The no beard or facial hair rule
by Soldier77 inokay, something that has always been a side point but still a rather ridiculous rule is that brothers cannot "serve" if they have a beard/goatee/anything more than just a moustache.
at least in the states, i've heard of some congregations in some countries allow this, but they are the exception?
your experience?.

Soldier77 - moustaches are awful IMHO but goatees are somehow more balanced and there isn't that "I'm underlining my nose because my nose is so effn awesome and I really want you to notice it" effect.
Go for it. You have my vote!

As far as moustaches, we would do well to consider the following question: Does anyone really have a nose worth underlining? The answer is clearly "No!"

Some questions....Feel free to answer any or all of these.
Have your views of gay people changed over the years? Do you have or have you ever had gay friends? Did the Organization impact your views and interactions with gay people? If you are no longer a Dub, what do you think now?

Why should I have to sign a letter saying I want to disassociate ?
by troubled mind ini don't understand why the elders want this letter so badly ....for one i don't remember signing a contract to become a jehovah's witness ,why do i need to resign ?.
also i was baptised in 1978 before the baptism questions changed , i dedicated myself to god not an organization .
my vow was to follow the direction by holy spirit as revealed to me through the bible, not the watchtower ...... if i belonged to the luthern church and quit going after three yrs they drop your name off the member list ........but if i chose to come to easter or christmas service everyonre would still talk to me i just wouldn't be a member any more .. .

@OnTheWayOut - your posts are my favorite posts on this site. Your experience and knowledge make for great advice. I wish there had been something like this site (and the internet like it is today) and someone like you around 20 years ago!

Troubled Mind -
Congratulations!!!!!!! Mentally, you are free. It may not feel like it yet, but you really do have your freedom now. They are pestering you because your freedom is not on their terms. They are like little children who can't take no for an answer. But in time, they will become a distant memory. The main thing is that you are free! Yay you!!!!

To Anyone at Bethel-Please pick up Ray's Torch
by WalkTall ini did not think it was possible to grieve for someone you have never met.
but i feel such an overwhelming sadness at the loss of ray.
i did receive kind replies to two emails that i sent him, but i never had the pleasure to meet the man.

Ray Franz was one in a million! It's hard to imagine anyone being able to match what he was able to do. He was a true scholar and a gentleman.

Sacolton - the pic you posted is frightening. It brought up some of my PTSTD "issues." Reminded me of a rather ugly and hairy elder in my former congregation.
