  Question from a newly DF'd chick...

  hello again...now that i am officially a horrible, unrepentant sinner (in the eyes of a polyester slack wearing, mini van driving, anal retentive man whore), i have a question (actually several, but i will start with one!

  ) brace yourselves: it is about 1975!.

  where in the wt was the "prophecy" made?

  Noone but another ex-JW will really ever understand what you are going through so stay here at the board and post, vent, talk whatever you need to do. We will listen. No "worldly" person has had the years of indoctrination, brainwashing and "education" so they don't even have the slightest idea where to begin.

  i have talked with those who have been to professional help and i agree with you--- ONLY FORMER JW WILL FULLY UNDERSTAND --- and therefore

  if one can't find a professional jw to work with the next best thing is a professional who has dealt with persons who have been involved in -- HIGH CONTROL GROUPS-- or they at least try to educate themselves on that issues you as a patient are trying to deal with

  PERFECT CASE IN POINT on sat we will be having a dfed sister over for dinnera and we met with her 2weeeks ago for lunch - she has been seeing help for 5yrs now and she has never told the woman SHE USED TO BE A JW - and after we talked to her we told her that is why she keeps telling you and asking you IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE

  she was afraid to let her know Damn THINK ABOUT THAT SHE HAS BEEN DFED FOR 5YRS AND WT IS STILL KICKING HER BUTT

  so we have turned her on to THIS NET "THANG" and you will not believe the relief she now says she is finally starting to feel

  the net is a very important tool in help folks to get a CONFIRMATION that they are not alone or crazy

  one of the most painful things i continue to see here on this forum as well as all the others is that many who want to leave wt simply don't know how to leave and remain "intact" as it were.. i recall talking with jw who "formally disassociated themselves back in the 70s and it was not till the 90s and the net did they finally feel free.

  or many who jump up and write a letter off to mo larry and curly (congregation service committee).

  while i feel there is absolutely nothing wrong with writing a letter for many it is a matter of.

  ## you are welcome---- while many times we use this forum to debate jw dogma which is fine- there are also other issues that this type of forum allows us to address and I just felt that over the yrs I have seen this commom thread of former jw who adhere to wt rules of Writing a letter- well if you are going to write a letter then the least that the person needs to know is HOW AND WHEN

  The reason is simple: by turning in such a letter you are playing by their rules and are recognizing their authority. That still gives them power over you. If one merely states "I don't recognize your authority over me. You have NO authority over me any longer. I'm take BACK my own life, and the lot of you can go to hell," it would accomplish the same thing and perhaps even piss them off more than any letter.

  #####EE with you 110% the reason is simple – consider the entire process in order to join wt they required a LETTER AND IN ORDER TO LEAVE THEY REQUIRE a Letter

  I agree with you about not writing a letter. I still have my wife and four kids that are active in the non-truth, I do not want them to be mistreated because of me.
  I started my departure about 4 years ago and this year is the first year that I have not gone to the memorial.
  I think by just easing out you give yourself more of a chance to help others that might be inclined to leave also.

  ####you have very nicely addressed the various circumstances that each person faces and MUST DEAL WITH
  there fore there is no ONE ANSWER FITS ALL – but each one must look at what they will face and move forward from there

  and that is where this NET “THANG” comes in at- the role that the net will play in the next few yrs will simply be unreal

  when my mom started to study jw were unheard of and no one knew one personally

  ask yourself this question How many folks either work with or have a jw in the family- so they are at least somewhat famimlair with jw – no blood – waking you’re A$$ up on Sat AM - etc smile point being the novelty of jw are wearing thin in most areas

  in my old territory we could do apt territory lot full of cars on sat AM over 300 apt in the complex

  and we would return to the car in 45min- with 294 NOT AT HOMES smile

  so leaving the RIGHT WAY IS SO IMPORTANT TO ONES MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH and for the beleivers out there ones spiritual health as well- smile

  this is my personal view as well- for me it is a joke writing a letter
  esp since i know exactly why the entire concept of DA exist= smile

  as i mentioned it is the brainchild of the Legal Dept- has mnore to do with wt trying to keep peace with the gov than some bible principle

  as i stated they will simply have to come and get my black a$$

  if you ask or read any former jw post you will see the same common thread run thru all of our post

  WE KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG , but we never could get a CONFIRMATION

  and the moment you got your confirmation you knew that you had to leave

  then the question became how do i get out and that is where most fail and fail meseribly and that is where the net comes in
  it allows us to see that we were right THE KINGS HAS NO CLOTHES

  even though all around us was telling us he did

  have you ever heard of the society trying to shut people up by threats of lawsuits?

  also since i have no family in the org. and can live fine without the friendships ,what possible repercussions could i suffer for DAing myself

  I read your entire letter and all the points you covered are on the money- and if it gives you a sense of relief then great.

  If you have prepared yourself for the fallout – then you are ready, but my only point is :

  If you write such a letter with the intent of Telling the bro off or letting them know why then you are wasting your time.

  That is why some who do write a letter don’t spend time putting down all the flipflops and changes in dogma

  They meely say

  “just wanted to like you all know I don’t want to be known as a jw anymore

  have a nice day”

  short and sweet

  smile

  but each person must do what gives them peace of mind

  over a year ago i divorced my husband.

  he is the son of an elder, was addicted to pornography, and started doing drugs before i called it quits.
