has anyone looked into Buddhism?
by poor places ini've started reading a book called the modern buddhist's bible and i'm liking a lot of things about the religion so far.
of course i don't know much yet, but there seem to be some very good points to buddhism.
one thing i love is the emphasis on "killing" the ego (or whatever you might want to call what buddhists try to do with their egos!).

Leolaia, yup, they should be compatible, what you can do is take a few of your lenses with you to the store and they should allow you to mount it to the demo one or they can confirm by looking.

I've just picked up a book on an anthology of Buddhism to get me started. So far I like the philosophy, it goes along with a lot of the psychology books I read. What I do like is that you can pick and choose for the most part what to follow. Like it was said before, it's not really a religion, but a philosophy of life.
Another thing I like about it is its not something you get crammed down your throat and fear mongering like western religions.

Leolaia, check out the Nikon dSLR's. I think it's the D5000 that has the LCD that can move around. Might be what you're looking for. They are 12 mega pixel too.

Witness Dfed, employer fires employee
by isaacaustin inok, what happens in the case of a person being dfed who works for another witness, if the witness fires him/her for being df?
lets assume the df person wants to get back in.
many times a person who is dfed still believes in the org...and feels guilty so would not file an unemployment claim.

Back when I got DF'd I was working for a JW employer. After DF, a week later I was 'let go' because they couldn't allow their conscience to talk to me at work and act like everything was okay.
Stupid Cult members. Of course, it was a third job at the time so I didn't mind the nights off.

Thanks MMXIV! My Nikon D700 is an FX sensor, so there is no magnification, 85mm is 85mm etc.
Guess I need to put that on the birthday list!

Hello JWN...excited to be a new member!
by braveheart ini stumbled on to this forum about a month ago...and i'm hooked!!
a tremendous amount of knowledge, wisdom, great debate, and lol humor, which is good for the soul.. i am not a jw, but the borg infected my family years ago, many are still trapped, and i have 2 big shot elders.. i became a huge opposer/apostate and had many a battle.
today we have learned to live in peace...live and let live.. recently, i decided to get up to date with everything jw... i often wonder why my family can't see or figure out the real truth.

Welcome Braveheart! The book list that Mad Sweeney put up is definitely a good place to start.

MMXIV - got your pm, sent you a reply.
I asked MMXIV this in a pm but I thought I'll throw it out there with everyone too.
I'm looking for a new lens for portraits. Preferrably a prime lens, like 85mm or 105mm, any recommendations? Your experiences with a particular lens etc would be great!

CuriousButterfly, just keep practicing! I took a class that taught me how to shoot in Manual mode, that is all I shoot in for the most part now. Other than when you need to be quick. I used to shoot in A mode before manual, loved that too and I learned a lot in that mode. See about taking a class if you can, definitely worth it!
SBCheezits, the noise is almost non-existant on the Nikon D700. I've cranked that baby up to 6400 to test and it was very crisp without much grain.
HintOfLime, my first dSLR was the D40x. Great first camera and fun to shoot. It is sitting in the closet now. It makes a great backup if I need to go somewhere that will be raining or near water.

The Ever Hilarious Awake Magazine!
by metatron inthousands of years ago, greek philosophers advised, "know thyself".
if the watchtower society had existed back then, they would now hold the record for the most un-self aware and oblivious to their faults - religion ever!.
it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

now metatron, what are you doing reading that demonic propaganda by those cult people?!
