I was an idiot too.....but not totally my fault. Third generation Dub born and bred, so it's not like I chose to be in a cult.........And here's a kitty cat picture just to smooth things over:

If I ran the WTS ...
by Simon in... and wanted to disrupt sites like this one and activities of 'apostates' in general, what would i do?.
would i send apologists who were obviously on the side of the wts to spew out the typical wts message, ones that would be quickly labelled and disagreed with?
maybe ... it would get people riled up.

if the critizism is unfounded, you can dismiss it.
Sometimes, if criticism is unfounded, it's not so easy to just 'dismiss' as though it's water off a ducks' back. If the accusation/criticism seems petty it can hurt and anger the person being criticised and rightfully so. Especially when it's on an open forum.

Just because some are more public than others doesn't make them better or more special.
It can and it does in many cases. What Barbara has done over the years has had a huge impact on many Witnesses. When the story of the pedophile problem first broke, her son flew to Crooklyn to see what the thugs there had to say. Naturally they tried to minimize everything and they told him point blank that by her actions, his mother had stumbled thousands of Witnesses who left 'the Truth' and naturally she was going to be bird fodder at Armageddon.
How many of us have made such an impact that it has gotten thousands of people out of this damn religion? Over the years on here, I've received several PMs from other posters thanking me for something I've posted, or for the project I did a few years ago that I made available free of charge to anyone who wanted a copy. Even so, there is simply no comparison for what I did, to the impact someone like Barbara has had. Does that make her "better" or "more special" than me or the majority of other ex-Witnesses? In my opinion, yes, it certainly does. Some people like Barbara, or Jim Penton or Raymond Franz make a huge difference simply because they are more public than others. To try and demean and belittle them at every opportune moment is petty and pathetic.

AndersonsInfo
by minimus ini am sick and tired of people putting down posters like the andersons!
they work hard to expose some things we might never have known about.
why some find fault with them, or ray franz before them, or maximus when he was here is beyond me.. be thankful for those that decide to come here and share what they know about this organization.. we get elders who are still in their positions and they share with us a lot of interesting news and perspectives.

mary, you probably should have read it, because noone was jumping on her. minimus just made it up and almost everyone followed.
I read the thread that Barbara did and some of the snarky comments directed at her on there surprised me..........even though I guess it shouldn't.

I didn't read all the pages on this---only the opening post. I find it disturbing that some like to immediately jump on Barbara for the slightest faux pas----imagined or otherwise.
How many of us on here have had the impact that Barbara has on exposing some pretty horrific stuff that goes on in the Organization? My own opinion is that she has done a wonderful service and has contributed endless hours of her time providing information that might otherwise never be known and for myself, I feel a deep indebtness to her and Joe for what they've done. No, I don't worship her, but I have great respect for her and I truly do not see why others feel the need to continually bash her every time she makes a post.

Ray Franz Comments on the Memorial as Celebrated by Jehovah's Witnesses...
by LUKEWARM inthought this will be of interest at this time of year..... .
dear daniel,.
i appreciated your latest letter.

Excellent summary. As Ray pointed out, there is absolutely nothing in the scriptures that indicate that partaking of the bread and wine is limited to 'annointed' ones. This was the brainchild of Rutherfraud when he decided that most Christians were not in the 'new covenant' and were viewed as second class citizens and therefore, unworthy to participate in a Christian ritual that was open to all Christians for the last 2,000 years.
I remember Unclebruce telling me a few years ago that there's some religious groups that worship Satan who pass around the bread and wine and purposely do not partake of it (as a slap in the face to Jesus). While the motives might be different, I think it's pretty bad that Jehovah's Witnesses "celebration of the Lord's Evening Meal" has more in common with devil worshipers, than Christianity.

A longtime neighbor and former member of Mr. Oliveira's church said Mr. Oliveira had been a lifelong Jehovah's Witness before turning to Islam two years ago
Jesus Christ almighty.....talk about going from the frying pan into the fire. I just don't understand why these frigging psychos who want to die don't just put a bullet in their own head. Why the hell do you have to take a bunch of innocent kids with you??!
Those poor kids...........

My GF Told Me She Got Invited To Go To Dinner By A Very Nicely Dressed Man
by minimus inget this: she called me up to tell me a well dressed man came to her house and actually invited her for dinner, a "meal" at the local kingdom hall on the memorial evening.. he gave her the invitation to enjoy the meal with him and quite a few other people on the night the "meal" was being served.. i explained to her that the dinner only consisted of wine and unleavened bread and that she could only watch the bread and wine being passed but if she got a hold of the plate or the cup she had to just give it the next person.. she asked, "you mean there's no dinner like he said?
" i answered there was not.
and she said, "then forget it then!"..
