Do You Look Down on "Religious" People Now That You're No Longer a JW?

i try to respect everyne's opinions on religion but i find myself thinking, "what's wrong with these people?

NOT really, for many i actually feel pity for them-- as i listen to them struggle to find "any old answer" to lifes difficult questions

instead of i don't don't have the foggiest idea.----------- belief systems attempt to provide some comforting answer to folks and depending on which group can come up with the best answer ----folks will follow that group

case in point -a sitution came up at work where a number of folks were killed in an accident except a small child and everyone was proclaiming

"GOD WAS LOOKING OUT FOR THAT CHILD"

problem is by that line of reasoning, the folks who died--- got cut short-

of course then this is where belief systems must come up with another explanation as to why god was not looking out for them and of course they varying based on the belief system

for some it was "WELL IT WAS THIER TIME"

"OTHERS said-- well they are in Heaven,

(Now how they knew these folks all made it to heaven i have no idea- suppose some went to Hell- )smile-

now of course one needs a belief system to define what Hell is and the list goes on and on

so i don;t look down upon them for they all share the same common thread:

"We got the hook up to god over here and you all don't- in fact if you don't beleive as i do my god is going to kill you, burn you, bring you back after death as a "mule" instead of a race horse"

to me anyone who think that god has whispered into their ear and now they must tell others what he said, for me i wonder why couldn't god just do it himself and save the time and confusion we see as a result of the need for all the INTERPETATION that is required to figure out what he actually said- smile

It doesn't matter who stayed home. What matters is the people who actually showed up and were not allowed to excercise their right to vote.

see you missed my point, i never said it was ok.

the point i was making is that due to those who stayed home and the numbers are in the 10s of 1000's -- their numbers failed to make up for those who were not allowed to vote-

are you saying that if every black person who was old enough to vote went out and voted that day it would not have matter????

and that is the point, when they voice was needed THEY FAILED TO SHOW UP!!!!!!!!!!1

the tactics of making it hard for BLACK folks to vote is NOT NEW MY FRIEND- read your history, so once again we are back to TELLING THE STORY, WHITEY MADE IT HARD FOR ME TO VOTE so i ain't going

what do you think struggle mean- ========="Power is not given up by anyone- black or white, it must be taken"

and in the case of this country that method is thru the vote -- black folks don't understand that --they can't blame whitey

IF we devoted as much time to such life issues as we do to other issues we would not be in the condition we are in today

does that mean we would be on the same level with the white community, probably not, BUT WE WOULD BE FUTHER ALONG than we are now

i look at the blacks from africa and the islands -- they come here and in 5 yrs they got their own biz and homes-

we cannot continue to tell the story and then wait to see what happens to us

yes tell the story--like the jews who say "NEVER AGAIN"---------- and then move forward

Teejay talked earlier about ownership, blacks still lag behind just about every other group except indians in terms of econonomic prosperity

i have seen the data and it is truly sad, and in my opinion, No alot of excuses can be made- when my grandad said they were poor and broke they were- today that is not the case

even folks who are below the poverty line you will see the cable, the cell phones, the designer clothes or you have blacks who have a few coins like another one of may neighbors

he is self employed making a few coins,and spending every dime- he has a S500 for the wife, he drives a BMW 325i HIGH PREFORMANCE EDITIONS- He has a Navigator sitting on "22's" with spinners ( for my white friends that is 22 in tires/rims) smile--i know i am bad- smile

as well a a customize PT crusiser and this summer he picked up a Ninja motorcyle- the funny part he complains about how it is so expensive to own and drive

now his wife looks good with her "WEAVE" as she heads out in the AM driving that s500, but all these things DEPREICATE-

so sad

NWT Scholars

the book, reasoning from the scriptures does not inform the reader on who are the nwt scholars nor their education background.

could someone provide some information concerning the nwt scholars?

Raymond Franz was a Governing Body member and certainly was in a position to know who the translators were.

Are you so stupid as to think that no one aside from the translation committee members themselves knew who the members were? I think not -- you're just moronically stubborn.

I WAS THinking the same thing,, for this poster to believe that ray who was part of the most exclusive group in wt not to know who had perhaps one of the juciest assignements at bethel is really reaching

being that the GB handed down assigments all the time, to think that they all sat around the table and no one knew who was working on the bible project only shows how little the avg rank and file jw knows about the org-

as mentioned lots of folks knew who worked on this or that project

for example JR Brown for years worked on Questions from Reader- i knew cause being a black man we were proud to know that a "BROTHA" WAS moving up the wt ladder- smile

of course they are - using his education - problem is he got his degree BEFORE BECOMING A JW- LIKE MOST degreed jw - they attain them prior or right at the graduation time

it is like he grew up a jw kid and family and friends encouraged him to pursue his passion in this field-

i have rarely met jw who grew up and went to college and were held in high esteem- only in the last few years has wt somewhat soften up and then again not really - more like double messages, you can go, but if you really loved god you would pioneer type messages

my friend from my jw's days ran up to me on the street the other day and to my suprise he is no longer with the jw's.

it has been about 16 years since i last saw him.

he was a "devout" jw's and we used to "pioneer" together.

YEP I most certainly do- when a person has a belief systems that advocates:

"WE got the hook up with god over here and you all don't-- in fact if you don't believe as i do- my god is going to kill you, burn you , destroy you, etc etc etc"

while many will argue that their belief system is different, the above statement is a common thread shared by most of the worlds belief systems in some FORM OR FORMATT

same product different package in my opinion :)

If the number of Black voters in the state that were disenfranchised were allowed to vote Gore would have won Florida handily.

Bush won by 500+ votes, ------ do you know how many black folks were actully able to vote but didn't ??????

I just love when i hear the word "disenfranchised" - talk to an older black person like my granddad who used to get spat upon by white kids riding the bus while he was walking- yet he has never missed an election----

the problem with blacks today is eveyone wants to tell the story of how "whitey" did them wrong, nothing wrong with that cause most blacks can indeed tell the story including myself, but to keep BI**&ing and MOANING ABOUT whitey "Ain't" helping the cause -

when one looks at the data of black wealth it is embaraasing to see how much $$$$$ flows thru our hands and communities- we can find the Phat Farm, Tommy wear- Cognac, the Esclades, and every hip hop song around, yet when it comes to the more important things we fail to step up to the plate-

this is the question i pose to any black person when i have this conversation and i given this speech all over washington dc to different groups and org and schools-

- for the sake of arguement-- let;s say we can blame "whitey" for our problems, then that means "until" THE MAN decides he wants to change his ways and help us we up creek!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i don't believe that black folks have to wait till the man decides to help us and this is the reason why-

my granddad always told us kids there are 2 things in life,

1. things you can't control

2 things you can-

well black folks can't make a white person like them, all they can do is work to help remold thier thinking and mindset but in the end that is up to them

but there are things that black folks can control and it is THESE THINGS THAT we fail to do, it is a two prong approach

work to influence things one can't control and fully control things that one can.

I spoke to a group once and i told them as black folks WE WEAR AND DRIVE OUR -- "A$$"ets, while our white counter part and now even latinos DON'T-

these are things that we can control-

here in wash dc we have BET headquatered, when bob johnson started out he tried to program real drama shows, black folks didnt like that, so he switch over to BOOOTY SHAKING VIDEOS and black folks ate it up along with infomericals-

SO afterawhile he sold it and cashed out to the tune of 1 billion dollars- he was interviewed about that and how he went to churches all over wash dc and other cities , he tried to get well to do blacks and plain folks offering $1000 to be a partner -

told folks make it a family thing

get $250 from uncle joe, $250 from aunt sallie and $500 from cousin Pookey and combine it as a family and invest the $1000 into BET- folks laughed in his face

Tim Reid from WKRP in Cinn and his wife dropped in millions and it got off the ground and they cashed out to the tune of 10's of millions

if you live in wash dc one will see not ONE , NOT 2-- BUT 3 spanish channels with REAL SHOWS, NEWS= SPORTS, AND ENTERTAINMENT-

and now that black folks have been out numbered by spanish folks , blacks will continue to be even more marginalized - for a group that carries the democratic party one would expect to see black folks wielding tremdous power in the democratic party, YET THEY DO NOT

case in point, i live in one of the wealthest black areas in the USA Prince Georges county outside DC --Only Atlanta comes the closest t the amount of black wealth

we have in the state of md a white govornor- after leaviing wt i got involved in politics somewhat , i used my wt speaking skills to give me an edge-

Cathleen Townsend who is a member of the JFK family was runnning for gov , she was asked by the black political machinery to put a black on the ticket WE WERE TOLD___________- " IT AIN'T TIME YET"-------

the rep picked up on it and put a black dude named Steele on the ticket and they won- it was amazing how Steele influence the black vote here and the REp won over a lot of democrates-

my next door neighbor is the master politician, he ran as a rep for local office, even though he about rep as my big toe,, he was the only one running on the rep tick- on the demo tick 9 folks were trying for office from a black guy who has been there since what seems like the 60's he came out of the civil rights movement got elected and has been ever since-

after the primaries he was left standing to debate this long time politican, during the election he got blown out of the water,he only got like 1 or 2 %-

but as he told me JACE it all about NAME RECONITION- ABOUT 4 MONTHS LATER he got a call while in the yard, his wife yell THE GOVERNOR OFFICE IS ON THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he pick up the phone as was told = this is so and so CHIEF OF STAFF FOR THE GOV-

they offered him an appointed position - and today he has-- the black crown victory car, a staff of 7 and he is a DEPUTY UNDERSEC in one of the dept in the state of md - and the best part he is about as rep as my big toe

as he told me just recently jace it all about knowing how the GAME IS PLAYED

the house had a facelift in the 70's and is looking a bit shabby now.

the old lady who lives there won't let people have a look around the house (quite understandable).
