hey guy's how it going?

my name is alan_56 and i'm new here on the forum!

i've been reading a lot of the information that was posted up here for a while and i truly believe now that jehovah's witnesses do not have the truth, and that i have been living a lie my entire life.

Welcome Alan! Good for you that you found out about the lack of truth in the org at the age of 17. Please don't let anyone pressure you to do anything. You can bring up Jesus and say that he is the model to follow and that he got baptized at the age of 30. You can say you don't feel ready or perhaps don't feel mature enough to handle the responsibility as it is a lifetime commitment. You could point out that you can't legally drink or rent a car so why rush other things. Please do take care that the depression you mentioned doesn't get out of hand. Perhaps get involved in a physical activity to keep you busy and active and it helps with stress.

Enjoy your youth. Get an education. Life your life.

Hi Loz - no it's not easy for sure! Please do keep us posted. One thing for sure is this has made me a more empathetic and less judgmental person. You just never know what people are going through in their lives. One kind word to someone can mean the world to them when they are down. I know it helps me. We'll get through this! Strenght and determination. Knowing others are going through this and that they understand helps tremendously.

A JW MOTHER'S SO CALLED LOVE

before i tell you my story i just want to say thank you to everyone on this forum for their sometimes funny,and sometimes sad, and sometimes very thought provoking posts, it has helped me a lot.. my family, which consists of a younger brother and a younger sister and my parents.

we began studying with the jw's as a family (mother's insistence) in the mid 1980's.. i was then 13, my sister 12, my brother 7, my mother thought she found the answer to all life's problems and became fully brainwashed, and hence if we wanted to be a happy family we had to all become jw's, and so because we were young and mainly to keep our mother happy we all became jw's.. all i can say is my parents life might have been, happier but mine was far from happy.

i left home as soon as i could i was 16.. my sister at 18 got married to a jw, and they bought a house and settled in to married life, when my sister had her first child at 19 her son was 6 weeks old when my parents moved into their home for a few weeks, while their new home was ready to move into.. during their stay in my sisters home they all got on really well despite a small house and no room to move.

Please send her lots of love and hugs from me! This is NOT her fault in any way. She has lots of support. I wish the best for her healing as well as yours.

Little Imp - thank you for your kind words! I truly hope your husband can share his story here one day. It helps to get it out and it will help in his healing process. I wish you guys all the best too.

Did being raised a JW give you a higher moral code?

i have noticed something interesting at work recently.. i don't want to go into too much detail, but our new owners have introduced a customer contract that is so one sided that it is technically unethical although not legally.

i don't like it and won't sell it.. i asked the jw's where i work what they thought of this contract.. to my surprise only 2 are troubled by the nature of this contract (both young and quite wishy washy in the "truth").. the others didn't seem concrened at all and would be happy to tie customers into it, after it all secures the company's finances.. the interesting thing is almost all the "worldly" members of staff feel the same way as as me.. i thought my reservations were due to my jw upbringing - obviously not!.

The KH I've been in I have seen: child abuse, molestation, date rape drug use, wife battery, jealousy, spite, hate, gossip, slander, more gossip, more jealousy, unethical business practices, lying, deceit, cunning, prejudice, misogyny, chauvanism, more gossip, more jealousy, alcoholism, more wife battery, discrimination, injustice, adultery, swinging, etc. . .

I saw less of the above in school and at work and in my non-witness family. I always suffered more within the org than with the supposed "wicked worldly ones."

I would have to say that they SAY they teach morals but really they FORCE morals out of FEAR of being destroyed. Any time such things are forced out of fear there are two reactions: Dissenters and suppressors. I saw a lot of dissenters. The suppresors are all on medications.

I'm not saying that there are no JWs with a high moral code but these are ones who do it because THEY KNOW it is the right thing to do out of their own hearts and from a good loving upbringing.

Of course this is just my experience and how I see it.

I completely agree. I have the same pattern as you with the crying for days out of the month. I am going to seek counselling as well. It's just hard trying to find a counsellor with experience in cults and mind control.

HELP REQUEST - Judicial Committee Hearing tonight!

My insides are in a knot reading this. I'm so sorry for the witch hunt you are going through. My day is coming soon as I got a phone call from a "loving" elder telling me that the CO and body of elders are running out of patience with me (I've refused to talk to them so far). This cult is sick beyond belief. It takes love and turns it into hate and spite. The mind control is so aggressive that it is eating people's minds out meeting by meeting, WT by WT, song by song. They are destroying families and ripping children away from their parents. EVIL.

My thoughts are with you and your wife. I wish you all the best and I hope and pray that you will know what to do and say at the right time.

My kid gets it

so last night my 6 year old tells me that her dad said to her while tucking her in at night "mama is going to die because she caused the divorce, and grandpa wanted mommy to divorce me all the days of his life.".

(my dad left the lie when i was 5, and i left a year ago... and subsequently am almost through with the divorce and the ex is a bitter, ignorant, crazy tempered jw).

so its all our fault, and i am going to die, makes sense.. last night i called up the ex and told him that he was nothing short of a mental pedophile, that you don't tell your daughter her mother is as good as dead, and he needs to knock it off and he is in violation of our anti-disparagement agreement that the courts have insisted on due to the religious and personal strife between us.

That is just disgusting. How do you say something like that to your child? Then you profess to belong to the one and only religion that is approved by God? Sick and twisted. I'm so sorry you have to put up with this. It really is a good idea to document everything that your kids say about what is being said to them as well as their reactions and how your husband responds and treats you. Very astute of your daughter to see through the fear tactic. Keep teaching them critical thinking skills. I'm sure there are age appropriate stories you can read together and discuss that help children really think. I also believe that your unconditional love for them will shine through. I know this might be hard to do but NEVER bad mouth their father to them or say derogatory things. They will soon see for themselves what is going on.

I did! I threw them into the recycling bin - not the trash.

No stockpiles for me Outlaw! Maybe that was a sign of things to come.

Hello SD7! I wish you all the best. I can relate to what you are going through. It's a tough situation to muddle through. You have your own timeline and your own circumstances that no one else can possibly know. You do what is best for you at this time. You cannot push yourself to do anything that doesn't feel right for you. You'll know when you are ready to make bigger changes and you'll also know if you don't want to. It's your life!

Did you personally shun anybody? Experiences?

i'll never forget being at a restaurant and seeing a df'ed witness, a previous friend, leaving the restaurant.. i watched him through the window, looked him in the eye and raised my hand, a bit, to say "hi".

i felt guilty doing it but at the same time it seemed like the only right thing to do..

No. I refused to treat people like a disease. I always said hello, smiled and I carried on many conversations with DF'd ones. I never really got the point about how totally ignoring someone is loving. I guess I never got it cuz it's not loving at all!
