CO position going away
by OwnAccord inso i heard this on another site just throwing it out there because there's been talk about it here.
i'm sorry i can't answer any questions i'm just relaying the information.. the branch is considering replacing all circuit overseers with 3 brothers per circuit to oversee needs.
24 congregations per circuit with 1 brother each assigned to 8 congregations each on a yearly rotation.

How is that when CO's are supposed to be single handenly responsible for appointments and deletion? Why would they give them that responisbility, just to axe them later? Unless that was handed over to the local rotation brother?

JW.ORG Business Cards?
by toweragent indid anybody else get an announcement at their meeting about the branch approved jw.org business cards?.
apparantly, they're real slick and fit into your wallet (making it easier to informal witness).
the logic was, some people don't want to be handed a big tract and would prefer something smaller.. so strange considering how little there is to those tracts!

for those still "in" what's the mood
by lastchance inin my area the general sense is bleak.
many are in survival mode.
even at the convention the appearance of the majority was unhappy and tired.

Watchtower Tells Us "Employers Seek JWs Only" Yet Most JW Employers Avoid Hiring JWs, Why?
by BucketShopBill inhere's a thought: we're told over and over how employers sing the praises of their jw employees, sometimes with a vague quote about how 'if we could only hire jws, we would as they are so honest'.
however, while some jw employers themselves may hire jw employees (usually cheap entry level positions), most don't.
in fact, many jw's in general who have businesses have a rule not to do work with jws, even those in their congregation.

I know of a lot of bad experiences. Friendships destroyed and trust broken. But I also know of some situations where it worked out really well.
I myself started working for a JW 2 years ago, and I couldn't be happier. He treats me really well and pays me well so I don't take advantage of that. I rarely call in sick, don't ask for excessive time off, and get my work done! It pays off to work hard because as time goes on, he trusts me with more and more of the business and also bumps my pay from time to time. So thats ONE good experience! (Although it makes it harder to leave the .ORG)
I recall there recently being an article discussing how JW employees should NOT expect speacial treatment from their JW boss. (Extra vacation, extra sick leave, more pay, etc.) That's one article I can get behind and support!

Athiests: Do you ever wonder... what if?
by toweragent ini'll start by saying, i'm a ministerial servant who is trapped in the religion.
my wife is hardcore...but i've slowly been getting her to lighten up, so i'll take it!
all my friends and family are jw's, and i am employed by a jw (who is actually a great boss).

Thank you everybody for your replies and insight. You've given me a lot to think about!
Just out of curiousity, could anyone narrow down some sources to read about the Bible's "real" history? (The four sources, editing, lies, growing legends, myths, etc.) I've done some searching, but there are so many choices! I'm just curious if anybody would recomend something that was particularily useful to them?
Thanks!

I'll start by saying, I'm a ministerial servant who is trapped in the religion. My wife is hardcore...but I've slowly been getting her to lighten up, so I'll take it! All my friends and family are JW's, and I am employed by a JW (who is actually a GREAT boss). I literally don't know ANYONE outside of the religion.
I'm at such a crossroads... I don't know if God exists or not. Am I atheist, agnostic, or a believer? I don't know.
God is not the author of confusion...but like Dan Barker says, 'Can you think of a single book that has brought about more confusion than the bible?'
And that's true! I can teach and PROVE, from the Bible, that the JW doctrine is true. I can also take that SAME book and PROVE that it is wrong. I can use the Bible to both PROVE and DISPROVE the trinity. etc...
But then I hear comments like: "Ignore the bible, only listen to the words of Jesus." And I think that is awesome. There's not too much of what Jesus said that makes me uncomfortable. He remained silent on some of the biggest issued being pushed by religion: gay rights, abortion, etc.
So, I'm confused and that's where I'm at right now. But here's the main point of my post:
For those of you who are now athiest: Do you ever look back and wonder "what if"? What if the god of the bible is real? What if there is a creator who is not the god of the bible?
I would like to free myself from religion...but it leaves such an empty void for me. You mean to tell me that my time with my super amazing and awesome wife (albiet hardcore) is limited? No paradise earth? No heaven? No afterlife? Did you have to get over this fact or was it pretty easy for you?
Thank you for your insight!
NOTE: Just to be clear, I'm not asking what I should do...I know that's different for everybody. I'm just curious to see if the things I worry about during MY transition are normal or not.
Also, please, I am at a crossroads and I'm not commited 100% to theism or athiesm. Please do not derail the topic and tell me why I should or shouldn't beleive. PM me if you would like. But I really don't want to see the topic fall into a flame war.
Thank you everybody!

So strange considering how little there is to those tracts! But we were told soon that the literature department would be getting some in.
Thoughts?
Is this them grasping at straws or is this a good PR move?
What do you think?

CO Special Meeting with MS & Elders
by Syme inwhen the co visits a cognregation this semester, a special meeting with elders and mss is sceduled tuesday night, right after the normal meeting.
does anyone know what this meeting is about?
this special meeting is held at the beginning of the co-week, and is different from the standard meeting with personnel which is held friday evening.

Our CO came last month. This meeting was just to tell the servants and the elders to support the field circus meetings throughout the Special week. Even if they can't go out in the field, just attending the service meeting would be appreciated.
That being said, I don't know if the subject of that meeting is directed by the branch or if it's something that the CO does himself based on the "needs" of the congregation.
