This will help them accomodate the reduction in kigdom halls. with this arrangement there is the ability to have 4 meetings a day on sunday
As was "foretold" years ago, once the WTS feels the cash crunch, they will have to start selling KH's to stay afloat(this isn't just a guess - it is going to happen eventually). It could be that this announcement is primarily for larger cities where there are several congregations colocated in a reachable geographic area. In other words, if a city(including suburbs) has 10 congregations and 5 KH's, the WTS can sell at least 2 KH's and force the congregations to merge or share the remaining KH's. Four congregations per hall is about the maximum. I used to attend a KH in El Cajon, CA where the first Sunday meeting started at 10:00am and the last meeting of the day started at 7:00pm(1 hour in between each). But it wouldn't surprise me to see or hear reports of KH's being sold more frequently. I would also assume that the WTS will try to keep it fairly quiet.

Grew up and lived in Alpine from about 1980-1992. Went to El Cajon Valley and Alpine congs.
Still have a bunch of family in the San Diego area(luckily none are jw's). I'm still tentatively planning to come out there late this summer or fall. My grandmother is getting old and I really need to see her before she passes on.

Just finished seeing Michael Moore's SiCKO
by Jourles ini just got home from bellaire, mi where the first us premiere screeing of sicko took place.
mm has shown the film to a few private groups, but he specifically said that we were the first "paying group" to see it.
there were two showings - i got to see the first showing at 1:00.. first let me say that this film is not political in any way.

Will The New Watchtower Kill Off The Awake?
by metatron ini don't know if any of you have considered this but is the new watchtower arrangement partly intended.
to permit the end of the awake magazine?.
it is a financially difficult thing for a religion the size of the "truth" to publish one - much less two .

BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?
by Black Man ini often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

Maybe my f-i-l could get this. He's in the early stages of Alz. He's also a test patient for Baylor University. I'll have to forward this on, but I'm sure the docs at Baylor have heard of this already.

Baptism at age 11 next Saturday
by Fatfreek ini just learned that one of my grandsons (whom i've never met) will be baptized on saturday.
he will be twelve in november.
what's happening within the publishing company to inspire this sort of thing?
-
Jourles
Illustrative of their experiences is that of one young man from El Salvador who, at the age of ten, submitted to baptism
That made me laugh. Here we have a "young man" all of ten years of age. I would like to see the WTS's definition of when a male child becomes a young man. A 10 year old kid is just that - a freakin' kid!

jourles, how did you score a private viewing?
I bought a ticket in advance. The only thing is, it cost me $40 and the proceeds went to the Antrim County Democrats. But I think it was worth it anyways.
I just read this on the Christian Science Monitor:
If a Republican president is elected in 2008, reform will be "relatively timorous," says Aaron, possibly involving deductions for health insurance premiums on income and payroll taxes. Changes will probably most benefit the well-to-do, he says, and not much will be done to cover the 47 million Americans without health insurance.
If a Democrat is elected president, reform could be more ambitious. The "implicit taboo" on a large-scale health plan that followed Hillary Clinton's failed effort in 1993 is gone, says Aaron. But no Democratic candidate is advocating a national health insurance plan, a move that would substantially redistribute national income and impact strong health-industry interest groups.
...
So far, such Democratic presidential candidates as John Edwards and Barack Obama are advocating plans that keep the private health insurance industry intact.
So who is sponsoring a national health care plan?? Anyone? Bueller?

Heh, check out this link. In it, the article says:
Moore, 53, has been vocal in his support of downloading pirated movies as long as movie pirates don't profit.
If that doesn't sound like an invitation to me, I don't know what does! Plus, it backs up what MM said at the Bellaire premiere about not caring if people download it or not. He's not going to press charges against anyone for downloading it and watching it.
