Ok, rings a bell now, the title threw me off, Kent Sate, thought it was a name of an actual person. My bad!

I haven't heard of this massacre. Must have been before my time, what happened?

Letter from elders
by Cynisister inthe local elders have been trying to visit me (my hubby still attends meetings and he has told them i don't wish to speak with them), they left a copy of a watchtower (on helping inactive ones to return) in my door when i was not at thome, and this last sunday asked my husband if it's ok to write me a letter saying this is what they have to do.
they can't freely stop by as we have large dogs that would keep them out.. does anyone know if this is going to result in my being df'd??
i don't want that to happen yet as my husband's parents who are quite elderly, would be devastated.

whatever you do, do not give them details or share with them your thoughts or current views. Let them write their letter, just don't respond. You owe them nothing.

I've seen tattoos and piercings on active sisters. Can't remember a brother that did either though. No beards.

I just got an email from a JW friend about his death. Looks like it's going around on the internet. Of course I wonder where the info was leaked first!

7 members left. 4 are needed for a 2/3 vote. GB 2.0 is in control now. No old gaurd, no reference point. The grip of the WTS will do its tightening at a faster pace. Suffocating more and more of it's members.
I wonder how many R&F actually are aware that Barr has died? I know a couple months after Jaracz died many still didn't know. Think about it, 3 GB members (I include Ray into that number just by association) died this year. One a tyrant, one a follower and one a revealer of truth.
With all of the changes going on with the 'corporate downsizing' across the globe by the WTS, makes you wonder what major changes will be coming in the next 2-3 years. The face of the Society will once again change. It's a like a Hollywood actor having done too much plastic surgery, the original face is completely gone.
Truly we are living in the last days! .... Of the WTS (hopeful thinking.)

When was the last 7-Day Convention held?
by VM44 indoes anyone know when the watchtower held the last 7-day convention?.
these conventions lasted from 9am to 9pm every day for a whole week, except perhaps for sunday.. they were mostly held in open-air stadiums and people had to endure the burning heat during the day, and the cold at night.. it took endurance to sit throughout the whole thing.. making people attend those things really was an expression of love from the watchtower!
did the watchtower drop right away to the 3-day program, or were 5 day conventions held for awhile?.

I'm approaching mid-thirties and I cannot remember a 7 day Convention and I'm a born-in. I remember 4 1/2 day conventions though, Started Wednesday afternoon through Sunday. Well, I think it was 4 1/2 days... I can remember one time at least... then it dropped to 3 1/2 then 3 as it is now. I can see them dropping it to just Sat/Sun. I know attendance on Fridays has been horrible for years.

What proportion of Jehovah's Witnesses will make a convert in their lifetime?
by stapler99 inin another thread it was being discussed how inefficient the door-to-door preaching is, and i thought this raised an interesting question - what proportion of jehovah's witnesses will make a convert in their lifetime?.
in my experience, i can think of two or three people that my parents have studied with and who were later baptized.
but i know of so few baptisms that it is hard for me to think about it.

Does anyone know what 'status' you fall into on the official records as far as a baptized publisher that is just 'inactive', no removal of privileges, just not reporting time for 6 months or more? Do they not qualify as being counted as a pub? Just wondering if they are still counted then that skews the numbers even more.

Oh yeah, those were just numbers. I agree with all of your statements about born-ins. That makes the numbers even worse!
