Welcome back YKNOT!
by VampireDCLXV ini must be said that a whole bunch of us were wondering and worrying, thinking that evrything from bears to elders to cia agents got you, yknot.
we're glad you're back; even me, the dark one, who was a bit nasty at times and stung you.

How many went on to college after leaving the JW's?
by Cagefighter ini guess this is a question mostly for born-ins.
i wonder how many of you went to college after leaving or while you were in and what was your experience like?.

Born in. Went to university, undergrad and postgrad. Completely life changing. AND wound up getting completely addicted to university. Loved it so much I never left. Now a college professor. Wouldn't trade it for the Watchtower even on my heaviest grading day. ;-P

Are you suspicious of LURKERS?
by VampireDCLXV inwe all know they're here but we don't really know who they are.. they are people who sign up here and then never comment (or rarely ever do).. doesn't that make any of you regulars here at the very least a tiny bit suspicious?.
why would a person sign up to a forum like this and then never say a damn thing?
it seems to me that there is a primary reason why some folks sign up and then never comment on anything: to spy.

I "lurked" for years and years. Even before it was JWN, back when it was JWD. I only got an account to post (almost a year ago?). But I was a lurker for a really, really long time. I wasn't afraid per se...just lazy. I loved reading and didn't feel the need to reply. Even now, I can be away for quite a while just reading and enjoying the posts. Even if I ever got banned, I don't think it would bother me. I'd just go back to reading and not comment. Most of the pleasure comes from that for me.

Vamp: You wrote: "I still gotta laugh at folks who think that Canada is little more than Eskimos Inuit and igloos, snowmobiles and seal hunting, mounties and maple syrup, etc."
WHAT? There's more to Canada than those things?
You also wrote: "It's even funnier when visitors think they can drive from Toronto to Vancouver in under a day."
WHAT? You can't?! Well then I won't bother visiting.

I am out of here
by Aussie Oz inthis place has become far to jw ish for my liking.. free expression and rights to make reply are shut down by those who hold the key.. this forum is turning into an uber christian outreach program with those who take umbridge to them getting locked and deleted threads.
it would perhaps not be so bad if the moderators actually communicated to people such as myself rather than cold cutting.
they complain when we make a public outcry and tell us it belongs in a private message, yet cannot see 'the straw in their own eye' and do not use the private messages to communicate why they have done what they do.

Also, Oz, keep in mind that by leaving, you won't be punishing her. However, you will be hurting those of us who love reading your intelligent and interesting posts. (Did that shamless guilt trip work at all? No?) Seriously...we love you. Don't go. You are too awesome.

Oz,
Rather than take personal offense, I would simply let it be like water off a duck's back. I have observed a few instances of one particular moderator's behavior that some might be offended by, but I just found interesting. A person's behavior vis-a-vis a particular topic and their reaction to it will sometimes simply reflect the rules of the board, but in a number of instances, it seems to be tied to personal biases and sensitivities.
I love observing one particular moderator, and I have never felt offended by that person. I own my own feelings. No one can make me feel a certain way. I allow it or not. But, I've often thought "interesting!!" Hey, this is the internet, and I certainly wouldn't waste a moment being offended. I wouldn't waste any emotion on that. But, as a behavioral scientist, I do find one person in particular quite interesting and fun to observe!
Just have a bit of a giggle, and let it wash right off your back.

by SweetBabyCheezits inwell, i guess this is it.
i received a pm from a non-moderator (who will remain nameless) this afternoon telling me i've been banned.
i didn't even know a non-mod could ban a poster from the forum but i read it for myself:.
