Why is this so wrong? If you steal, rape, murder, etc., you know what the punishment will be. One of the greatest allies to the USA practices this form of punishment. Why doesn't the USA reprimand Saudi Arabia for this act? We have the death penalty here in the USA as well. Does it matter how the form of punishment is carried out? Personally, I would much rather have my head lopped off over getting fried in the electric chair. Does it matter if it is aired on tv? SA does it out in public after prayers. Again, the USA just looks the other way -- and maybe you should too if you don't agree with your government's policies.

Do you Sudoku?

i tried the one in the newspaper the other day and just about solved it.

but thought i should start small and work my way up to get a better understanding of how it's played.. so i picked up a sudoku mag at target the other day.

it's an easy one and i'm really getting the hang of it and enjoying it.

They must have powdered cocaine in those sudoku books cuz I can't stop doing them. If you have Verizon Wireless, you can download VZW's Sudoku for your phone(GetItNow). I only play the "master" ones and my best time is 9:48. My next best two times are in the 10's. It almost seems impossible to break that 10 mark. I think the game gave me a fluke "sensei" puzzle and that's why I got under 10 minutes.

So yes, Sudoku phreak here as well.

Yep, those bodies are for real. I saw a making of special on it and those guys had to work out extremely hard for a few months to get like that. RIPPED!

I want to see it for the cinematography aspect. The storyboarding and direction just looks awesome. Just a couple more weeks!

What's your favortie drink?

so here i sit on a saturday night nursing my favorite bottle of wine.

a pinot grigio.

so what drink does it for you?.

This is easy - no hesitation here...

Mixed drink --- Mojito. I prefer to make my own from scratch rather than have one served to me.(I typically use organic ingredients whenever possible)

Wine --- Hmmm. Depends on the mood and situation. If I'm drinking one on its own, a pinot noir or a late harvest riesling. Michigan is primarily a riesling hotbed due to the temps and location. Anything else grown here just doesn't quite have the potential to match up with other states/countries. The reds here suck. No long periods of warmth.

Beer --- When I've got a little extra change in my pocket, I splurge on a Chimay Grande Reserve(Blue). Otherwise, if I travel to a state which sells New Belgium Brewery's beers, I will try to load up on a case or two of 1554, Fat Tire, Trippel, and Abbey.

Hard Liquor --- I just love Bushmill's 10. It has a sort of almond and toffee flavor combo that I get semi-orgasmic over.

My gran died/first meeting with my whole family since father's admission

i got a call tuesday afternoon that my gran (in the us) had a massive stroke and was in a coma.

they already knew that they were going to have to transfer to hospice.. i flew out wednesday, and the horrendous trip began.

we were a bit delayed coming in to washington because there was a plane sitting on the runway.

(((wolfgirl))) I know exactly how you felt. I just went through a very similar situation last month with my grandpa dying. Luckily, I only had my dad and an elder to confront. The rest of my family in IA are not jw's.

After reading what you wrote, I couldn't believe how close to home it hit.

The Iranians claim that they are just seeking to produce much needed nuclear energy and not nuclear weapons but who can trust them?

Just one question....Is it about "trusting" them or abiding by a treaty which was signed by both the USA and Iran? Personally, trust has nothing to do with it. If the US doesn't want Iran getting nuclear technology, then they should back out of the treaty and stop hassling Iran with rhetoric and invade. Iran should just withdraw from the treaty anyways with all the $hit they have to deal with coming from the US. But if they do, then Bush will use that as a way to say, "LOOK! They want to avoid having the IAEA inspect their facilities for nuke weapon capability! We must invade!" It's a catch-22 for Iran.

If the USA pulled out of Iraq....the Iranians and Syrians will own the country and the Oil. Don't ya know that is why these two countries are helping the insurgents. Iran and Syria don't give a damn about the people.

And why is it better for the US to control the flow of oil compared to say, Iran or Syria? I wonder if the world would find it acceptable for Iran to set up military bases in Iraq? If not, why not? They have the same right to be there just as the US does.

and of course the USA is there for the OIL, BUT I do think they want to help the people as well. At least I hope so.

Oil is just one of many reasons(it helps keep the Humvees and Abrams tanks humming). Imperial dominance is probably nearer to the top.

The Bush administration needs an excuse to go after Iran and Syria, and thats why they are saying that the insurgents are getting their weapons from these 'terrible' regimes.

That, along with UN SC defiance by not shutting down enrichment activities. The old Downing Street Memo outlined what Bush's plans were prior to invading Iraq. By building "evidence" against Iran one step at a time, we are being led into very familiar territory once again. I'm just waiting to hear of an "alleged" attack on US troops by an Iranian ship/jet/missle which will give Bush the ooomff he needs to start up another war. When I say "alleged," I mean an attack by the US against the US. It wouldn't be the first time a scheme like this was dreamed up.

point fingers at Americans for the excuse to kill your fellow countrymen. That makes sense!

Let's go back to the occupied USA example for a minute. What if the Democrats acquiesced to the occupiers and fully supported them, even going the distance to help set up a new form of government, one that was not a democracy. And on the other hand, we have the staunch Republicans who will not bow to any other form of government, let alone being occupied by another country. Radical Republicans start attacking the supporters of the occupying country - the Democrats. The Democrats start fighting back. Religion doesn't even factor into this chaos. It's Red against Blue. Even within some groups, there are Democrats who take the side of the Republicans in that they despise the occupation. They attack their own "people" for giving support.

Hypothetical situation or not, this would probably happen. In the USA, just look at how people on both sides are disparaging each other simply for supporting or denouncing the war in Iraq. The ones for the war call the pacifists "Anti-American" and "terrorist supporters." These are just words, but really, how far off are we from having our own little civil strife between these groups? When these group's emotions get fired up as it is and we don't even have an occupying force in our backyard, how safe do you think the streets would be if we did?

A similar situation is happening in Iraq right now and we were the cause of it. You have two distinct populations vying for power and control of the country. They're not killing each other for the fun of it. They both want control of the country and the US forces are stuck in the middle of one of the largest power plays in the history of man. The US might as well get the hell out of Dodge and let them fight it out. If not, this thing is going to linger for many, many more years.
