How long was Spry treated with EPO? How long was the duration of his hospital stay? EPO doesn't take effect immediately. Just curious...

Background information about HLCs and HIS (M. Spry) from B. Anderson
by hawkaw inhere is some background information about hlcs:.
we were at brooklyn bethel when the hlc policy went into effect in the united states, if memory serves us correctly, sometime in the mid to late1980s.
dr. jack carleton, a personal friend and one of the doctors at watchtower farms, told us at the time that the idea of hospital liaison committees came from canada, and eugene rosam (now deceased), at the canadian branch, was instrumental in getting it started there.

Revived beast sick of Unipolar Babylon the Great
by proplog2 intoday putin accused the united states of making the world a more dangerous place by pursuing policies aimed at making it "one single master".
attacking the concept of a "unipolar" world in which the united states was the sole superpower, he said: "what is a unipolar world?
no matter how we beautify this term it means one single centre of power, one single centre of force and one single master.".

What happens when we(everyone on this board) all die from natural causes, 200 years pass by, our great, great, great, great grandchildren will be living on this earth and the question of who is the KotN, Wild Beast, et al, is still lingering in the air?
Everyone living during THEIR generation feels that the end of the world will happen while they are still alive. I've come to realize the fact that nothing the WTS has taught me(or any other apocalyptic group which says the end is just around the corner) in the past will come true during my lifetime, if ever. I'm just a guy who happened to be born in 1973 in San Diego, CA and is now living in Lansing, Michigan 34 years later. If I stay pretty healthy up into my 70's and 80's, I'll be happy. If there is some deity out there that has other plans for the earth before I die, then so be it.
But I do agree with Putin over the fact that the USA's military presence is making the world less safe. How many other countries have multi-national military bases on par with the USA? And why does the USA feel they need to be the
bully in the schoolyardworld police? Global domination by one single country makes me sick - especially when I am a citizen of that country and am associated with it wherever I go internationally. -

2008 Changes to the Watchtowers
by Inquisitor ini don't know if someone else has already posted about this.
i tried looking a page or two back in this section, but didn't find any thread on this news.
if someone has, pls add the link in this thread.. no, the watchtowers aren't gonna be monthly like the awake, but apparently the w mags will be designed in this way:.

Whenever the changes go into effect, we will be able to tell by the drastic drop in published numbers(inside the front cover). One of the WT's will still have ~32 million printed, while the other will have ~6-8 million copies printed.
So now, which KM is going to make this announcement? Or will they spill it first at the DC's? Nah, it'll probably just be in a KM.
I'm curious to know if these cuts stem from a single cashflow savings plan(spread out over a few years), or if they are implementing these cuts as the need arises? The best(for us) would be that they are cutting as the need arises. This would show that they are severely winding down in operations and are losing money left and right. But if this is part of a single, cost-cutting plan, then its better for them.

1st of month issue - for public, no study articles, (kinda like Awake??)
It sounds like the Awake is about to go bye-bye.

Since Bethel monitors this board, I would love to know how these cost cutting ideas get pitched to the higher ups. I normally don't brag, but I love to bring this up every now and then when news of the literature getting cut gets out. I think it would be hilarious if someone who was watching the board brought these ideas to the gb's table (from Dec. '04 -- before announcement of Awake scaling back):
Should we cut back on the magazine distribution timeframe? How about combine the WT and Awake into one magazine? Instead of twice a month, how about just once? This alone would cut expenditures on printed materials by almost 50-75%. And the books? Well, we already did away with hardcover and we also cut the physical size of most books to roughly 50% of the older larger ones. Can we take advantage of electronic distribution? Would some witnesses prefer to print out Adobe PDF files of the magazines? Instead of offering the WT and Awakes at the doors, why not switch to using just tracts? Save the magazines for studies and witnesses themselves. Tracts would cost less to produce and effectively carry the same message as the magazines.
Damn you Borg! I want my consultation fee!

Would that mean that they would only print 6 million of the 15th of the month magazine, just enough for all the current JWs?
What is the current amount they print? Over 100 million? Less? Does anybody have a latest mag to see how many go into circulation? But yeah Gill - imagine how much they save if they were to cut back from 100 million copies to ~6 million copies. Probably in the neighborhood of several million dollars, per month.

I just think its so funny that when it comes to scrutinizing their cash flow, we can guess exactly what steps they are going to take before they actually do it. New light my ass.

the 15th of the month edition will be only hardcore study articles, specific info for jw's only and will NOT be offered or distributed to the general public or irregular meeting attendees
If true, it will be just as predicted years ago. One less magazine in the monthly distribution cycle to hand out
for a donation. I'm guessing if this comes to fruition, the Awake will be the next to go. -

Would the WT club have mandated the prodigal son be shunned?
by LexWatson inthe prodigal son's father met him out on the road as he approached, put a fine robe around his shoulders and had rings made for him.
they had a big party as he announced "my son has come home!!
" everone knew he had blown his inheritance on liquor and prostitutes.. wouldn't the wt "arrangement" have mandated a comittee meeting to have been held to determine if they felt he was truly repentant and most probably he would have to had a period of time that he was shunned so they could tell the congregation "that situation had been dealt with".

The WTS is usually pretty good about covering themselves, but did you notice something in these statements? ---
"While he was yet a long way off, his father caught sight of him and was moved with pity, and he ran and fell upon his neck and tenderly kissed him."
Compare that with:
no doubt has some idea of his son’s repentance by observing his sad, downcast countenance as he returns
the father ran to meet and then accepted his returning son. The father, seeing the lad’s pitiful condition, responded with natural parental concern.
This shows that when a Christian who has become wayward shows genuine repentance , Jehovah will feel pity and tenderly accept that one back.
First of all, the scripture says that the father felt pity as soon as he saw his son while he was yet "a long way off." The father didn't feel pity after running to see his son, but rather, as soon as he caught sight of him. How could anyone judge someone's repentance based on seeing them "a long way off?" No one can. The same could be said of a JC committee waiting for you to show up at the kh. Imagine them waiting on the kh street corner watching for your car. As soon as they see you driving down the road from a quarter mile away, they immediately judge you based on your facial expressions. No JC meeting required. Sound about right? Wouldn't this parallel the Prodigal Son story? Secondly, how many people do you know have cried during their JC meeting to avoid being df'd? Wouldn't that show repentance? Or could they just be faking it? It takes time to watch an individual to see whether or not they return to their prior sinful state rather than immediately judging them within an hour's time. So in this case, the father immediately accepted his son back without waiting for him to prove that he left his former acts of drinking/whoring.
Yep, the WTS definitely has it all ass-backwards. The bible has nothing to do with their df'ing policy. If it did, a party would be held to welcome the erring one back. And the deal about the clapping? I believe this decision was made due to not offend another in the hall if the df'd one did something against another person in the hall. Again, this goes against the PS story. What did Jesus say about the father's other son? Wasn't he pissed because his father held a party? And what did his father tell him? Basically, "suck it up bitch. your brother came home."
