Evolution is true except for man. He is a unique creation.
God put the forces in motion for evolution to take place. So the most accurate way of saying it is... Gods creations evolved.

i remember we were studying that book the same time they were teaching the theory of evolution in my biology class.

What proof do they have to show theyre anointed? How do the elders know who is and isnt? They must have some sort of criteria or else they wouldnt be able to say this one is or isnt really anointed. The whole thingis too mysterious for me.

The Amish
by James_Slash ini watched an interesting programme last night on the amish religion.
i remember watching the film "witness" many years ago with harrison ford so i already had an insight into what sort of people they were.. they seem a peaceful, family/community orientated group who stick to the teachings in the bible like glue.
when jesus spoke about 'being separate from the world' surely no-one could have followed this more than the amish.

I think youre right about the amish. They live closer to the bible than the Jw's in the aspect of being no part of the world. The only problem is they are "stabbing themselves with many pains". They dont need to be so damned hardcore to live that kind of life. The modern homesteaders are living like amish but are youthfull and funloving.
I wish I could start a community similar to the amish but be more loving and tolerant. Thats the best way to preach the good news. Lead by example. Show how a community can live without modern commercialism.
Guess Im just too much of a neo-hippie.

Birthdays and Jehovah

ever since leaving the watchtower i aways do something on or round that day with my sister.
we usually go to lunch and do something like see a movie, play golf, or spend the day at the beach together.

Birthdays are a problem if you are going to live forever. The concept of time changes when youve been alive for hundreds of years. To put a timeline on your life marks an end to it. I was born. Dont remember when. Dont care. Planning on living 200 years old at least in this imperfect world to prove that point. My not celebrating birthdays is not because of god. Its because of me. But not celebrating birthdays because the only mention of it in the bible is negative, is stupid superstition. Have fun.

Jehovah provides for pioneers but takes no action on behalf of children being abused
by jambon1 inthis was something that i could never get my head around.. i recall being at a convention and a pioneer couple (who happened to be complete arseholes) were talking about how they had had this bill for a car repair & 'didn't know what they were going to do so they prayed about it & waited on jehovah'.
the bill was for 66.73 & within a few days they had returned home to find an electricity rebate made out to them for 66.73. et voila!
all sorted out.

Im so sorry for both of you. I had the same thing. Always prayed but never got help. The example youre using of pioneers getting a car is superstition. If you pray for a car and you get one it had to be god. But if you pray for help from abusers then god isnt listening. That flawed outlook on god is exactly why the JWs are turning people away from him. Thats not what god is. He is deeper than our mere mortal earthly problems. God is the harmony of the universe. When you take time to notice the way the food chain works and the ocean currents, or the migration of the monarch butterfly you can see amazing harmony. Its not his fault we are not in synch with the universe. It is us thats busted. Very horrible bad things are going to happen to even innocent children. All we can do in this world is to teach them this fact. Teach them that horrible things can happen to you and the only thing that matters is your outlook on them. You do have a measure of controll over all the chaos. You controll how you percieve things. Some people grew up without enough love from mommy and become serial killers. Some grow up the same way but become loving devoted parents to not let what happened to them happen to their kids. Same bad thing but different outlook changes the whole ballgame.
This will not always be. Eventually God will step in. When he does none of this will have mattered.
Why?
Because after you have lived ten thousand years some bad event that happened in your youth will have no effect on your life. It seems like people live a whole life in misery. But if God is really going to do what he says then in the scheme of things nothing can go on too long or be too horrible to endure for such a short time. Sounds too easy. Im not saying you are expected to be superman. Just saying we should look for love in this world and give love freely. Dont focus on the negative. God has not abandoned you. Weve abandoned him.
Now que the rage that the readers will direct at me for sticking up for god...

The Diary of an Armageddon Survivor

day 1. well, the big a is over and i survived.

Day one. Wake up and realize you made it. Go to local hall to se who else made it. Ride the streets and look for unbelieving survivors.
Week 2. All survivors are here and we need to decide what to do.
The plan is to go where the weather is temperate. Must be 20 miles away from any nuke powerplant or navy base.
no work is done. no farming. Just go to stores that sell good hiking gear and get to walkin.
Eventually we all feel a pull to a specific place. When we arrive we are greeted to some big city in what was canada. Its warm as florida there these days.
When we arrive at site you are given an aptitude test and asked what your interests and hobbies are. You will be shown a list of positions to be filled by people matching your personality type. You get to choose your job. NO assignments. Quickly infrastructure is brought back. There are plenty of materials to build a susstainable living cycle.
Some will be farmers. some will be teachers of children and some teach the resurected. For them its more like a debrief. Some will become priests.
Just as in heaven, everyone stays busy working on making a better universe. You will never be a slave. Your job will be a gift and will bring tears to your eyes because of the happiness you can finally enjoy.
I look forward to the day when elders are there by Gods choosing. The good ol boy club will be dismantled. Leaders will be loving and helpfull.

God's forced PLOT point (which just doesn't make sense!)
by Terry inthe bifurcation of christianity's dealing with the "plot" that drives god's "plan" is never more explicitly revealed as not logically reasoned out than when it comes to the "good" and the "evil" being judged.. what is the point in judging "evil" if god is going to simply call the same sinful, imperfect man "good" who confesses christ?.
it makes about as much sense as putting a zero on top of a zero and calling it 8.. justification is nothing more than calling evil "good" by reframing the context.

Man is cousin to the angels. We are the same as angels except we are spirits manefested in flesh. This is how we were made to interact with the world. We werent created to fail. We werent pre determined to make these choices. Our cousins were jealous of us. They set us up in the garden. We coulda realized that we dont need advanced knowledge of the spirit world. We should be happy enjoying the word we can see and interact with. Not the hidden world beyond our eyes. But eventually somewhere, someone woulda had to peek.
Why must it go on for so long? The people that live through armegedon will look back after being alive for 10,000 years and see what weve gone through as a drop in a hat. In the consept of time we havent bee waitning that long. We must remember we are currantly trapped in a set life span. Like flies that only like a short time we are the same to god. The problem isnt him. Its were moving too fast to understand the scope of everything around us.
As far as goats and sheep.... goats arent as dosile as sheep. They would be the very ones to do greater good.. The sheep are people that follow easilly and with whole heart. They are just as important. But this stubborn goat is getting his ticket to paradise. Most goats wont make it out of pride. I am not easily swayed. But always open to new ideas. A goat if you ever saw one.

Can someone tell me why many people on here let man get in the way of God? If the WT and GB are doing things wrong why do we get mad at God? Why doesnt anyone stand up for themselves? So what about shunning and loosing familly. Real familly wouldnt stop talking to you because the church is mad. Why arent there more people challenging these things?
The dubs say they are the true religion because when apostates try to start another sect they always fail. I think they fail because too many of them have selfish motives. I think the JWs are the closest thing to the truth. But close isnt good enough. The hindu's and buddists are close too. Still dont make them the true religion. Why isnt there one true religion on this planet? Something easy to see and follow. I dont get it.
