Oh egghead. Do you actually read (or even think) before you post? All the entire quotation confirms is that JW's will do anything to be "different" from 'worldly people'. If you're sitting down and the anthem plays, you can't stand up. But if you're already standing, you don't have to sit down but you're not allowed to sing the anthem. The very fact that you were dumb enough to say that Jehovah's Witnesses do not refuse to stand for the National Anthem is a bold-faced lie since I provided quotes that shows that Witnesses are not supposed to stand for this. Plus, do you think we're stupid? How many of us on this board had to face the humiliation every morning in school, when we had to stand outside the classroom while the singing of the anthem went on? The very fact that you are trying to claim that this isn't the case is just one more nail in your coffin. Not that you'd be smart enough to recognize it, but carry on.

You also claim to have heard most often when you were a child that Jehovah's Witnesses 'let their children die rather than take a blood transfusion'? I don't believe you. You may have heard as a child what the position of Jehovah's Witnesses was with respect to blood transfusions, but I don't believe as a child you could have understood it very well or that as a child you could have explained our position to anyone.

I already explained how and why I knew what the blood doctrine entailed as the subject came up time and time again when my sister needed surgery. It's not too difficult to comprehend when you hear the elders talking to your parents about it and when you hear them say how they 'must remain faithful to Jehovah's Organization' if and when the subject of blood came up during one of my sisters' many surgeries and how even if she died, it would only be a few years before my parents saw her again because The End was coming in 1975.

So please don't try and tell me what I could and I could not understand as a child you moron, because you haven't a frigging clue what you're talking about.

The fathers did the abuse but the mothers closed their eyes and if not condoned certainly turned a blind eye to the possibility of it happening. And far too often the mother blames the child or even worse knew and did nothing.

Lee, IMO these women turn a blind eye to the abuse for one reason: They are needy, stupid women who can't seem to live without a man in their lives and they are willing to sacrifice children's lives and safety, as long as the loser-pig walks comes home at night. That's truly the only reason I can think of. Unfortunately, your mother seems to really know how to pick them.

My grandmother's step father tried molesting her when she was about 10 years old. Fortunately she was very fiesty and she kicked him in the balls so he didn't try it again. When she went to tell her mother what he tried, her mother beat her for "telling lies". Dumb, stupid woman who just couldn't live without a man in her life and she was willing to sacrifice her own daughter just to make her own life more comfortable.

An excellent letter Barb. For those that view the letter as a waste of time, or pen and paper, I would like to say that I doubt very much that Barbara thinks that they're suddenly going to reverse their view of all of us as being "mentally diseased" for leaving the Borg. But since it hit close to home, she probably found it very therapeutic.

I called the Writing Department after my brother in law died and asked them point-blank how they can sleep at night knowing their policy on blood transfusions is killing people. I did not phone them thinking that they'd suddenly do an about-face, but because it was therapeutic.

I actually would have loved to have seen the look on whoever opened the envelope and started reading. LOL!

You said the blood issue was non-scriptural. Jehovah's Witnesses may be mistaken, but they believe that it is.

Ya....so tell me something I don't already know. It makes absolutely no difference if Jehovah's Witnesses believe whole-heartedly that the blood issue is scriptural. Just believing something doesn't mean it's true. 500 years ago, the official doctrine of the Catholic Church was that the earth was the center of the universe. They used scriptures to try and support this doctrine and to go against it without recanting would cost you your life. We now of course, have proof that the earth is not the center of the universe, so it made no difference if people believed this doctrine 100%----it still wasn't true.

So I don't give a rat's ass if Witnesses are totally convinced that the blood doctrine is right, because we've shown it both on JWN and on other websites, that it is not scriptural.

It's hard to imagine where you dream this crap up, but I doubt you actually believe what you wrote above. Even as a child I knew that 'worldly' people knew us for 3 things: Refusing to stand for the national anthem, knocking on people's doors Saturday mornings with their never-ending "the sky is falling" nonsense, and the one I heard most often: "You let your children die rather than take a blood transfusion." I was all too familiar with this as this doctrine was a big issue with my sister when she was young, it nearly cost my father his life twice and it was instrumental in my brother in law losing his life. This bizarre doctrine---that has absolutely no basis in scripture---has killed god knows how many Witnesses over the last 50 years and is probably the thing for which Jehovah's Witnesses are known first and foremost, and not in a good way. It's viewed with such horror that in Canada at least, when a Witness baby needs a blood transfusion, the court steps in if the parents refuse to try and save their child, and will do all they can to save that baby's life. And thanks to the media, whether the radio, newspaper or the internet, most people are more than aware of Jehovah's Witnesses and the issue of blood.

And please don't start your bullshit again about how the bible says you can't eat blood. You have been ground to death on the subject, most memorable on this thread started by jgnat on the subject, but, like most die-hards who belong to a cult, you simply stuck your head in the sand, refusing to admit you didn't have a leg to stand on.

Terrible conduct by congregation Elders in hospital room !

They tell my cousin to please leave the room. His girlfriend says to the Elders,"Why should he leave the room? That's his grandfather." They tell her that this is a ''spiritual matter'' and that he has to leave the room. My cousin walks out and proceeds to tell me what just happened.

I remember when my brother died, the asshole PO phoned my parents the night we buried him to say that my other brother (who had never been baptised, but DA'd) "shouldn't be talking to anyone at the funeral". Tell your disfellowshipped cousin that a letter to the local newspaper where those elders live might be a good idea. Let's see those turd-coloured dogs try going out in Serve-Us after that.
