Evidently neither God's message nor his holy spirit is powerful enough, in their estimation, to draw a potential sheep to his chosen people on it's own. The no beard policy was put in place lest the sight of an unshaven face cause an interested one to turn away from the one true religion. Evidently they feel God's holy spirit can overpower the moustache and the soul patch and is also able to "make the very stones cry out" with the good news, should the need arise, unless of course said stones are covered by some sort of fuzzy moss or Lichen. (that would be a deal breaker) If you ask me, a beard would be the perfect place to hide contraband literature during the tribulation.

Are we all still FAMILY? Yes or No?
by Greybeard inhere is why, even though i no longer agree with most of what the gb/wt/jw's teach, i still feel especially close to all of us who were apart of this group.
born in or converted.
we all have had the same life experience of being raised in a over bearing mind controlling cult.

I do know what you're sayin' and felin' greybeard and it's nice of you to say so. I do like the idea of a bond or brotherhood with others in our situation but realistically speaking, I need to actually meet the person face to face before I can honestly say I love them or think of them as family. It would be too easy for me to project warm feelings onto others only to find out they may have been misguided or one sided. (been there- done that) I must say however, I really like the spirit of your post !

You could call it JW-lite , Nu-liters or Generationists
Instead of Pioneers you could have Apostaliters

For me that would be like tunneling out of a prison cell only to find myself in the cell next door.
Thanks to the WT, for now I am so done with God and religion. I never again want to agonize over what anyone else says God wants or doesn't want. If he exists, great, but I'll find him on my own and never again will I let people interfere with my spirituality. As far as I'm concerned, they have a great deal to be accountable for and if there is such a thing as a millstone, they've got many of them tied around their necks.

Some Pioneer Sister, said I'll make you my Mister, if you'll just believe the New Light She said they make it up son so just play along, soon you won't know your left from your right. And I was blinded by new light, wrapped up in their truth didn't know my left from right Yes I was blinded by new light wrapped up in their truth it seemed like somethin' wasn't right. With a bookbag on my shoulder feelin' kinda' older I rode their merry-go-round I discovered the reason , that it was men I was pleasin' and the whole thing just crashed to the ground . Some big shot forget me not standing in the parking lot said man where will you go from here? But I knew what I was doin' and the truth they were a skewin' that's the one thing that was perfectly clear.

WRM: Watchtower Resistance Movement
by ekruks inwhen france was invaded by the nazis, they established what was called the french resistance, which attacked the nazis.
the cause was to fight evil, so it was called a guerilla movement.
in each town, rebels would meet together secretly and sabotage the nazis, doing things such as blowing up railway lines, though they didn't attack civilians who were oppressed.. i don't see for us to fight the individuals in the organisation, because many of them are just misled, confused, brainwashed.

I still believe you should seriously consider getting a life.
He said after being on this forum for 5 years and having made hundreds of posts...
It's probably easier to talk trash and complain anonymously on here than to actually do something, especially if you haven't quite gotten over the "what if they're right after all ? " phase . I've thought about mailing every JW friend and family member I know, a brief flyer outlining all the information from the past that was hidden from me by being swept under the rug. The Californiia Mansion, the failed predictions from the early 1900's, the UN membership and the Malawi/Mexico inconsistencies over political and draft issues etc. I don't necessarily want anyone to stop being a JW if thats what they want to be. I just want them to be informed and to know everything most JWs are never told about the WBTS past before spending their whole lives thinking they know what they are doing.

With this weekend being 9-11 I have a question to ask all of you.
by TotallyADD inwhen flight 93 went down in shanksville pa it was due to the fact the passagers stood up against the terrorist and overcame them and brought the plane down so it would not do any harm to anyone else.
what if flight 93 was full of jw's going to a convention instead.
would they have fought off the terrorist to stop them from harming anyone else?

As a whole JW's are unaccostomed to acting strongly or taking action on behalf of a group without specific instructions from someone in authority. JW or not, most people would think twice or three times (hopefully) before confronting an armed terrorist. Thankfully there are those who believe it's OK to trust their instincts and are accostomed to being in charge of thier own lives, but I think many JW's would have an even harder time risking doing something inappropriate based on their own gut feelings. Much of this can be blamed on being trained to be sheeplike and to wait for direction. Because of this, as a group, JW's are generally "nice" gentle people and aren't used to any kind of confrontation. I know indiduals who weren't rasised as JW's, who would be able to revert back into (worldly mode) quite easily which in real life, is a handy thing to be able to do.

It's nearly impossible for me not to be moved to tears when visiting ground zero or when viewing the video of those people jumping from the towers. To be fair, I know JW's as individuals feel this way as well but each one, ever concious of reacting in a WT appropriate way, is looking to the other for a cue as to what an acceptable response should be. As is typical, they must keep their true feelings hidden until specific instructions come down from H.Q.
