JW talking about each other---------

When i came to the Net 8yrs ago a poster made the comment, due to the boring lives of jw, meetings. study, field service-meetings. study, field service-meetings. study, field service-meetings. study, field service

they are literally left with only 2 things to talk about

1. a watchtower article

2 OR EACH OTHER

and i thought about it and sure enough that is true one can't talk about his NEW SPORTS CAR, new fur coat, new IPO company they are trying to invest in before it gets off the ground, etc- all conversations typically are expected to be related to some article

so instead of talking about some boring butterfly article they talk about each other

she went to work but didn't go to the meeting

her husband is working overtime now to pay for that new car, missing meeting

her daughter is wearing make up now,she is too young being only 18

etc

it is pretty simple, many times we like to make it into something hard to understand, but really it all boils down to what happens when a belief system kicks in and leaves it followers thinking that they got instructions from god

as i told someone the other day, we are merely seeing the march of human history, typically folks go to war due to wanting to maintain their real estate or wanting to expand their real estate-

but when you throw in a pinch of "God told us to do this" it gets very interesting-

quick lesson in history-

a few 1000's years ago, if you were a Hitite farming your land and minding your own business, all of a sudden you looked up on the horizen and what did you see, an approaching army- who when they got there declared YOU ARE LIVING ON OUR PROMISE LAND-

now you got this pc of land from your great grand dad, but here are some dudes shouting Jehovah has given us this land - yes it was the jews turn to cause havick on folks lives

fast forward a few 1000's yrs, my great great grand dad was chilling out in his Birth day suit in africa and when a group of dudes rolled up and announce "YOU ARE GETTING BAPTIZED OR DIE"

yep it was the christians turn to cause havick on folks lives

FAST FORWARD a few more 1000's yrs , like 9-11 --and we still got folks shouting out "To Allah we owe the victory"

yep folks you and i sad to say happen to be living in a time when it is the Muslium turn to cause havick on folks lives-

and in another 1000's there will be another group claiming that thier actions are Sanctioned by God himself

"Different Pile - same Sh%^ "

and that is the history lesson for today folks, be sure to read chapter 9 and we will have a quizz at the beginning of class next week

The Holocaust - do we need to know?

this week in uk, there starts a new 6 week series to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of auschwitz.

personally, i do not like cinema films about the holocaust and, therefore, have never watched things like shindler's list or the pianist.

yes we need it- case in point

we have this site here, we discuss our lives and how they were impacted from years of suffering under wt

anytime there are lesson in life to be learned folks should know

as they say NEVER AGAIN

and the same for us in our own little small way, we too have said NEVER AGAIN

how many NONJW AND EVEN JW HAVE TOLD US

why not forget it and move on with your life and don't talk about your exp in wt, just leave it alone

and we all know the value of telling others about what happened to us in wt and likewise we tell others

same with the jews, slaves in america and tons of other folks who got CUT SHORT- THEIR STORY NEEDS TO BE TOLD AND NEVER FORGOTEN

WILL THE WT APOLOGIZE- LIKE THE CATHOLIC DID???

last evening we went out with 2 other former jw couples a couple of guys and their wives i knew from the old days of bethel.

we were discussing the public apology that the catholic church just authorized to be made to the child abuse victims for their cases being mishandled as well as that $100 million dollar check they just cut.. .

and i will ask you all the same question .

WE were discussing the public apology that the catholic church just authorized to be made to the child abuse victims for their cases being mishandled as well as that $100 million dollar check they just cut.

And I will ask you all the same question

Do you think the wt will be humble enough to publicly apologize like the catholic church did for mishandling folks cases?

And we all agreed that that is no likely due to the concern that wt has about its image, both among its members and the concern about it image to those outside.

A few years back the World Wide Church of god, better known as Hurbert Armstrong group out of CA made a public apology for its behavior as well.

But based on the current policy of handling judical cases it would lead one to believe that the wt is very unlikely to admit publicly any error, if you take a look at point #6 below of the instructions to elders and these ARE STILL THE POLICY-

One can clearly see that admitting error is not going to be easy to get from the wt-

The problem that this poses is that when old cases are REOPENED the only records about the cases will show that the case was handled correctly, so even getting to the wt records reveal that the documents are false, how sad.

The Legal dept provided these instructions for the protection of the wt not the individuals involved, how sad.

What not to Put On Disfellowshipping
Forms

During the Kingdom Ministry Schools that were held during November and December of
1994, elders in the United States were given information that was to be written into their
"Pay Attention To Yourselves And To All The Flock" book.

This information concerned the
S77 and S79 forms that local judicial committees use to report disfellowshippings to the
branch office in Brooklyn.

The following was read to the elders, twice, for them to write
word for word into their books.

Six Expressions That Should Not Be Used on S77 and S79 Forms

1. Anything alluding to or naming one of the Society's attorneys

2. Any mention of the Legal Department

3. Any comments referring to direction from the Society

4. Any comments mentioning anyone other than the committee itself as a
possible influence in the decision reached

5. Any comments that might suggest to someone with a critical eye that the
committee did not reach its decision on its own but, instead, somehow
yielded to the influence of an outside party 6. Any comments indicating that the elders mishandled the case or committed
any error in the investigation or the judicial committee process.

Doctrines that make no predictions are less compelling than those which make correct
predictions; they are in turn more successful than doctrines that make false predictions.
But not always. One prominent American religion confidently predicted that the world
would end in 1914. Well, 1914 has come and gone, and -- while the events of that year
were certainly of some importance -- the world does not, at least so far as I can see,
seem to have ended.

There are at least three responses that an organized religion can make in the face of
such a failed and fundamental prophecy. They could have said, "Oh, did we say '1914'?
So sorry, we meant '2014'. A slight error in calculation. Hope you weren't inconvenienced
in any way." But they did not. They could have said, "Well, the world *would* have ended,
except we prayed very hard and interceded with God and He spared the Earth." Instead,
they did something much more ingenious. They announced that the world *had* in fact ended
in 1914, and if the rest of us hadn't noticed, that was our lookout.

It is astonishing in the face of such transparent evasions that this religion has any
adherents at all. But religions are tough. Either they make no contentions which are
subject to disproof or they quickly redesign doctrine after disproof. The fact that
religions can be so shamelessly dishonest, so contemptuous of the intelligence of their
adherents, and still flourish does not speak very well for the tough-mindedness of the
believers. But it does indicate, if a demonstration were needed, that near the core of
the religious experience is something remarkably resistant to rational inquiry.

remember how the witnesses used to always say that even if they didn't meet anyone home, just being seen by traffic on the street was a witness?

as if the people driving by are saying to themselves, "wow, look at those servants of the true god, bringing the waters of life to my door.

if only i weren't so bull-headed, i might listen to them and attain a good relationship with my creator.

because we worked out territory so often i would tell the group or service meeting part that -- THEY KNOW WE WERE THERE

you see on sat am we would pull up into an apt complex 400 apt and 800 cars and only 3 empty parking spots and we would take those- smile

then in 1:15min we would be finished with 398 NOT AT HOMES- SMILE since no one would answer, we would hear folks talking and years ago they would get quiet once we knocked hoping we would leave,

now they don't give a rats A$$ they keep talking and laughing while we are still knocking, we would hear TV on - SMELL BACON COOKING-

heck folks would walk up the steps coming over to visit, and while we are standing there, knock on the dooor and say OPEN UP IT'S LEROY

the householder would open the door -ACTUALLY SMILE AT US - even though we had been knocking for 5 min, let their guest in and CLOSE THE FREAKING DOOR

YOU GOT TO LOVE so all we could tell ourselv es is WELL THEY SAY US OUT THEIR WALKING THIER STREETS SO A WITNESS HAD BEEN GIVEN BRO, hold up your heads and let;s head for KRISPY KREME and get some coffee and doughnuts and spend the rest of the AM riding from one end of the county to catch that PHATHOM RV- who took a tract 3 yrs ago

Underlings have been thoroughly indoctrinated and trained to carry on with the same mindset and program. None of them dare suggest a change or two for fear of being turned upon by the others. That's basically the way the GB currently operates, and that's the way the organization will continue to operate, IMHO.

i agree, while some things may change if tj dies, but for the everyday jw on the ground don't expect to seee meetings dropping from 5 per week to 3-

Funny, If you go to a concert or play people want those front seats. They will pay more to sit in the front.

At the halls the opposite occurs. The majority tries to steer away from the front. It shows how much most "love" the meetings.
