Have a nice debate, folks.
Hey, OTWO. We're all wrapped up. Now it's just a love-fest for flexible-minded Christians and non-theists. Have a ridiculous cartoon beer on me.
this is continued from another thread in which psacramento and i were having a friendly discussion.... .
this was the original question he posed:.
ps: and what proof would be enough for you?

i'm sure i'm the very last person to notice the day shift / night shift groups of posters but i kinda think it's funny when i pop in on an evening and discover posters i've never seen, but who have 10,000 posts.. that's all.
carry on.
situation "normal".. edit: hi, night crew, i'm on the day crew, btw..
Quiet, Sab, you span all timezones!

the path of the righteous ones is like the.

WB: they're always tryin' to cover up their mistakes - that's just like tryin' to cover a three hundred pound woman's ass with the petal of a lily
jehovah's witnesses love to claim that they are a true religion because they are the most loving people on earth.
they rant and rave about how they apply john 13:35 to themselves.. in a recent conversation with djeggnog, i was shocked at some of the hateful things that he was saying to me.
now i know that i have been in some pretty heated debates with others, but i try to never make it personal.
Sure many Muslims have love. As far as the Koran goes, I haven't seen that it is how one is to identify a Muslim like it is in Christianity.
I wonder if I could use love to gain entry to Six Flags on Christians-Get-In-Free Day.
Attendant: Uh, excuse me sir, I need to see your ID and season pass please.
Christian: Oh, yeah, I'm with the Christian group who just came in. See my love? [hugs attendant]
Attendant: Ah! I'm sorry, sir, I see it now. Enjoy your visit to Six Flags!
Muslim: [walks up]
Attendant: ID and season pass please.
Muslim: I bring love. [hugs attendant]
Attendant: Sir, I'm gonna need you to STAND DOWN! ID AND SEASON PASS.
Muslim: But I thought love was good nough ID to come inside.
Attendant: YOU HEARD WRONG, MOHAMMED! [tazes Muslim]
i've been called a "fundi" many times in my discussions with people on the board, and i'd like to know what your definition is of a "fundi".
don't google it.
i just want to hear your personal definition.. i find it interesting because i don't go to any church.
I will eventually start another thread about Biblical prophecy.
Excellent, because I only skimmed that thread after I realized no Christians were stepping foward to try to refute Leo's 24 inch long post. Research freak, that one. (Meant that as a jealous compliment.)

there are scriptures of prophecy that can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to have been written before the event
I'd love to investigate that possibility and if you can provide proof (reasonably) on this forum, I'll investigate with an open mind. The desire to believe is there, I'm just not familiar with any evidence to support it.
That said, I can't say I'm not slightly put off by the fact you once bailed on one of your prophecy threads after Leo dropped a mountain of evidence against it. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/201747/4/Biblical-Prophecies-written-BEFORE-fulfillment
No offense, dude, and I'm not trying to dredge crap up. I'm just admitting that I may have a bias there because of it. Providing a worthy rebuttal would help.

Then why am I a fundamentalist?
Dan, I don't recall ever saying you were a fundi.

Thomas Paine makes an interesting point in "Age of Reason". Paine wrote that a revelation can only be considered valid for the original recipient. When it is then communicated by the recipient to a second person, it becomes hearsay, a secondhand accounting, and consequently the second person is not obliged to believe it.
Dan, Ol' T-Paine makes a pretty strong argument, doesn't he? If I recall correctly, he also applied the above the "hearsay" principle to the scriptures themselves.

SBC: But the most basic logic tells me that a superhuman, omni-everything god should be capable of conveying his message clearly, transcending time and language barriers without room for contrasting metaphorical interpretations.
Psac: Perhaps but we are dealing with humans here, right?
Yes, which any omniscient creator of man would have realized and taken into consideration if he decided to share the secret to a successful, happy life.
If this being can establish the physical laws of the universe and create life, then finding a way to communicate with stupid humans so as to prevent any misunderstandings should be a piece of cake.
But as I said on another thread a few minutes ago, none of this really makes much difference. It all comes down to an underlying fact: you have faith and I do not. We are speaking different languages. :-D The good part is that we can accept each other's difference of opinion and move on. That, to me, is lacking in Fundamentalist thinking.
