Sounds like this "bethelite" was trying to give out subliminal messages. Too bad few picked up on this... or maybe more did?

Funny statement about DVD replacing Proclaimers book on DC
by Gorbatchov inlast weekend i attended the dc.
i had special interest in the closing speech about "this generation".. the bethel speaker told us he lost track after the publication of the watchtower in 2008 about "this generation" and concluded that "this generation" can overlap only 1 time.
he stated that there is an absolute time limitation of "this generation".

Got My Nose Pierced Yesterday
by Coffee House Girl inwell since i cant grow a beard, dont have the patience for dread-locks, and do not want anything permanent like a tatoo yet..... i enjoyed the experience, never been in a tatoo parlor, this looks understated, not painful & everyone hates my new nose "glitter" which i find kinda funny.
i don't see it being a permanent thing with me, but i always wanted one, and you never know if you don't try..... just one more step in the independent direction of making my own choices-.
btw i also registered to vote last week!.

Captives of a Concept
by dgp ini'm reading "captives of a concept", by don cameron.
cameron holds that the one thing that keeps jehovah's witnesses prisoners in the watchtower is the idea that they are in "god's organization", and, therefore, the right thing to do, in spite of what one sees, is to stay within it.
cameron also says that those jehovah's witnesses who become convinced that the watchtower is not god's organization eventually leave.

Room215, that's interesting what you said about what Barbara Anderson was sent to do. I need to look for that, would you happen to have a link by chance? Thanks.

My mom opened up for the first time.
by NomadSoul ini could write paragraph after paragraph to explain the situation, my leaving, my influence on my mom and siblings, etc.. but i will keep it short.. my mom is inactive and she has always liked having conversations with me about almost any topic.
for a long time though she would not touch the subject of the watchtower organization when i brought it up, i could tell she still believed that talking bad about the organization was a sin.. but last weekend we were having our usual conversation that we have now and then.
the topic of religion and god was brought up.

What did Jesus mean when he said that nobody comes to the Father except through me?
That question right there is one that destroys the WTS. What they teach about the GB (F&DS) being the org's mediator for the R&F to god is apostacy. There isn't one scripture that supports their claim on mediatorship in place of Christ.
So happy for you that you're mom is seeing the real light on the matter, however small it may be, it is progress.

JWoods, I read your reply to dgp's other post. I find that is true. It boggles my mind that the GB who says that Jesus has come in 1914 and is ruling as king now but belittles his rulership by going past him to their god Jehovah.
If I was king and these pesky minions were doing that, I would order them to be drawn and quartered.

Ideas on how to break the news to my old best friend that I do not believe anymore
by life is to short inok i hope i do not regret posting this but here it goes.. i was at bethel and met this sister, i worked with her and we became best friends.
i never had a true family as my parents were abusive and i never fit in with any of the sisters when i pioneered all the sister hated me and let me know it very clearly.
i never had any friends in the truth before her so i was amazed that she found any good in me.

I think that if you go and stay with this friend you're going to come back a wreck. It will do nothing but bring you down, by the sound of it, it already is. Just tell your friend straight up, look I have made plans with my husband and we are wanting to spend it together, we don't mind seeing you for a day or so, but we really need "alone time" to strengthen our marriage etc.
By pandering to her wishes you are setting yourself up for disaster.
Just my lousy .02 cents.
Whatever you decide, we're here to hear you out and support you.

The GB is the WBTS version of the pope. With the new generation hooplah, they are basically setting themselves up to follow the Catholic model of passing the torch on to the next "generation" of GB.
I want to read this book baaad. I was hoping my bookstore had it here, but no looks like I have to order it.

When talking to JW's about Witnesses ................
by cantleave indo you still refer to them as "us" or "them"?.
to me they are definitely "them"..

Soldier77
Jim_TX, I find that as well in talking to JWs (them). They don't read anything outside of their own literature and only view the news as "the end is close" material. They don't keep up with political events, environmental effects of this or that, they don't look outside the box and are very narrow minded. In fact, their literature stunts their mental growth, it's like they're stuck in the 5th grade and that's an insult to 5th graders...

Overlapping Generations
by elder-schmelder ini think that this explains it best !!.
one of the critical and most debatable assumptions we have maintained thus far in our arguments is the assumption of successive generations.
in other words, we have assumed that, every period, a new generation arises and the old one dies off.

I think JWfacts has it on his site. I downloaded it to my computer for future printouts.

I am going through some "personal issues and that I need time to think about them"
Gutted, that's what I am thinking to use too. In fact I try to rehearse it in my head to get it right without mucking it up. hah.
