Actually, that's like Taco Bell having a policy that reports of cashiers touching children should first be reported to Taco Bell Legal Department and then have the matter addressed by a group of Taco Bell janitors only. Obviously, Taco Bell abides by the law and management calls the police. There would be no reason for Taco Bell to have any legal problems as long as they notify police and take swift action to protect children. Watchtower on the other hand, insists that their Legal Department be phoned first and believe that their uneducated magazine salesmen are qualified to handle such serious crimes. WT deserves to be sued to oblivion for their failure to protect children.

in light of the candice conti civil trial against the wtbs and the pro-jehovah's witness/apologist comments posted on various news websites, i thought i would give a simplified explanaition of what is involved in appealing the outcome of a trial in the courts of the united states.. a trial, whether criminal or civil, usually ends with a verdict rendered by a jury.

in a criminal case the verdict is guilty or not guilty.

that same jury may decide the punishment in the event of a guilty verdict.. in a civil case a jury must decide based on the evidence whether the defendant is guilty of damaging the plaintiff.
