  Happy Df'ing Anniversary to me!!!!!

  i can't belive it's been a whole year!!!!.

  last year on oct 3rd, i was at home with my parents eating dinner.

  we of course were not at the meeting .

  If your happy, I'm happy,
  But I'm angry you couldn't just leave for conscience sake without being cut off from your friends. I'm still inside and worried about getting caught. Not for my sake but for my aged parents, my children, the inlaws.

  You said they are "evil". Right on. Dr. Scott Peck in "People of the Lie" described evil people basically as anyone who is willing to harm someone else to get what they want. He gave many examples of evil religious nuts harming their own children because it was God's will.

  Go and celibrate, and say hi to the folks.

  I’m only tried to imagine what you were talking about and yet what you are feeling is much more. That came across clearly. I have thoughts I would share with you on the matter but I suspect there are many much more capable than I lurking who can say it right. Meanwhile rest assured You are heard and cared for.

  in my youth i was a member of the bayshore congregation, long island, new york.

  many years ago as a teenager, i was out in service with br.clarence and sr.bea beatty (not certain of spelling), on a sunny day on l.i.

  I was there. I rode my bike to Babylon to the state park on the coast and stayed overnite with several friends. Not sure if I was ever out there to give a talk. This was about 1969. I would come out there often to get away from the big city.

  We may have crossed paths. Judging from your pic you were young in 1968. I spent time in FarRockaway, Rockaway Beach, and Long Island City Congregations in the 60's and 70's.

  I agree, Russel will probably not read this. But I wish he would. I knew and respected Russell, and his brother John (inventor of the vertical phonograph player). I only knew then both as a Bethelite, but could tell they were not normal "players". Especially John. Why would he come back to Bethel to work every day from living independantly outside after the nonsense he endured at Bethel?

  By the way, I was in the FarRockaway Congregation in the late 60's. Somehow Bayshore congregation sounds familiar! Are you old enough to remember the 60's Islandwoman?

  DOES WTS own Kingdom Halls?- Challenge

  recently, the bonham, texas issue was discussed and comments were made that when the jws lost the hall in 1986 that the society then took deed ownership of kingdom halls to prevent another case like bonham from happening.. i challenged this as not being universally true, because long after the bonham case, i kept congregation files and we never made any deed transfers to the society, nor change our non-profit association charter to make the society a beneficiary in trust.. what i did yesterday: i am frequently involved with courts, judges, and legal matters, property titles, etc.

  i checked on a kingdom hall at random near my office.

  i ran a deed search and the title came up as being owned by the local congregation of jehovah's witnesses, and no mention was made of the watch tower society or any subsidiary corporations.. further, the kingdom hall in my analysis was purchased not long ago, but long after the bonham case.

  Hello,
  Going along with Amazing I was surprised to see so much conviction that the WT owned KHs. Having for years and in several different congregations had to go through the process of updating the trustee's for the ownership of local property on which the KH was located I was wondering what I had overlooked that made the society the actual owners. From everything I have seen and done, they are owned locally by the congregation whether by trustees or incorporation with corporate officers. But it is possible I overlooked an ultimate default clause that it reverted to the society in the worst case scenario.

  I was involved in a congregation that was dissolved after we left. But the proceeds of the sale of the KH did not go to the WT society directly but to nearby KHs where the stranded "publisher" ended up.

  Personally I feel if we are looking for a scandal, we need to look somewhere other that KH ownership. I do not believe anyone in the organization is looking for property gain from Kingdom Halls. These are sincere people running things, victims themselves of their own teachings. You will fail if you are trying to prove they are in this for personal gain.

  I don't want to make a life altering decision that will be a big mistake if it is the "truth". I don't want God to look down on me at armageddon and be angry with me for not serving Him the way He wanted me to.

  We witnesses have spent lives motivated by guilt and fear but if you are a reader you know these motives were absent in early Christianity. Love, faith and freedom were common subjects and motives. We need to talk. Please e-mail me. [email protected]

  When I first started posting here I felt the organization was at best one of the stewards over “God’s household” in Luke 12:45-48, but not the “faithful” one. BTW, that seems to be the original discussion of the “faithful” slave issue that Jesus was only throwing back to in Matt 24. But I told my self good or bad slave it is still God’s household. I’m sorry if this offends you, but I no longer believe the WT society is anything special. I am confident by your comments you are a good person, and you are right to ask, why can’t that be enough. IT IS GOOD ENOUGH! That’s what true Christianity is about: Faith, Hope and Love.

  The organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which I am still a part of, goes beyond the scriptures with their New “good news” they want all to preach, they regulate almost every aspect of behavior of their associates, often to their harm (mandates regulating use of blood, discouraging college, disfellowshipping., secrecy regarding harmful pedophiles in the congregation, to mention a few) and they have good, innocent people like you never feeling good about yourself while hiding the Bible message that you can be Right with God right now with just one requirement (Rom 5:1).

  To answer your question, Yes, I will eventually leave. As stated in the first post of this thread I’m only hanging on to reach others with the truth about the truth. As for you Vita, I hope you have read or will read Ray Franz’s second book “In Search of Christian Freedom”. And any other of my brothers at the Kingdom Hall, if you want the truth without sarcasm and from a fellow Christian who has had more privileges and experience in the organization than anyone you have known, go to this site and order Ray’s books.

  How long were you a JW?.....how long were you an Elder??

  
  Baptized 37 years ago, started as a bookstudy conductor 36 years ago, was an elder since the arrangement was re-instituted in 72. I was suppressing doubts as a Bethelite in the 60’s and 70’s. Vita, it is a powerful system, using fear as you mentioned, guilt, hate, love and even greedy lust for material gain in the paradise earth soon to be all theirs.

  Yes, I believe there are many who “stay in because of that fear” of loosing their family. You also said it is “kind of like being in prison”. You are free, Vita, but that is freedom to make choices. You can withdraw gradually and cautiously so you do not loose your family. But you have probably considered that and still feel in prison. If it is any help, many of the scriptures that the society takes out of context could be of encouragement to you. Countless times in the last three days with my visiting friends I reminded myself and quoted for them Heb. 13:6 ““Jehovah is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Hope you are still trusting your ‘helper’.

  likely try to bury any salient points deep so that they don't have to face the realization that they have been living and supporting a lie.

  It was interesting how much they agreed on several issues, but kept coming back to how they were “worried” about me and they “want the old (my name) back”. I kept telling them this is the same me. I’m just speaking up now.
