my best friend does not know about my recent mental defection from the watchtower, but i am having trouble keeping my feelings from him completely....so, last night, i asked my him if he thought the governing body was always in 100% agreement about every policy/doctrine decision they make.
" i asked him how he thought they went about making those decisions and he said that, "they probably discuss it as a group, research it, read the bible together, and discuss it some more until they come to a conclusion...just like a boe would when deciding a judicial matter.
" i said: "don't you think that if they were jehovah's 'mouth-piece' and they are indeed being guided by jesus christ and holy spirit, that there would be no doubt about what the right course of action is?
After some more exchange, he just said that he "think(s) it's Jehovah's Organization, and even if they change their mind about things, we need to follow them."
Yup, I've had recent discussions with a few friends still 'in' and it all comes to this thought-stopping ingrained and mind-controlled statement. Even if they have doubts, they believe that it's all part of "Jehovah's organization" and there is no argument.

i've been thinking about this for a while now.
it seems to me that the wtbts is taking steps towards phasing out public editions of the watchtower.. here are a couple of points of evidence to see there is a real possibilty for a move in this direction:.
1. the monthly "start bible studies on the initial call service day" is evidence of a more direct drive to recruit new members.

I can see this as the first step to consolidate even more. Then maybe another 5 years later they will either do quarterly editions with special tract work.
They are losing money at a steady pace and they will need to continue to sell off property in New York and around the globe to stay afloat. It's pretty evident that they are hurting financially.

everytime i have ever told an active jw about this forum and described it's designation they all, in essence, say the same thing.. they say that we are nitpickers, that we are all just rubbed the wrong way and can't get out of the state of disgruntlement that we have allowed ourselves to enter.
some throw in supernatural elements some just stick to human imperfection and call it murmurings.. these kind of assertions highly imply that our anger is exaggerated or misguided; that we don't have all facts and are drawing highly speculative conclusions.. as participants on this forum how do you refute such a claim?.
my first thought would be to point out that "murmurings" is what created the watchtower to start with.
Do we have a reason to be disgruntled?

i can't believe the amount of new posters this board is getting.
it seems as if every day there are at least 2 to 3.. if you are a new poster, what made you decide to stop lurking and start posting?
how many of us are there that have joined in the last year?.
I lurked for about 3-4 months before signing up. As mentioned before, there were so many similar expressions of experiences that resonated with me, I had to join in and at least vent/express my story and add to what was being posted.
What made me take the leap and join and start posting was things that were and still are, technically speaking, going on. The hypocrisy is just incredible within the WTS.
we've all seen jw apologists come on here (or very confused jws'/jw wannabes) bellyaching about how misleading the name of this forum is.
it suddenly occurred to me - shouldn't that actually be a red flag for them?
the very organization that claims to be "his witnesses" and that it is the only religion out there sanctifying the name of jehovah (ergo, they are the "truth") - uses the watchtower as their homepage name.

By their actions they will be known!

Dude, I just read the first page, I always enjoyed yout posts, even when they went off on some tangent olr something I didn't agree on fully. We all need friends, don't be so hard on yourself, maybe thicken up that skin a little more, but regardless, I'm here for ya! We all need a listening ear and leaving the WTS is a mental, emotional, spiritual and sometimes physical strain.

let me start by saying that the congregation i was in split into two congregations long ago.
let's just say i was in "north" and i know everyone from "south" but i have actually never ever set foot in "south's" kingdom hall.. so my cell phone rings and displays a local call, but not a name.
