Are Mormons even [slightly] discouraged from attending any college other than BYU? I know that mormonism is taught as part of the curriculum at BYU, but I always wondered if they pushed BYU first, and then other colleges as a last resort - such as if moving to Utah would pose a financial burden.

I do not think the scan wording was changed because it is still damaging...
I should have put in the tongue-in-cheek pic, cuz my remark was to describe how the pro-jw folks like to use that reasoning against apostate sites. "We never said that. The apostates must have altered the wording to make it look like we said it."

Society laying the groundwork for "new light"?
by sir82 inin the january 1 2007 wt, there is the following quote in one of the articles regarding the "first resurrection" (there are a few other posts on that article already):.
it seems that resurrected ones of the 24 elders group may be involved in communicating of divine truths today.. this may be the most significant sentence in the article (haven't read it in its entirety yet).
i don't recall seeing anything like it in print before.. seems to be laying the groundwork for a "flash of new light", to be exposed probably whenever the last of the 3 old-timers hanging on (barr, barber, jaracz) drop off:.

It seems that resurrected ones of the 24 elders group may be involved in communicating of divine truths today.
The only way they can make this fly is by establishing a correlation of the 24 to jah's holy spirit. Do the 24 run a pirate broadcast on the hs's frequency? I have a feeling we will be seeing "apparently," "it stands to reason," "no doubt," and "the evidence indicates" listed in upcoming articles explaining how the hs is directly related to the 24's message to the fds.

Watchtower logo on side of kingdom hall
by cyberdyne systems 101 inmy old kingdom hall has the watchtower logo built into the brick work on the side that faces the road - to me for a hall that is supposed to be dedicated to god, its a bit wrong to have a corporation logo on the side of it.
maybe its there to show they and not the congregation own it???

what is the difference in wearing a cross and wearing a lapel pin or tie tac with the watchtower logo?
Well DUH silly! Jesus didn't die on a watchtower. "True Christians" don't need to be reminded of what instrument of death he was killed with.
Besides, wearing a WT logo on a tie tack rather than a pic of *Jesus looking heavenward* shows allegience to the WTS, not a deity. Which do you think is looked upon more favorably by the gb?
Bottom line is, you cannot be df'd, reproved, or lose privs for wearing a tie tack with a WT logo. Wear one with Jesus' face on it, and not a cross, and see what happens...

wore a tie pin with the Watchtower symbol on it.
The only jw related tie tacks I ever saw had the tetragrammaton on them. In fact, back in the San Diego area, a sister in our hall was big into china painting. She did all of the tetra tie tacks for everyone around. Any hall you went to in the SD area, you were bound to run into one of her "works."

Oh, and I loved his reaction to the bartender when he ordered a martini. The bartender asked if he wanted it shaken or stirred and Bond replied, "Do I look like I give a damn?" I actually let out a burst of laughter on that one(I think I was the only one to do that in the theater). I think everyone was expecting him to initiate the infamous line of, "Shaken, not stirred."
