For me If people turn to Atheism after witnesses (or any religion) this speaks more of a an inate lack of belief in God rather than issues with Religion. How could any person destroy our belief God? For me you either believe or you don't.

Get the elders to leave me alone!!
by bottleofwater inmy dad read something online that i posted and told the other elders (he's the boe coord.).
they've read me articles about homosexuality and tried to coerce me to stay with the family instead of living with my uncle for a week.

Is this the same guy that another thread is going to pioneer while in college because apparently his dad is forcing him too?
I do not normally comment on personal threads but I've noticed a lot appear on this site that seem a bit manufactured?

by Lily Pie inhi, i'm a bit of a lurker on this site occasionally, just to help me understand my jw relative.
i am so curious to ask this question, but i fear asking a practicing jw, because you know, they can be a tad evasive, and maybe defensive too.

Hi Mrs Jones
I never said anything about preaching being a Gift. It isn't a gift! The gifts we get help us do the preaching work (which is the command laid on us) and help support the flock as well.
Witnesses have never claimed that we gain Salvation through preaching work or any gift! Salvation comes through Jesus's sacrifice and Jehovah's underserved kindness on us. Preaching work is about saving the lifes of those who are responsive to God's word. Ask any witness we don't preach to be saved but too save.

Hi elderelite
I simply don't agree they were't just nice guys that pat your back but men with responsibility in the congregations they looked after.
1 Timothy 5:17 (New International Version)
17 The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.

Hi Mrs jones
Don't put words in my mouth I feel about preaching the way Paul did and it is about loving others beyond yourself. A sacrifice of time and selfish pursuits to do God's will and bring his message to those in need. Seeking out the honest-hearted ones.
1 Corinthians 9:16
Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!Romans 10:14-15 (New International Version)
14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" [a]

Hi fernando
But the Bible isn't a list I tick off and make sure I cover them all. A mantra I say out loud. It is a real living message to me as a Christian and worshiper of Jehovah our one true God alone through his son Jesus. I don't do Christianity by numbers but by my heart, my life and every part of my understanding.
Your list sounds like you think the reward is by works? Do you make sure you cover the 5 "solas" so you can claim righteousness?
IMO The witnesses are the only Christians that do confess Jesus as Jehovah's son in this time. All others have Jesus down as Almighty God and not as the one through whom we reach Jehovah his Father Almighty God and recognising that Jehovah himself raised his son from the dead.
And that whole list of what you reject? you may as well just throw out Jesus and the apostles and all they set in place for our protection. no elders? how can you quote titus and even say "no elders" seriously? no congregations? A Christianity that rejects all that I read in the bible is something that holds no appeal to me. however sincere you are.
Rejecting authority established through God's son is foolishness.

hi miseryloves
I have consistently said faith inspires works and not the other way round! The underserved kindness we get off Jehovah is not by our works. It's understanding that having faith means you simply have no choice but to do works, it is your faith that pushes you to do them. If I breathe in then I breathe out, that is similar to how Faith and works are linked.
If You truly have Faith that Jehovah is our our Almighty and One true God and that the message we have been given to preach by his son saves lifes then why would preaching be a chore?

Hi brotherdan
I have not minded your replies. You have made your decision regarding witnesses which saddens me. I hope at least you have enjoyed the scriptures that these discussions have brought out which is my favourite part.
Hi elderelle
Why would I do that? why would I mix our God assigned preaching work through his son with our obligation to care for others? they are different aspects of our Christianity not to be mixed and they do not cancel each other out either.

Hi Mrs jones
I agree. I'm just saying his faith was accompanied by works which is the given with faith. Can you have works without faith? yes, but can you have Faith without works? No.
In encouraging our faith and the works we do by Faith we are simply strengthening ourselves.
