Some Pioneer Sister, said I'll make you my Mister, if you'll just believe the New Light She said they make it up son so just play along, soon you won't know your left from your right. And I was blinded by new light, wrapped up in their truth didn't know my left from right Yes I was blinded by new light wrapped up in their truth it seemed like somethin' wasn't right. With a bookbag on my shoulder feelin' kinda' older I rode their merry-go-round I discovered the reason , that it was men I was pleasin' and the whole thing just crashed to the ground . Some big shot forget me not standing in the parking lot said man where will you go from here? But I knew what I was doin' and the truth they were a skewin' that's the one thing that was perfectly clear.

WRM: Watchtower Resistance Movement
by ekruks inwhen france was invaded by the nazis, they established what was called the french resistance, which attacked the nazis.
the cause was to fight evil, so it was called a guerilla movement.
in each town, rebels would meet together secretly and sabotage the nazis, doing things such as blowing up railway lines, though they didn't attack civilians who were oppressed.. i don't see for us to fight the individuals in the organisation, because many of them are just misled, confused, brainwashed.

I still believe you should seriously consider getting a life.
He said after being on this forum for 5 years and having made hundreds of posts...
It's probably easier to talk trash and complain anonymously on here than to actually do something, especially if you haven't quite gotten over the "what if they're right after all ? " phase . I've thought about mailing every JW friend and family member I know, a brief flyer outlining all the information from the past that was hidden from me by being swept under the rug. The Californiia Mansion, the failed predictions from the early 1900's, the UN membership and the Malawi/Mexico inconsistencies over political and draft issues etc. I don't necessarily want anyone to stop being a JW if thats what they want to be. I just want them to be informed and to know everything most JWs are never told about the WBTS past before spending their whole lives thinking they know what they are doing.

With this weekend being 9-11 I have a question to ask all of you.
by TotallyADD inwhen flight 93 went down in shanksville pa it was due to the fact the passagers stood up against the terrorist and overcame them and brought the plane down so it would not do any harm to anyone else.
what if flight 93 was full of jw's going to a convention instead.
would they have fought off the terrorist to stop them from harming anyone else?

As a whole JW's are unaccostomed to acting strongly or taking action on behalf of a group without specific instructions from someone in authority. JW or not, most people would think twice or three times (hopefully) before confronting an armed terrorist. Thankfully there are those who believe it's OK to trust their instincts and are accostomed to being in charge of thier own lives, but I think many JW's would have an even harder time risking doing something inappropriate based on their own gut feelings. Much of this can be blamed on being trained to be sheeplike and to wait for direction. Because of this, as a group, JW's are generally "nice" gentle people and aren't used to any kind of confrontation. I know indiduals who weren't rasised as JW's, who would be able to revert back into (worldly mode) quite easily which in real life, is a handy thing to be able to do.

911 forgotten amongst JWs
by fade_away ini noticed over the last 10 years that in every 9/11 anniversary, jws that i know personally don't even mention it.
not a word about the anniversary.
not a compassionate comment, not a prayer....nothing.

It's nearly impossible for me not to be moved to tears when visiting ground zero or when viewing the video of those people jumping from the towers. To be fair, I know JW's as individuals feel this way as well but each one, ever concious of reacting in a WT appropriate way, is looking to the other for a cue as to what an acceptable response should be. As is typical, they must keep their true feelings hidden until specific instructions come down from H.Q.

Please Consider My Serious Speculative Question.
by metatron inthis isn't about the 'truth' or religion per se but it could affect those things.
i freely admit i can't fathom all of the likely outcomes if ....... energy became free!.
in today's world, that idea might seem absurd.

No matter what the source of the energy is, you could be taxed just for using it. The suns energy might be free but the cost of a solar panel could skyrocket and there could be a hefty taxes for having one on your roof. Solar powered cars might be taxed per mile driven and they could be very expensive to buy and repair. It seems like there will always be the Haves and Have Nots.

This anniversary especially, is an in their face reminder of a time when so many JW's hoped this act of terrorism would lead to a war that would kick-off the long awaited Great Tribulaton. The turn out for field service the Saturday following the disaster was huge. It was like a modern day fall of the tower of Babel. Surely it would be just a matter of time before all that preperation for the end of the world we had been doing was finally going to pay off. Instead, as the weeks went by the dissapointment turned to embarrasment as this terrible event, rather than being an excuse to start a war, seemed to bring the best out in people. We witnessed the heroic acts made by total strangers on behalf of one another and the monumental efforts made to memorialize those lost and piece things back together for the living as quickly as possible. The nation and world prayed to God for help. It seemed as each year passed that mankind had gotten itself out of yet another scrape and was soldering on. If JW's acknowledged this in any way, it might seem they were admitting defeat or even being disloyal to God.

The same question could be asked about Hitler. What if Mamma Hitler had dropped baby Adolph on his head ? Would the history of the world have changed for the better or would the lesson the world learned from Hitler be taught to us by someone equally as evil ?
"If you build it, they will come" No matter what lame product someone comes up with, as long its persistently kept in front of the public, someone will buy it and loyally tout it as the best thing since sliced bread. It's a numbers game. For whatever white elepahant religion that comes along, there will always be someone who buys into it and gladly be lead down the garden path.

My story .....no friends after leaving the Cult and lost wife?
by Witness 007 ini realized today that i have no friends at all...it's me and my wife and two dogs and three goldfish, thats it's....i'm not too bothered by it but my wife wants to go back just for the friends.....i have de-programed her out of the "matrix" and she now thinks for herself, but she still feels like she needs a spritual side and friends.
i have people at work but we don't hang out.
i've become a a loner.

If one invested as much time doing an activity with new people as attending all the meetings, service and assemblies did, one would likely have quite a few new friends at the end of a year.
I can't see myself getting all dressed up and sitting through all those meetings again just to be able to visit with a few people afterward. I know that's exactly what many JW's do though. They never talk about anything spiritual or seem to ponder on anything very deeply. It's surprising how little they really know about why they believe what they believe.
