"DON'T BE AFRAID TO DIE FOR THE TRUTH"
by Mary inmy jw sister was over tonight for supper and after a couple of glasses of vino she told me that "today's watchtower study was bullshit" and that one of the 'elite elders' made a comment that bothered her a great deal.. he was apparently at bethel not too long ago and "one of the big-wigs" who was giving a talk said "don't be afraid of dying for the truth brothers" and this jackass was stupid enough to repeat this at the meeting.
it bothered my sister a great deal and i said to her: "soooo are they going to start passing out the kood-aid or what?
" she knew exactly what i was talking about and she said "ya, i wondered the same thing.

LongHairGal said: Mary: It always disturbed me to hear talk along those lines and I always wondered if the person spouting this garbage about dying for the religion applied this to themselves as well. Or, are they just expecting the other suckers to do it?
In theory it of course applies to the GB (after all, aren't they supposed to be 'Christs brethren'? Aren't they supposed to be martyrs for their faith? I often wonder how well Rutherfraud would have held up in a Nazi concentration camp---you know, the kind that the R&F Witness was subjected to.
They're losing control and it infuriates them. Not-so-subtle suggestions like this one is paving the road for who-knows-what kind of mentality down the road. They've already forced thousands of Witnesses to commit suicide with their ban on blood transfusions, but I have an uneasy feeling that they may have something even bigger (and worse) down the line.
10 years ago when I first joined this site I remember someone asking whether or not we thought the Organization could ever pull a Jim Jones. Even though I thought they were a bit nuts, I emphatically stated that I couldn't ever see them pulling a stunt like that. Now I'm not so sure. They've become more fanatical, more obstinate and far more pious over the last decade and I don't put too much past them anymore.

I know Scully.......we talked about the blood doctrine tonight too and she said that she thinks "they're wrong" on it, but that it's still "the Truth".
I try not to push it with her because she's never recovered from my b-i-L dying and I'm afraid that finding out this isn't "the Truth" could finish her off.
What a totally f**ked up cult.

Kinda makes you wonder what's coming down the pipeline from these morons eh? Anyone else here anything like this?

does matthew 7:13,14
by therevealer inprove anything close to what jw's teach.
and that is that there is only one true religion.

Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; 14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it" Is this a typical example of how the jw's put words in the mouth of scripture, so to speak?
Yep, it is. Because they take the ONE "narrow road"mentioned as meaning there is only ONE right religion, yet they take the ONE broad road as meaning THOUSANDS of wrong religions. You can't have it both ways. Either the "narrow road" can include others or the "broad road" can only mean ONE wrong religion.
Of course, the WTS applies a double standard on this just like they do with the book of Revelation. Their weird idea that the 144,000 is a literal number, but the "12,000 out of each tribe" and "the tribes" themselves are symbolic, is a perfect example of how they'll twist anything to suit their own agenda. Then again, John was probably suffering from a combination of physical persecutions by the Romans before he was flung on Patmos, exhaustion, a religious zeal and some magic mushrooms when he wrote this stuff down.

Gutless WTS Leadership From the "Confidentiality" Letter
by LostGeneration inthe letter leaked today on "confidentiality" had an infurating set of paragraphs on suicides, attempted suicides, and threatened suicides.
here is the excerpt.. suicides and attempted or threatened suicides.
20. at times, judicial committees may deal with someone who is so distraught that he attempts.
-
Mary
21. In addition, elders should immediately call the Legal Department for legal direction whenever they learn of an actual suicide, a threatened suicide, or an attempted suicide, since legally this is also defined as self-murder or felo-de-se.
Um, why exactly would elders "immediately call the Legal Department for legal direction" when a Judicial Committee results in someone committing suicide or threatening to commit suicide? Shouldn't they "immediately" be calling 911? Oh I forgot---we have to make sure that God's Holy Organization is in no way implicated or to blame for one of their followers committing suicide, even if their policy on extreme shunning drove them to it.
Whether a family member or close friend with knowledge of the suicide threat or suicide attempt reports it to authorities is a personal decision for him to make. (Gal. 6:5) Elders should not discourage anyone from reporting the matter. Family members who are aware of the suicide threat or attempt should be encouraged to take positive steps to prevent the person from harming himself.
'Positive steps'? Like what?! Calling 911, or getting them to seek professional counselling? Call the Suicide Hotline? No way......that would involve a professional from 'Satan's world' finding out that one of the happiest people on earth is about to lose their entire world courtesy of the JW shunning method and wants to end their life because of it. And that might not look good for the Organization.
To sum up: Calling the Legal Department is obligatory, not an option. Yet getting that person professional help is a option, not obligatory. Ya, and they wonder why so many are leaving the ranks. I guess this shouldn't come as any surprise, given the morons who are running the show.

Do People Hate You Too For Being Too Beautiful?
by minimus insamantha brick has this problem.
i understand her pain..

Mary
I saw this woman on CNN and I thought 'Um, is this an April Fool's joke?' She's not exactly ugly, but she's no screaming hell either. Her assertion that good looking people are 'hated' for their looks is absurd. I'm generally considered to be fairly attractive and I don't know any female who hates me because of that. Do I get treated better than my coworkers? Not to my knowledge. I got an excellent performance review this year but I'm pretty sure it's because I worked my ass off, not because anyone was drooling over me.
The reason Samantha Brick has lost so many friends is not because she's "too beautiful" (she's not) but because she's a egotistical narcassist and who the hell wants to be around someone like that? Looks are a fleeting thing, and if that's all you've got to rely on in life then you are to be most pitied.
