SBC - judging from your pics you are never out of shape. You're probably talking about a 3-4 lb gain/loss.

Joliette - loved your emoticons/reactions to the comments you were reporting on, esp. the Taco Bell one. I would LOL but it's just too sad to laugh. There are real children and real lives on the line here. Thank you for your post.
Billy - excellent points, as always.

My JW mum is in hospital
by nugget inmy poor mum fell over on sunday and broke her hip.
she was taken to hospital and yesterday had an operation to place a pin in the joint.
this was obviously a worrying time for all concerned and my dad let us all know what was going on.

How do I explain to my parents how upset I am about their child abuse policy
by not bitter inthis whole case is really bothering me.
but i think what is upsetting me most is the fact that my dad is an elder and to think of him actually going along with this policy on child abuse and protecting an abuser just sickens me.. i have a 5 year old daughter whom my parents help look after and really adore her.
so i'm thinking of going over there and saying to them -.

Do you think it's sad Ted Jaracz is not here to reap what he sowed.
by yesidid in.
after all jaracz was in charge of the service dept which formulated and enforced the silence rules and others which are now a source of such pain for the watchtower.. shame he died without having to face the consequences.

Um...HELLO. He was one of the annointed. Don't you think he already knows about this? Maybe they have their own version of CNN in Heaven. I bet Jehovah gave him a good spanking.

I see what sculla is saying and agree with Elderelite that there's a valid point there. But there's also reality. This is Theocratic Warfare we're talking about here. Go Elderelite! You're making the MOST of a really crap situation. May the Force Bewitch you uh.. er...be with you..

What is with abusive atheists?
by Fernando insorry folks, i know the "candace conti case" is where all our time attention should be for now.
i just had this much less important issue on my heart and wanted to make a quick note of it, as i am struggling with remembering all the details as clearly afterward.. although i am a non-religious believer and simple follower of jesus, i have had some constructive interaction with atheists and agnostics on jwn.
i do enjoy learning more about their perspective.

Sizemilk, you wrote: "Yet the same group uses the term "Atheist" as if it were some organised counter-religion itself, that all non-believers have become automatically baptised into."
Atheists are certainly not a homogenous group. Imagine trying to "organize" atheists into some kind of counter-religion? It would be like herding cats. That's a good thing, I think, about atheists. But it would be wrong to speak of atheists as if they were organized in their group "membership." However, that being said, it's still useful to think in terms of a broad category of people who have very little in common other than their lack of belief in (a) diety/dieties. Perhaps it could be thought of as a sensitizing concept if broad category seems too general.

Elderelite,
Beautiful letter. Their hardline on the status of DFd and DAd peeps will ultimately work against them. They've created a situation where people must stay inside for fear of losing their families if they leave and in doing this they've made their own beds.
