If you are in a costal area and see the tide suddenly rise or fall and then drawn out to sea....head for the hills !

I thought JW's , if they even have an account (most do) were supposed to be extra careful about who they friended on Facebook. I'm suprised they would friend a non Witness they just met. Maybe they are the "fringe" type who sorta' do what they want.
As easy and tempting as it would be, I wouldn't mess with them in case it could backfire on you at work. (and because it just wouldn't be nice)
It would be kinda fun to say "This company has been in business since 1975 which as you may have heard was evidently a time when certain groups were expecting the world to end. Thankfully that never happened and we now have 144,000 publishers...I mean employees and have branch offices 108 lands and islands of the sea. Please turn with me to page 607 in your instruction manual. Thats page 607....

WORLDS APART~TEEN JW MOVIETONIGHT ON SUNDANCE @ 7 EST.
by AK MCGRATH ini was just flipping through the channels to find something for the woman i care for to watch, and i came across a movie tonight on the sundance channel called, "worlds apart".
it is about a jehovah's witness teen who falls in love with someone who is not.. although i can't watch it now, i am taping it.
i couldn't look to see if it is a documentary of sorts, but i bet it will be interesting to say the least.. it's on at 7 pm tonight, eastern.

Note all the little details in the movie that only a JW would think to include such as the society calander hanging on the wall etc.

by troubled mind inmy sister called me this evening to tell me the jw housekeeper for my father called to apologize for her behavior on friday !.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/216834/2/why-cant-i-just-have-one-day-with-out-seeing-a-jw-seriously.
the woman apologized to my sister for being harsh to her , and for being judgemental towards me .

She may be truly sorry but it did cross my mind that she could be doing a little damage control. Maybe cleaning jobs are hard to come by these days?

The Faithful and Discreet Slave - A JW Myth
by 00DAD inprobably this topic has been dealt with before, but i'm relatively new here, so perhaps y'all will be willing to indulge me in my pursuit for clarity.
regarding the anointed, the gb recently said this: .
"we thus have no way of knowing the exact number of anointed ones on earth; nor do we need to know.

The organisation emasculates any unbelieving husband who has to thereafter bow to the edicts of the society on all matters. Witnesses rarely compromise and
expect their spouses to fit in around them.
Areas such as family discipline and family honour are taken away from them and there is no privacy since faults and failings are free to be discussed with elders.
Nugget,
Well said, you really nailed it... It's as if you lived in my house growing up. My Dad pretty much had his kids and his marriage hijacked by this religion. Thanks for posting that comment.

Why do we care?
by fade_away inok this thread might get my ass kicked by some of you in here, but don't take it the wrong way...i'm just curious, why do we care so much about the wt calling us "mentally diseased"?
i mean haven't we said far worse things about the wt and gb in this forum?
(i include myself)...i know many of us got all bent out of shape because of those two words they used on us and some of us are trying to get the law on our side, but if we could file lawsuits against them, then i'm sure they can just as easily get their money back by accusing us of "hate speech" and having this website shut down.

And if you'll remember Greybeard, when this article came out, even the general public hadn't reached the point where they were openly talking about such things as they do now. Since the advent of reality TV and Jerry Springer like forums we've become used to hearing just about any topic discussed but it was pretty shocking stuff in those days. As a teen, I remember being quite embarrased/ashamed to be knocking on doors presenting magazines to total strangers when these kinds of topics were involved. I used to wonder how these old guys who'd been living in the house of God for decades, knew so much about these kinky topics and why it had to be presented to people who weren't even Witnesses.

Yep...I didn't get the whole uproar about the mentally diseased comment in the Watchtower either. I think what FADE_AWAY is saying, is that this sentiment, in one form or another, has always been conveyed by thier message. They believe that anyone who doesn't see "their" truth, especially former associates who have become worse than unbelievers, are being misled by Satan who twists minds and blinds eyes and renders nonbelievers worthy of death.
I think we all realize that most Witnesses are engaging in some form of "confabulation" where they fill in the gaps in their understanding of certain matters with fabrications they believe to be fact or truth.
