after coming up with new scams involving "deficits" at assemblies.
and appeals for property being willed to them.. .
it is with this background that i note a burst of emphasis about porn.
In this day and age(of the internet), the WTS is more worried about the r&f finding out about the skeletons in their closet. Sure, porn probably leads into and accounts for a large percentage of df'ing's each year, but in most of those cases, the 'repentant wrongdoer' typically comes back. But what about information found on "apostate" websites? Once that info is unlocked and dwelled upon, the newly created apostate will not likely return to the fold.
There is a huge difference between the two. Using porn as an internet deterrent is wise on their part. If you demonize porn, you end up demonizing the internet as collateral damage. They can't come out and say directly "don't use the internet." But if they heavily allude to the "fact" that you will "most likely" run into porn while surfing, that might scare a few jdubs into dumping their internet connection. Once that is accomplished, access to "apostate" sites is eliminated. But the problem here is, they waited about 10 years too late. Most jdubs have internet access now and it will only grow as time goes on.
I think the porn excuse is just a last ditch effort to demonize the internet. All jdubs know porn is bad - they can't even make excuses for viewing it. But if they come across a site such as this, they can rationalize to themselves (or the elders) that they are trying to "defend" the truth. But this is even more dangerous in the eyes of the gb. You don't have to think about much when viewing porn. But you have to when viewing "apostate" sites.
napa wt child abuse case.
two important court decisions, which came out of napa valley, ca, are now available for us to post on jwd.
these significant rulings overturn objections regularly made by the watchtower in recent lawsuits and may serve as a precedent for future lawsuits.
Chew on this (from the March 1, 2000 BoE letter):

The WTS owns the KH's in the end. I would say there is certainly a connection there. But did you notice a couple of items? What would happen to the KH's if the WTS lost its tax exempt status? And what if the term "governing body" was done away with? I'm wondering if the breakup of the org into a multitude of tax exempt corporations was to give them many many options of transferring the ownership of the KH's if most of them eventually lost their tax exempt status. How many corps were there? The gov't would have to nail each and every one of them. Otherwise, if just ONE tax exempt org existed, the gb has the legal power to keep the KH's under WTS ownership.
No wonder the WTS keeps banging away with the "gb is great" routine. That is their ultimate fallback if they lose their tax exempt status. Lose the gb and they have a big gap in the articles of incorporation of the KH's.
eh heh?
i know this is either going to be one of those topics where people consider it a popularity contest or something....i'm just being an imp and seeing if anyone will be forward enough to tell about the person that they would like to date.. me, i'm married so that leaves me out!

Dirty, dirty minds! You should be ashamed of yourselves. Writing about such things on a family oriented board.
