...yes I can remember now, this man came to the conclusion that buddhism must be the true religion after reading "our" book!!!lol

was there an official or unofficial reason that anyone knows of?.
it seems to me that pretty much every publication was studied at the book study, but we never did that one..

We never studied this book in France and I can understand why. A sister told me that after reading this book her ex-husband told her he had found the truth. I think it was an East Asian religion!!!!(can't remember which one it was).

hello....my name is 'joliette' ...i'm a 2nd generation african american jw's (well, actually 3rd generation) my great aunts are all jehovah's witnesses.
my late grandmother was not.
i'm from milwaukee, wi.
Welcome Joliette!
hey folks, does anyone know which wt article talks about how babies will be killed as in the ones that were killed at sodom and gomorrah and the flood?.
i'm drawing a blank completely what article it was in.. thanks in advance everyone!.
Isn't there an illustration in one of the publications of the rising flood waters, a rock sticking up out of the water, ark in the background safely floating away... on the rock were people trying to climb to safety...and for some reason I remember a woman clutching a baby as the waters rise...
@ Undercover :
It's the old bible story book. It's a very shocking illustration for children. I remember my little girl asking if the baby is gonna die. I don't know what I answered. But children are so innocent/logical. When you have children, you start seeing many things differently.

my wife and i took a trip yesterday to deliver her camera to her mom so she may take it with her as she goes to kentucky where the need is greattm.
her mom is currently still in virginia staying with some brothers there while she gets schooled in giving talks (at least i think that is what she is doing).
i met the co's wife at the petersburg kh and after we dropped the camera off, my wife and i went to have dinner before returning home.. i ask about circuit overseers and their role because i was intrigued to learn that the kh we went to had an apartment for the co.. apparently, co's have no job of their own outside the watchtower activities and while my wife insisted that they did not 'take a vow of poverty' like the catholic clergy do, they technically do.
The wife of our last CO really prayed not to be sent in a territory they had been years before. And try to guess where they sent them...
She really wanted to cry but accepted it as Jehova's decision in order to mold her.
Poor thing...

so what do you guys think the next major lie will be?
or should i say wt light getting brighter teaching?
they had to change 1874 to 1914 since it didn't have anything to be backed by but 1914 they at least based it on 537bc minus this plus that blah blah blah we got 1914 (hide the pyramid measurments) :) if 1914 comes and goes they will have to do something major!
It's interesting this thread was written one year ago ie before the new generation teachings. We had our last DC and it was funny to see how the brother was struggling, trying to explain the new generation (with the now very famous Br. Franz and new anoited brother being in one overlapping generation).
I then asked my husbands if he thinks that they will give up 1914. We had an interesting discussion in the car and I could give him a good apostate witness. He his determined not to do too much in this cult also he said he is waiting on Jesus and Jehova...

something wrong desi and i can't reply to your post.
so i came with a new one.... i know how you feel.
i was in the same situation, but 15 years ago.
Hi JustHuman14,
Thanks for sharing your story. It's hard indeed to see how WT destructs families. Last year my disfellowshipped sister-in-law got married a nice worldly fiancé. Her only sister didn’t go (hard core JW) and wanted to prevent her mother and us from going. Hubby and I went and his very zealous sister told us that we fear men (non JW family members). Our answer: “you’re like the Pharisees”.
A good friend of mine sister and her (elder) husband cancelled their visit to our place (planned months before) just because we went to that wedding. An elder in our KH told us, if we go, we should not talk around in the KH: just go don’t say anything. That’s what we did. So no one in our KH knew/knows we went to this wedding.
This sister-in-law that got married was attending all meeting since at least 2 years and lived in abstinence. For us it was normal to go, for her sister not. One month or so later she was reinstated.
The 2 friends of mine since don’t talk to us (more than one year now!): it’s not that tragic as they live far away from us. But I just wanted to confirm, that it was the first time I saw how conditional love and friendship are in the BORG.
I’m really sorry for the situation you’re in and hope it will improve from month to month. I don’t know which problems I’m going to face, but I’m prepared in my head and I already feel free in my mind. I’m not a slave of their teachings anymore and that’s a great feeling.

we have been out of the organization since 1-1-2004 - at least that is the way we mark it to remember.
we began to read ray's books in late fall/early winter of 2003 - a thousand pages later and a few weeks - viola - we were out to never return.. i was contemplating just how significantly i have personally changed in that period of time - not the stages, though there have been many stages.
but the raw contrast of my opinions, moral stance, and view of the world is amazing.
Thanks for sharing Ak-Jeff. It's really refreshing/encouraging for us newbies!
