I think you're missing the point cameo. We aren't debating whether having pets or not is civil or not. We are discussing the fact that the WTS is dictating to it's members THEIR view of how the R&F should view their pets.

I'm really liking this book a lot more and more. CoC was great for opening my eyes to the WTS. This book is opening my eyes on a much different level. I can't really compare them as they serve two different purposes for me.
I found a site with the Nag Hammadi Library (Gnostic Books) and read the Apocryphon of James. I'm pretty pumped up to learn more on the Key of Knowledge.
I highly suggest reading this book if you are from a JW background or any Christian background. The fact that the author is an ex-JW, then mainstream Christian then a Buddhist is very interesting to me since I started looking into Buddhism as well.
I think the one thing I've read so far that has really made me think was the tree's of knowledge and life. Why didn't Adam and Eve eat from the Tree of Life first?! Then the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Bad. Ahhh... too bad there was no internet back then for them to Google. lol

I honestly can't stop reading. Every chapter so far has been a WTF? moment as I go into it. I'm looking up the scriptures he quoted and doing side research into gnosticism as I go. I'm still letting it sink in and digest the information and thoughts of the writer. I'm almost as blown away as I was when first reading CoC.
Any of your thoughts on this book if you have read it would be welcome. Thank you all.

now that all the members of the original governing body have completed their earthly course, a question popped into my mind.. i know that there was no governing body prior to 1971. before that, how was jehovah supposed to communicate with the anointed?
and, how come he decided to have a governing body, so that the new light would come to more men, instead of just the president of the watchtower?
why was a governing body not there since 1914, for example?.

I think the internet social networking 'rule' is dependant on the congregation elders. I've heard 3 versions of it:
1) No FB, MySpace etc. Delete your accounts.
2) Elders are on FB as well as pioneers etc.
3) FB is okay but don't have worldly or DF'd 'friends' or I will 'unfriend' you.

They say they do not have a clergy class. Oh really? What type of hierarchy is having titles and positions within the org i.e. Publishers, Pioneers, Ministerial Servants, Elders, Circuit Overseers, District Overseers, Zone Overseers, Branch Overseers, GOVERNING BODY? Those look like CLASSES to me!

the active link from a russian site posted here a few days ago (and since removed) for 2010_ks10-e.pdf no longer shows up on google.
yesterday, i checked and putting the file title in google brought up several torrent hits and the russian active link.
this morning, some of the torrents show but not the russian link.
