Scholar, ya little dumb shithead! I see you're still eating, sleeping and dreaming about 607 BCE---the woman of your dreams, after all these years. And after all these years, your posts are still all BS. Hope you've saved something for your retirement beyond trying to be a puppet for Crooklyn. LOL.

With all the wealth of watctower surely there must be something can be done for these people?
And indeed their solution is to kick them to the curb before they get any older and let them fend for themselves. I also wondered how the hell they can be 'laying off' middle-aged Bethelites and pointing them out the back door while at the same time begging for new younger recruits through the front door. It's not like you get a great paycheque or anything.
The only thing I can think of is that Crooklyn needs people with skills now. That means they need computer programmers, constructional engineers, electricians, mechanics, technicians, doctors, nurses and all the lawyers they can get. The 56 year old Bethelite who was first mentioned in this thread, was 19 when he entered Bethel and that would have been in 1976. Virtually no Witnesses would have had any marketable skills when they entered those doors in '76 and they never developed any. Fast-forward 37 years and you've got a scene right out of an Austin Powers movie where they're still living life like it was 30+ years ago without realizing the world has changed. You could call it: The Cult That Shagged Me.
I sincerely doubt they're given any kind of a settlement when they're handed the dreaded pink slip, or if it they are, it's absolutely minimal. When Ray Franz was given the boot, I think they gave him $10,000 and he had been a member of the Governing Body. I can't see them giving a damn about a lower ranking Bethelite......

Prayers that God answers. Any examples?
by punkofnice inwhen i believed in god i tried not to pray for anything selfish.. after a while i began to think that a lot of things i was asking my imaginary friend in the sky for were selfish for some reason.. i do not ever remember a single thing i prayed for ever being answered.
if there was the appearance of an answer it was because i did mental gymnastics to make it fit the delusion that god had actually answered me.
there was never an obvious message/answer from god.

He had no idea life on the outside was this hard.
That is, unfortunately, the reality of being a middle-aged Bethelite these days. They were told when they were young to join Bethel and they'd be taken care of for life. (There was actually something like this written in the literature several years ago that I came across one day---I'll see if I can find it again).
I also saw a show on tv a few years ago where it showed what life was like in Bethel. One woman who was working in the laundry was asked by the reporter how she felt doing the laundry for everyone else. She made the comment that 'they wouldn't have time to do it themselves and still attend to all the spiritual needs' or something equally as dumb. Because that is exactly what those who live outside the holy of holies is expected to do. The R&F are supposed to work, cook, clean, do laundry, buy groceries, attend to the children, study, attend meetings, field serve-us, etc. etc. Bethelites have most of this done for them and it's all free. No wonder it's such a shock to them when they have to live in the real world made up of rent, groceries, clothing, bills, work, etc. because they haven't a clue what the real world is actually like.

Mary: Your links are a big FAIL - there is no evidence there at all, just unsubstantiated claims.
Simon, I never thought I'd say this but some of your statements are becoming very irrational. Which surprises me as I've always thought you to be a level-headed person. I sent you 2 links that showed her husband is a wife/spouse beater. He's admitted it. And now you're saying that it's a "big FAIL"? Seriously?
Whatever. I've grown tired of this discussion. In reality it makes no difference what you or I or anyone else thinks about the whole situation because Zimmerman was found 'not guilty' by a panel of his peers. Whether we agree with it or not, it is what it is and we can't change it.
Time to move on.

And you thought the witlesses are bad?
by WTWizard inyes, they are bad.
dreams lost because of pious-sneering, opportunities lost because of the rules, vacations lost, missing holidays, and the dread of field circus are bad.. however, i have found information about a few even worse cults that are gaining traction.
now, these are not the "the world is going to end and you need to commit suicide to be saved" rubbish.

Children as young as 2 are bound and forced to sit at attention.
Why do I foresee that in a few years time, members of this whacky cult are going to have numerous child-abuse charges laid against them?

her low-life husband "Gray himself admitted in a deposition to abusing "all five of his babies' mamas except one," and to hitting Alexander
Simon asked: I did not come across those details in any of the articles I found - do you have a link?

Mary
What abuse are you talking about exactly? I guess the abuse she claims as the excuse for her attempting murder?
Simon, for heavens sakes, her low-life husband "Gray himself admitted in a deposition to abusing "all five of his babies' mamas except one," and to hitting Alexander." There's no question as to whether or not he abused her. He's admitted that he did.

Her abused mental state should have been factored in sentencing though which it clearly was not.
Exactly. It begs the question as to why her POS husband wasn't in jail for abuse but that's another issue entirely.
