but i also had this thought about the experiences they read out and how real they were or just another wts bs, for example in the bit i heard they gave an experience of a brother who is bipolar and his battle when in fds.

Also while watching I couldnt help but noticing all those getting up and walking around during the big talk, made me think back to when I went to DC's, that was the best part as I remember.
I used to spend my time planning which moment I was going to tell my parents and what I was going to say to them to get up and walk around. Not listening to the talks I only ever really remember the baptism talk that I would enjoy but that was probably only because you got to see something visual, to break the monatmy
It makes me wonder if these people that are getting up wondering around are feeling the way I did at assemblies, will these wonderers be future JW net members.

But I also had this thought about the experiences they read out and how real they were or just another WTS BS, for example in the bit I heard they gave an experience of a brother who is bipolar and his battle when in FDS. Now wouldnt it be cool and fun, if after that talk you went up to that Elder who gave the talk and tell him how humbled you were by his experience and how this brother has given you more strength to carry out the WTS work. Then say how you would love to communicate with this brother and uplift him by telling him how he has help you spiritually. Then you ask the Elder "please brother please give me his name and the congreation he is from, I would love to communicate with this man personally ". What do you think this elders reply would be?

Ok so maybe im a little to stoned and maybe because I have not seen the manuscript or been to the convention but something concerns me in the tittle of the Generation Overlap thingy bs talk.
Now as I said it could be because im a little stoned or that I didnt read all the comments on here so please forgive me if I have repeated a comment on this thread. But like I said the title concerns me...Why?...."Remain in the Secret Place Most High".
Why is it a secret place? Secret being the concern!
Encarta Dictionary English (United Kingdom) Defintion of secret: Known only by a few people, and intentionally withheld from general knowledge.
Now please tell me if im barking up the wrong tree, but I really want to know the significance of 'Secret place'. Isnt the whole idea to preach the good news to all so that all will survive the big A? Surely a loving god who sent the invisible big J to earth to find a body of people to preach the lifesaving message to all mankind in order to save them would'nt want it to be secret place. After all the even bigger J is at war with Satan, the only way of winning a war is by the amount of people you have on your side....size speaks volumes.
So please can some one tell me why the title is called 'Remain in the secret place most high'? like I say I if I am wrong in my thinking please comment.
My personal (stoned) thoughts are in the words of the encarta dictionary....scary thinking, but when the chips are down...could this mind control end with a big bang, bigger than the Wako disaster.
I dont mean to scaremonger but this is serious stuff, science & technology is catching up with the old men of the GB, their legal dept is probably bigger than the printing factory in NY with all this available knoweldge out there now.
You can see this with the title of this thread how they are going against everything they say in their publications not to say what the bible says....and how can you copyright something that is the will of god? isnt that showing greed, that the WTS wants to get some sort of regcognition for preaching what they are supposedly directed for. At the end of the day why are they not more interested in publisizing their chosen right save people and give eternal life? why does the copyright litrature and talks to millions all over the world be of more concern to them when their whole objectives is to save as many as they can? surely they can count that time on their FSR? Any publicity is better than no publicity. They are running out of logic and common sense to back up their BS. The saying what goes around comes around springs to mind...karma! will they go quietly or will they go with a big bang, only time will tell.

I need some advice...regarding my jw dads funeral
by happyexjw ini could really do with some sound advice regarding my dad who is a long serving jw and his funeral arrangments.. my dad is in his last stages of cancer and has been talking with the elders about his funeral and with his family.
because a lot of his family are not jw's and that myself and my sister are both disfellowshipped.
he has chosen to have his funeral at the crematorium and hold a memorial at the kingdom hall a few days after.

Thank you for your comment Snoozy. I kind of had a feeling that being in a crem, I might be able to have a little say.
As for the Jehovah police, i have wondered, if I did get up to say something the elders present would be on tenderhooks ready and waiting to snatch the mircophone and carry me off if I even dared recite a scrpiture, or direct the JW's to the door when I get up and speak as im disfellowshipped...crazy thoughts but nothing suprises me anymore with that organisation lol.
Audesapere - My suggestions for you is to not take the elder's limitations personally. Good that he is trying to be responsible and keep his job while not neglecting your families need/request. My issue with the Elder coming round to talk to my dad about his funeral service is that he didnt need to tell my dad and mum how he got into trouble with work the last time he conducted my parents close freinds funeral. That was information that they really didnt need to know about and very thoughtless of him. It was putting unecessary pressure on my parents to hold the funeral at a time of his conveniece because if they dont they would also get him into trouble. What if the Crem was not available on the days he told them to hold it on. That seems to me like another way of selfish control.
Onthewayout - I live in the UK and its not very common to hold a funeral on a Saturday, though I can understand that reasoning.
Invetigator74 - I am pleased that my thread has been able to help you too. I am sorry that your dad is unwell too, its a horrible time seeing your loved ones deteriorate. I fully expect to be shunned at my dads funeral too.
Balsam - I am sorry for the loss of your son and sending big hugs to you. After reading that Watchtower article from last year I can see that this is going to be mor about preaching/ dictating/ controlling than anything personal about my dad, I know it is going to be very hard sitting there listening to all their hipocracy and crap. That is the part I am dreading most, I figure bringing duct tape with me to silence my hurt and anger. Especially at the Elder doing the service was the one that disfellowshipped me.
I was also a silent lamb growing up in the religion, when I spoke out nothing was done and the elder who did things to me was still allowed to carry on fully as an elder, I dont think they even approached him. It has taken me till the age of 34 to finally get the courage to go to a therapist to help myself heal about this. But that is another bad experience that I had from this cult.
I too, pray to god to give me the strength to get through my dads funeral, im sure he will.

Thank you all for your words and support, it really means a lot to me at this time.
From all your comments I think the first step I should do is to write to the Elder chosen to peform the ceremony and ask if I could have a few words at my Dads funeral, if he agrees then thats all good.
If he disagrees with this, then as snoozy, scared for life and cagefighter says, arrange a get together with all his non believer family and friends and celebrate his life in a positive way in the way that everyone knew him. That way we can all have our say about our memories of him without upsetting the believers and have good memories of our goodbyes to him.

My Dad is in his last stages of cancer and has been talking with the elders about his funeral and with his family. Because a lot of his family are not JW's and that myself and my sister are both disfellowshipped. He has chosen to have his funeral at the crematorium and hold a memorial at the kingdom hall a few days after. However he has still asked for an elder to do his service which I and the rest of the family respect.
This elder though was talking to my parents about a recent funeral he conducted with a close sister/ friend of my parents. He told them how much trouble he got into with work (hes a maths teacher at a secondry school) because he took the time off work. Totally inapropriate I think! Then he told them that due to his work he and the trouble he got into please can they hold the funeral on a Friday or Saturday to work around his work commitments.... I am so glad that he is looking after his sheep in a caring jesus like way and not putting worldy pursuits before his role as an elder...NOT!!!!!
Anyway I asked my dad if he wanted to have a personal song at the crematorium when people are arriving, nothing sinful or immoral but a song that he really liked. My dad said that would be nice but the crem does not allow for personal music...he got this idea from his friend as mentioned aboves daugheters who mum also wanted a personal song, in fact it was not a song but a classical piece of music. She was told by the Elders that the crem would not entertain that and they would not play a piece of music that the loved one wanted. Again .... I have only been to two non believer funerals one was at the crem and I know for fact that support the dying persons wish even if its some heavy metal record. The other being a church funeral and all was wearing the football shirts of that persons favorite team, no clergy told them no!
After speaking with my dad tonight I came home and looked up in the JW website what they view as appropriate for a JW funeral, and well I cant say I was shocked at what they put (Watchtower, February 15, 2009) This has left me feeling so left out. I wanted to say a few words about my dad at his funeral, nothing religious but celebrating the life of my dad and his infectious character who everybody loved. I fear that I will not even be allowed to touch his coffin because they will view it as spritistic and works of the devil.
Where do I stand what ever our differing beliefs this is my Dad!! he created me and brought me into this world and cared for me, making sure I always had food on the table a roof over my head and clothes to wear. This will be my last chance to say goodbye to my Dad. Could they really deny me the chance to say a few words at my own flesh and bloods funeral?
I have been to many a JW funeral, and the callous way they say goodbye (never remembering about the life of the person but preaching/ promoting their false doctrines and trying to recruit the unbelievers) never brought me any comfort. The two non believer funerals I attended was on the complete opposite, though funerals are a sad time, I could'nt believe how beautiful the ones I attended was. No one was celebrating the dead in a spiritistic way or playing loud music or commiting immorallity like the WTS says they do. It was about celebrating the life of that person and done so in a respectful way. I came away with so many happy memories about that person which lessened my grief.
I woud really like to know if anyone has been in this situation, what happened and how they felt, I would like to know what is my legal right to remember my last goodbyes as something to remember in a positive way by saying a few words at his funeral. How I deal with my Dads funeral when I have no say because hes been brainwashed by a organisation and they are more important than his own flesh and blood.
