hi folks:.

i've been lurking here all summer and i finally decided to take the plunge and join you all.. i'm a single, 53 y/o black woman living in the nyc metro area (usa).

i was brought up around jws:mom's mom, mom and my favorite auntie were all in.

i've been lurking here off and on for a few years, figured i would introduce myself and share the clif notes version of my story.. i'm in my late 30's and was born in.

mom was a jw, dad wasn't.

got baptized in my teens and started dating my eventual wife.

i'm a 17 year old from scotland.

can i just say this site is absolutely brilliant.

finally found people with open minds and free thought that doesn't just consist of "well the wt told me this so it must be right".. my story is that i'm just like any other child of a jw...brought up into a life of indoctrination where "the world's" thinking is automatically wrong.. that is until i was 14 - a light turned on in my head.

For those who have been out for 5 years or more.......

........... do you find you are now far more relaxed about things ?

things in general, and things wt/jw related ?.

i find i am much more relaxed and pragmatic about life in general, mrs phizzy and i do what we can, but we don't get overly upset at what we cannot do.

Oh yes!

Our family has been free now for seven years! YAY!! We have peace and happiness and feel much more relaxed. We have, of course, had different emotions over the years, but we are even more kind in our thoughts and forgiving of the people still "in" than we were at first. Life is so much better now, the only thing that would have made it even better would have been if we could have left sooner, but you can't change the past, you can only go forward with your life!

I do have to say though, that becoming a little more relaxed could also be due to getting a little older..
